Australia - The Caterpillar Club, Sydney’s latest underground music venue, boasts one of the world’s largest vinyl collections. Drawing inspiration from the ‘70s, and the vibrant clubs of New York, bands also play five nights a week, and according to general manager, Emma Franceschini “any time there’s not a band on there’s a DJ spinning vinyl.” This includes the secret Bamboo Room Tiki bar where DJs can also be found at the weekend.

Tasked with turning the vision of operators Stefan & Anton Forte (from Swillhouse Group) into reality, was sound engineer Anthony Russo from Technical Audio Group (TAG). And he turned to Martin Audio’s CDD loudspeaker system to meet all eventualities.

He emphasises that this needed to be a statement of uncompromising quality “where every seat needs to be the best seat”. His design, therefore, was

Namibia - A vibrant new eatery located in the Windhoek’s popular Hilltop Village entertainment area, Casa Focaccia offers rustic Italian food. Stage Audio Works (SAW) Namibia designed and installed a solution centred around Audac loudspeakers and amplification, to deliver consistent quality audio across both the indoor and outdoor areas of the restaurant.

The brief, undertaken in collaboration with Chamberlain Architects, was to implement a professional-quality background music system that is intuitive to control and capable of streaming music directly from online platforms, allowing restaurant staff to manage playlists from their phones or a dedicated computer.

“The client requested a straightforward background music system that could easily be managed day-to-day by the team at Casa Focaccia,” says Udo Stehle, senior sales consultant at SAW Na

China - Zhuhai was lit with sound, light, and pure energy as Adamson’s new Vergence Group Series made its powerful debut at one of Asia’s most electrifying events, Vision and Colour Music Festival (VAC).

UK - Set in the rolling Pennine countryside at Roydhouse near Huddersfield, the Three Acres has been a family run inn since 1968. The building suffered a major fire in late 2023 which saw it close for an extended period of time, during which it was completely refurbished. After overcoming this significant challenge, the pub has returned with a new layout. As well as its culinary offer, the pub also hosts weddings, private events, and live entertainment.

The Three Acres Team engaged regular provider and AV integrator Posynergi of Huddersfield, to supply and install a flexible, zoned sound system, which could cater seamlessly for the varying demands of the pub’s offer. At its heart was an AtlasIED Atmosphere eight-zone signal processor supplied by AtlasIED’s UK distributor Polar, who supported the project with design assistance and commissioning.

The Spiiders and the LEDBeam 350s are the most recent purchases, delivered over the last three years by Robe’s Croatian distributor, LAV Studio

Europe - Cambridge University European Theatre Group has been touring Western Europe with the next generation of actors, directors, designers and technicians since 1957. Derek Jacobi and Trevor Nunn were amongst the inaugural company members that first toured Romeo & Juliet to the continent, and the tradition of touring a Shakespeare production every December has been maintained since.

The European Theatre Group (CUETG) prides itself on its status as a self-sufficient, student-run company that juxtaposes professional equipment with experimental sets. The latest Christmas tour, directed by Pauline Eller, took A Midsummer Night’s Dream to six European venues in just 14 days, with venues varying hugely in size from the compact auditorium of De Koelisse, Leuven to a full 350-seat Wilhelma Theatre in Stuttgart.

Belgium - At the Onder de Brug location in Vroenhoven, just across the border near Maastricht, Limitzz Outdoor 2025 delivered another successful event. At the heart of the mainstage design stood the Infinity Furion FX402 Bar, impressing crowds and artists alike. Highlite International’s brands played a key role in shaping the visual identity of this popular edition.

Organised by Pro Light Events, the lighting and technical production of Limitzz Outdoor was designed to surprise and immerse visitors in a fresh, high-impact atmosphere. “Even for returning guests, we aim to create a completely new experience every time,” says the lighting designer. “Lighting, video, FX and decor all come together to form a cohesive story – and this year, the Infinity Furion FX402 Bar was our visual centrepiece.”

USA - To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Holland Centre for the Performing Arts, Omaha Performing Arts recently undertook a major capital upgrade to modernise the venue’s lighting system. For this milestone project, the venue turned to longtime local partner Theatrical Media Services (TMS) to design and integrate a lighting solution that would ‘honour the space’s acoustic and aesthetic sensitivities while bringing its technology into a new era’.

The venue’s previous lighting rig, which combined conventional ellipsoidal fixtures with early-generation LEDs, was beginning to show its age, both in colour output and flexibility. Driven largely by the acoustical considerations for the Omaha Symphony, Holland Centre’s primary resident, the TMS team knew the updated lighting system had to operate silently while still providing impactful visual effe

Situated in the Caixa Geral de Depósitos head office building, Culturgest features 11 fully equipped spaces, including two auditoria, and hosts a wide range of programming from theatre, music and dance to conferences and film festivals. Its main space, the 612-seat Emílio Rui Vilar Auditorium, is celebrated for its architectural detail, wood-panelled acoustics and AV infrastructure.

In collaboration with Audium and FLUX::, Culturgest recently became the first venue in Portugal to implement a fully immersive live sound system with FLUX:: SPAT Revolution while leveraging the venue’s existing cinema surround speaker system for hybrid use.

“Culturgest asked for an immersive system, and after a thorough analysis of the available options,

Saudi Arabia - Creative Technology Middle East (CTME) provided technical expertise at the E-Sports World Cup (EWC) opening ceremony at ANB Arena in Riyadh, delivering an impactful visual experience with the support of nearly 600 Elation lighting fixtures.

EWC 2025 brought together over 2,500 players from around the world, competing for $70m in total prize money. Ireland - Chauvet Professional Colorado PXL Curve 12 were deployed by Steven Douglas when working on Hozier’s global Unreal Unearth tour.

“Everything came from the initial creative conversations with Andrew (Hozier) about the album,” said Douglas. “The album is heavily inspired by Dante’s Inferno, so in a loose fashion we tried to sculpt the show to have different moments -- also we progressed with a kind of arc that sees us go through different levels and return to the world at the end.

“Also, because the artist’s closing song is traditionally Work Song for most of his career, the show ends on an acapella vocal moment that slowly fades out,” continued Douglas. “It was important to mirror that, so the opening cue was a single narrow light that Andrew steps into from the darkness and then grows as the song

USA - Pacific Coast Entertainment (PCE) has once again partnered with EAW to further enhance the state-of-the-art sound system at Great Park Live. Following last year’s installation of EAW’s Anya ADAPTive system, PCE returned ahead of the 2025 summer season to upgrade the rig and ‘ensure flawless coverage’ for the venue’s newly expanded seating.

“Last year’s system sounded fantastic, but the venue has since evolved,” says Tom Pappanduros, production manager at PCE. “When the City of Irvine decided to widen the seating sections, we needed to make sure the system could cover every new seat without compromise. Adding to our existing EAW system gave us the flexibility to expand while maintaining consistency and clarity.”

Originally launched with 24 Anya boxes and 24 Otto subwoofers, the initial installation successfully addre

UK - Striking the right ambience is a fundamental part of the character of Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge. Created in 1957 by former Tate Gallery Assistant Jim Ede and his wife Helen, Kettle’s Yard was not just a home for the couple, but an open space for the public to enjoy contemporary art in an informal, domestic setting.

Almost 70 years later and that ethos still exists, so when a spatial audio component was required for a new exhibition by Lubaina Himid and Magda Stawarska, it was important to get the aesthetics right. The artists in question subsequently commissioned specialist integrator ArtAV to assist in creating an environment that worked with the space rather than against it, with the installation of four specially customised Genelec 4420 monitors.

The house at Kettle’s Yard still displays a permanent collection of artworks and was exten

USA - Djo’s Another Bite 12-city tour concluded 20 October at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Carlos Katsurayama’s light show mirrored the artist’s ambition for the fall tour, which for many shows, drew on the versatility and power of 137 Chauvet Professional fixtures supplied by Colour Sound Experiment.

“This show was challenging to execute because we wanted to take a less conventional approach to lighting,” Katsurayama said of his design. “Our goal was to make bold, sometimes ‘weird’ choices that captured the music’s dynamics as accurately as possible - whether that meant visually matching the sound’s intensity, or creating moments of chaos by introducing light in unsettling, unexpected ways,”

Dark space played a key role in that vision. “We used dark space to create depth and transport the audience into different

Canada/USA - Cohesion supported Avril Lavigne’s Greatest Hits tour across 66 dates in North America. The tour was a culmination of two decades of music for the Canadian-born artist, who has sold more than 40m albums and has received eight Grammy Award nominations.

Vocal intelligibility was of paramount importance on the tour, and Cohesion PA was selected. FOH engineer Paul David Hager explained: “We had to get that vocal to sit right and to be warm and clear - if the vocal doesn’t connect, the rest of it almost doesn’t matter. Cohesion is clear, it’s flexible, and it’s powerful.”

Production manager Adam ‘Cutlets’ Richards described how Hager specified Cohesion for this tour. “I trust his judgment above all. From the moment I heard it, it was dialled in. It sounded great from day one.”

USA - The process of taking The Eagles’ live show from the streets to the Sphere in Las Vegas was no small feat, and the transform.engine from Fourier Audio has played a major role.

Tom Evans has been mixing the band’s sound on the road since 2017, including on their 2021 tour in which they performed the Hotel California album in its entirety with a full orchestra. The Eagles are all about their soaring, closely harmonized vocals, and getting Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill, and Deacon Frey just right night after night was the primary task.

That became a bit more challenging when the Eagles embarked on their Sphere residency. There, the venue’s immersive 42 speaker zones included the main PA components set behind the stage, which Evans recognised as a potential issue.

USA - Dua Lipa kicked off her 80+ date Radical Optimism Tour in November 2024 in Asia. The tour visited Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the UK, including two shows at Wembley Stadium that saw over 160,000 tickets selling out in a matter of minutes.

The tour is currently making its way across North America and will conclude in December 2025 in South America. Front-of-house engineer, Will Nicholson, and monitor engineer, Alex Cerutti, are both utilising DiGiCo Quantum 852s, supplied by Britannia Row, a Clair Global Company.

At FOH, Nicholson has four SD Racks loaded with 32-bit cards, plus an Orange Box with Dante and HMA cards. He relies on the Fourier transform.engine for his plugin needs, appreciating the latest integration with his console.

USA - Tom Evans has been mixing shows by the Eagles on a Solid State Logic Live console for the past eight years, choosing the desk primarily for its audio quality, but also relying on the automation capabilities to recreate the band’s sound. But for the band’s residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas - 44 shows over 22 weekends through 8 November 2025 - Evans scrapped his old mixes, rebuilding them from scratch to take full advantage of the venue’s immersive audio system.

The Sphere, which opened just off the Las Vegas Strip in late 2023, incorporates nearly 1,600 matrix array speaker cabinets (a total of 167,000 speaker drivers, amplifiers and processing channels) that deliver immersive sound throughout the domed venue, which accommodates around 18,000 people.

Canada - Led by CEO Jean-Sébastien Roy, Headroom Productions has become a go-to provider of broadcast equipment rentals for high-profile, unscripted productions, managing everything from consoles to advanced RF systems. With a portfolio that includes Survivor Canada, I’m a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here and Star Académie, Headroom relies on solutions from Wisycom.

One of the company’s most ambitious projects to date is the reality series The Traitors, which presents significant logistical challenges due to its sprawling set, remote locations and constant on-the-go cast movement. “Traitors is the perfect example of why we use Wisycom,” explains Roy. “We run a full-scale Wisycom setup across the entire production. From the moment the cast leaves the manor to the final challenge, we capture pristine audio,

USA - For the 13th consecutive year, Firehouse Productions supplied the sound for the Global Citizen Festival in New York City’s Central Park, where more than 60,000 attendees gathered to see performances by Shakira, Cardi B and other international artists. To achieve even coverage across the park’s expansive Great Lawn, Firehouse deployed a JBL Professional VTX system powered by Crown amplifiers.

The system included 76 JBL VTX V25-II-CS loudspeakers for mains and delays, 36 VTX G28 subwoofers in a cardioid configuration, six VTX S28 subwoofers on the sides, and 20 VTX A8 loudspeakers used for front-fill and out-fill. The entire system was powered by 54 Crown I-Tech 4x3500HD amplifiers.

Firehouse account manager Vinny Siniscal credited JBL’s Venue Synthesis software as a key factor in the system’s accuracy and efficiency. “Venue Sy

Indonesia - Held this year on 3-5 October at Gambir Expo, Jakarta, the Synchronize Festival features a diverse lineup of artists across multiple genres from traditional, indie, to modern commercial pop acts.

The festival’s District Stage featured a lineup including Efek Rumah Kaca, Barasuara, Bernadya, nostalgic 2000s acts such as Kangen Band and Letto, and a much-anticipated performance by Guruh Gipsy, who combined 96 channels of traditional and modern instruments to make it one of the most complex setups of the weekend for the sound team at Jakarta-based event services company DSS Rental.

Cyprus - AEK Arena – Georgios Karapatakis soccer stadium in Larnaca (completed in 2016) – serves as the home for AEK Larnaca FC and has a seating capacity of 8,000. AEK Arena is classified as a Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Category 4 stadium, meeting the specifications required to host UEFA European competitions. The seating stands are named after regions and villages of the Larnaca province, reflecting the club's deep local roots.

Getting to a Category 4 rating required the venue to be partially reconfigured, including adding box seats and upgrading the sound system to cover the entire stadium. The venue contracted with DSP Innovative Solutions and their sister company Kalsedia to design and implement the upgrades, and they included LEA Professional amplifiers as part of the retrofit.
