UK - The Purple Guide welcomed visitors to the Showman’s Show meetings tent for a morning of interactive discussions about developments to the outdoor events industry's guidance publication.

The Purple Guide is curated by the Event Industry Forum (EIF), whose chair, Steve Heap, introduced proceedings. He explained: “Having grown from 12 to 45 chapters since it was taken over by EIF from the HSE, the Purple Guide is undergoing a reformat and design update to make it a more consistent, user-friendly for subscribers to use.

“This year, we launched The Purple Guide Lite, which gives condensed guidance with an event management plan for the thousands of (often voluntary) organisers putting on events up to 500 capacity, who don’t need 45 chapters of guidance.”

USA - KV2 Audio is gearing up to exhibit for the first time at LDI 2025 in Las Vegas from 7-9 December. The team, led by the company's most recent hire, US sales executive Max Clixby, can be found in audio demo room W266.

Popular on Broadway, KV2 counts several major productions to its name, including The Lion King, Pretty Woman and Kinky Boots among others.

Max Clixby is eager for more sound designers and venue owners to discover KV2. “This is why we opted for a demo room rather than a stand on the show floor,” he says. “For people who are not yet familiar with KV2, a demo speaks a thousand words. We’ll be showcasing our full range of active and passive point source loudspeakers, from the ultra-compact Cube which delivers massive bang for its buck, right up to the hugely powerful VHD2.21, a staple in dance clubs

Germany - Prolight + Sound, the trade fair for event and entertainment technology, has been held in Frankfurt am Main for over 30 years. However, its organisers have announced that following the end of the early bird booking period at the end of September 2025, the feedback from exhibitors for the event in March 2026 has not been sufficient to guarantee that Prolight + Sound can be held satisfactorily. For this reason, Messe Frankfurt has decided not to hold the event as a stand-alone edition. Instead, a scenario has been developed that includes making an offer to those exhibitors who could benefit from synergies with Light + Building, the trade fair for lighting and building technology.

Light + Building will take place from 8 to 13 March 2026, just under two weeks before the originally planned Prolight + Sound (24 to 26 March

Future Secured - The future of the Isle of Wight Festival (IOWF) has been secured until 2033 after the renewal of its licence. The local environment and community protection committee has agreed terms on a seven-year extension to the land licence of the event at Seaclose Park. The extension will cover the period 2026 to 2033 and will include a "further three-year option" for an extension up to and including 2036.

The council officers' report said the festival, which has been held each year since 2002, has had a "major economic benefit to the Island". It added: "The event is estimated to be worth over £15m a year to the island economy and introduces a new demographic of visitors to the island, many of whom will then continue to return both as festival goers but also long-term visitors with their families and friends. A new long-term relationship will ensure

South Africa - The Hilton Arts Festival (HAF) in KwaZulu-Natal, one of South Africa’s most celebrated cultural gatherings, returned this year with its hallmark mix of theatre, music, visual art, and family-friendly activities. Behind the performances and creative energy, however, was a quiet but profound tribute to the festival’s founder, Sue Clarence.

Three decades ago, Sue Clarence established the Hilton Arts Festival. She dreamed of creating a platform to celebrate diverse voices in the arts. Before she passed, her only request was that the festival should continue – without fuss or sentimentality. The event pressed on, vibrant, inclusive, and community-driven, just as she intended.

Carrying her legacy forward are Evan Roberts, Julia Clarence, and Duncan Bonella. They worked alongside Sue for years and embody her spirit of

Paragon is a perfect example of that approach.

“People who visit LDI want more than just technology. They want to be inspired, to feel empowered to c

UK - East London venue Troxy has begun its ‘most ambitious transformation in decades’, designed to ‘revive hidden heritage, boost the fan experience and increase the venue’s capacity to 3,600’.

The ambitious restoration of Troxy continues, with the intention to redefine what promoters and punters can expect from a night out at the Art Deco venue by improving fan comfort, accessibility, operational flow, and high-impact production potential.

At the heart of the works is the revival of Troxy’s long-sealed basement, which is being completely reimagined to include a permanent cloakroom, a new high-capacity toilet block, and structural upgrades to fire escapes that unlock more standing room in the main auditorium.

“We are really excited that the next stage of the restoration of Troxy has begun. This phase involves the reactivation of

Eurovision Vote - A vote is to be held on whether or not Israel should be allowed to participate in Eurovision next year. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has confirmed it will invite 68 member countries to give their view at a general assembly meeting in early November. In recent weeks, countries including Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Iceland and Spain have all said they would consider dropping out of Eurovision if Israel's involvement continued.

A decision will be taken by a simple majority, meaning that if more than 50% of members vote to exclude Israel, the country would not take part in 2026. Israel's continued participation in Eurovision has been controversial due to the ongoing war in Gaza, and several countries had already called for their exclusion.

The EBU confirmed all 68 member countries would be invited to vote, including bro

UK - Drawing an international audience, PLASA Show 2025 transformed Olympia London’s Grand Hall into a hub of live entertainment technology from 7-9 September. Welcoming over 30 new exhibitors, and with a focus on sustainability, skills and the people behind entertainment technology, this year’s show welcomed a 2.6% increase in overall attendance despite severe train strikes that challenged travel across the capital.

The surge in international visitors and the record number of students in attendance highlight how the industry continues to broaden its horizons and attract fresh talent, says the show’s organiser.

“Stepping out of the organiser role for a season let me see the industry from other angles,” says Robinson. “Running projects on the ground and spending time
