USA - In June, for the first time since 2019, Starbucks convened its Leadership Experience conference, bringing together more than 14,500 of its store managers and other Starbucks leaders at Thomas & Mack Centre in Las Vegas. The three-day gathering included breakouts and workshops, keynote speakers, competitions, live musical performances, all backed by a large-scale Cohesion audio system.

FOH engineer Andrew Waterman, who also serves as account manager for global brands Starbucks and Microsoft, was entrusted to select the PA. “I’ve done a lot of events lately with Cohesion, and the sound and the coverage have been amazing,” he said. “It’s just so smooth and good sounding. It’s a team effort, and I think James [Ellison, system engineer] has done an amazing job with the design, so my hat’s off, for sure.”

Sweden - Hip hop star Ant Wan’s brief career featured hits like Malaika and Komplicerat before announcing his retirement in 2025.

Months before he withdrew from the public eye, the artist appeared at Stockholm’s Tele2 arena. A record number of fans saw him there, surpassing even the crowd drawn by Madonna. Setting the mood for the occasion was an evocative lighting design by Jakob Larsson of Light It Production, who worked closely with artistic director Alexander Wessely.

The two collaborators created a powerful theatrical sense on the big stage with a show that was divided into three parts: the first marked by a ‘cold snow’ theme with cool colours and snow machine effects; the second characterised by a ‘fire theme’, animated by oranges and reds along with pyro effects; and the third (on a satellite stage) featured peaco

Austria - Follow-Me has played a vital role in the elaborate production of Der Freischütz at the Bregenzer Festspiele in Austria with its Follow-Me 3D SIX and Follow-Me Track-iT systems. The production, held on the festival's 2,500sq,m stage on Lake Constance, presented technical challenges requiring both automated and manual tracking capabilities to accommodate performers emerging from water and navigating complex steel structures.

Carl Maria von Weber's opera Der Freischütz captivated audiences in German director Philipp Stölzl's production, reaching approximately 374,000 people across 55 performances during the 2024/25 seasons. Stölzl, who served as director and designer for both stage and lighting, created a spooky, poetic world for this romantic horror story.

Sweden - For nearly 140 years, Nalen has been hosting the performances that shaped Swedish culture – from the artists who graced its stage in the 1950s and 60s, to the diverse roster of contemporary acts that keep its calendar packed with over 100 concerts and events annually.

The 19th-century Stockholm concert hall's architectural constraints – strict weight limits, sightline restrictions, and a protected building status – meant that the aging sound system needed replacing with something both powerful and ingenious.

Working with consultant Fredrik Martinsson of Comet Audio, Nalen assessed these challenges and identified the requirements for a premium solution. Several integrators were asked to propose systems. JLE Audio AB, an L-Acoustics certified provider with over 20 years of experience with the brand, was selected based on the strength of

Jordan - Auditoria designed and operated audio for composer, maestro and vocalist Sami Yusuf’s concert at the Roman Theatre in Amman, a live performance that blended ancient architecture, intricate musicianship, and modern sound design.

The one-night concert brought together more than 50 musicians, including traditional instruments and voices spanning the Middle East, South Asia, South America and Europe in a celebration of cultural tradition and musical unity, set within a historic performance space.

“It’s always a privilege to work with Sami Yusuf,” said Scott Willsallen, director at Auditoria. “He surrounds himself with exceptional musicians, and his music draws on such a diverse range of traditions. To bring that to life in a 2,000-year-old theatre was really special.”

Saudi Arabia - The Esports World Cup (EWC) AFT_r Concerts 2025 pushed the boundaries of live entertainment in the Middle East this summer, boasting a diverse lineup of international superstars and regional talent at the 8,000 capacity ANB Arena in Riyadh.

Delivered by integrator Creative Technology Middle East (CTME) for entertainment company MDLBeast, the production combined LED technology, sophisticated media systems, and advanced lighting design to create an immersive visual and audio experience. Central to this spectacle was INFiLED’s ART 4.6 LED series, which provided over 332sq.m of visuals across the stage and venue.

As the technical production partner, CTME led the design, supply, and installation of all video, lighting, and camera equipment for the EWC AFT_r Concerts. The brief called for an ambitious, high-impact setup capable of deliveri

USA - St. Bartholomew’s Church in New York City required a new sound system that could meet modern performance standards without compromising its architectural beauty. To achieve this balance, the church worked with manufacturer’s representative AudioPros, design consultant Salas O’Brien and AV integrator IVCi to deploy an audio system using EAW AC6 ADAPTive column loudspeakers.

“For this project there was only one option that met the needs of what the leadership at St. Bartholomew’s was looking for,” says Andrew Shillo, principal at AudioPros, EAW’s regional sales representative. “EAW’s ADAPTive system was the best solution because it not only provided quality sound coverage, but was architecturally pleasing without disturbing the historical nature of the space.”

The church’s design made for a challenging acoustic environment.

Norway - Lighting designer Jon Eirik Sira thought outside the box when tackling an interesting visual conundrum for Det Vestnorske Teateret in Bergen’s recent production of Skulerevyen (School Review). The show was a raw take on the issue of violence in schools through the decades, billed as “The revue for those who have survived school!”.

Jon has been head of lighting at the theatre – located in the centre of Norway’s second largest city – since 2019, and is also involved in other locally based theatre projects. He was instrumental in the venue investing in 24 x Robe LEDBeam 350s, which have been added to the house lighting rig over the last four years.

For Skulerevyen, he looked at a more ‘classic’ Robe product – the MediaSpinner 50 AT – to provide an imaginative technical solution. Launched in 2006, the Robe M

Lithuania - Event production company Šviesiai Garsiai began its partnership with Nexo in 2023, and a busy 2025 season of events across Lithuania for the Vilnius-based sound and lighting specialists has served to showcase the versatility and scalability of their Nexo Geo M12 line array.

It all started in April when the country’s UTMA combat sports organisation hosted a mixed martial arts (MMA) and kickboxing event, bringing together some of Lithuania’s best-known fighters at the Žalgiris Arena in Kaunas.

The main goal for the event's sound team was to design and deploy a system that would give good sound everywhere in the arena without blocking the view of the central LED screen cube. The solution came in the form of six compact line arrays supplemented by point source speakers drawn from a total of 46 x Nexo Geo M12s, 32 x MSUB18s and eight ID2

When it came time to upgrade our front-of-house kit, I reached out to the SAW team right away.”

Dwarka sought the advice of Stage Audio Works during negotiations on the mixing console upgrade. W

UK - Oasis hadn’t performed together in the 16 years leading up to their current 41-date, five-continent Live ’25 Tour. which began 4 July in Cardiff and concludes 23 November in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Setting an immersive mood that strengthens fans’ connection to the band’s performance is a visually rich and emotionally powerful show design by Paul Normandale of Light Alternative design.

Featuring distinct geometric patterns, reflective of the Oasis logo, and a broad palette of vivid colour combinations, Normandale’s lighting creates a crisp, contemporary look on stage that manages to be intense, while also projecting a warm, welcoming vibe. His clean design works in close harmony with the images on the show’s wide (about 100m) video wall that were created by Chris Curtis of I’m Your Boss Films, and Neil ‘Shop’ Harris.

South Africa - The Hilton Arts Festival (HAF) in KwaZulu-Natal, one of South Africa’s most celebrated cultural gatherings, returned this year with its hallmark mix of theatre, music, visual art, and family-friendly activities. Behind the performances and creative energy, however, was a quiet but profound tribute to the festival’s founder, Sue Clarence.

Three decades ago, Sue Clarence established the Hilton Arts Festival. She dreamed of creating a platform to celebrate diverse voices in the arts. Before she passed, her only request was that the festival should continue – without fuss or sentimentality. The event pressed on, vibrant, inclusive, and community-driven, just as she intended.

Carrying her legacy forward are Evan Roberts, Julia Clarence, and Duncan Bonella. They worked alongside Sue for years and embody her spirit of
