USA - For Alex Warren, it was a dream come true when Luke Combs had him come out on stage at Lollapalooza to join him in a cover of the young, rapidly-rising star’s No. 1 Billboard hit Ordinary. Warren, in turn, made another dream come true at Grant Park when David Summers served as the LD and board operator at his show at the festival.

Although Summers has toured the world with hit makers like Sum 41, this was the first time he was part of a show at the festival. “I’m a kid from Indiana, and my first shows were in Chicago,” noted Summers. “I fell in love with live music here. I never attended the festival as a fan without hopes I’d get to work with an artist who was playing one day. It took more than 15 years, but it happened! It was a truly amazing moment for me.”

As the LD and board op, Summers worked with a rig des

The Netherlands - Immediately after receiving the first production batch of the new KL CYC light at Elation’s European headquarters in Kerkrade, Bert Schmeits, Elation’s key account manager Benelux, and Dutch distributor Rolight decided to find a suitable venue to test the new fixture. The Wilminktheater in Enschede, conveniently located in the same city as Rolight, provided the ideal stage to put the KL CYC through its paces.

“We were given access to the stage at the Wilminktheater to experiment with the new cyc light,” Schmeits explained. “In order to properly assess how the fixtures behave when multiple units are placed next to each other, I brought four of them with me.”

The theatre’s 11m-high backdrop was illuminated from above using four KL CYC L units placed 2m away, side by side at 1m intervals, and operating at 50% intensity. T

Spain - When Dutch singer Yves Berendse took to the stage at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome in June for two sold-out concerts, he did so beneath a colossal Y-shaped LED screen that became the instant visual signature of the shows. Measuring 14m tall and 4m wide, the centrepiece was built to order by Dutch visual integration specialist MHB AV using AR3.9 panels from INFiLED’s AR Series of high-performance LED displays.

For Berendse, who shot to fame after his single Terug in de tijd (Back in Time) went viral on TikTok and topped the Dutch top 40 for six weeks, performing at the Amsterdam arena was a boyhood dream come true. To mark the milestone, his booking agency, Agents After All, conceived an ambitious stage design with a massive Y-shaped structure as its centrepiece – a challenge that required both the engineering and creative expertise o

The Netherlands - The 13th edition of ParkCity Live took place over the final weekend of June in the Bekkerveld park in Heerlen, the Netherlands. Lighting products from Infinity and Showtec played a prominent role this year, bringing both the Main Stage and Dance Tent to life.

This two-day festival has become known for its diverse line-up, laid-back atmosphere, and high production values. With performances ranging from rock and pop to dance and comedy, the event once again drew thousands of visitors from across the South Limburg region and beyond.

The technical production was in the hands of SLF Group Rental + Sales B.V., which has been closely involved with ParkCity Live for over 12 years. CEO Danny Juretzko has personally overseen the festival’s full production throughout their collaboration. He has also been responsible for the lighting on the M

Dodd Technologies was not only responsible for the game’s halftime show, headlined by GloRilla, but also for the musical team introductions and other performances that added entertainment value to the weekend telecasts. The company had previously worked on the 202

Belgium - De Roma – originally Kinema Roma – is one of Antwerp’s best-known and loved music venues and has recently added new Robe moving lights to its house rig, comprising 12 x LEDBeam 150s, 12 x LEDBeam 350s and 24 x TX1 PosiProfiles, all specified by lighting technicians Hans Lodewijckx and Roy Nonneman, and supplied by Controllux, Robe’s Benelux distributor.

The venue’s art deco building in the lively Borgerhout area of the city was designed by Alphonse Pauwels and originally constructed in 1927, opening as a 2,000-seat cinema, then the largest in Antwerp. The main entrance was remodelled in 1958 by architect Rie Haan and it became a popular music venue on the European touring scene in the 1970s before closing in 1982. 20 years later, the building was heritage classified and reopened as a vibrant cultural centre and performance space in May 20

Spain - At the end of May, Valencia became a time machine: at the Love the 90s festival, the open-air area in front of the Museu de les Ciències was transformed into a vibrant 90s party with acts such as Snow, 2 Unlimited, La Bouche, and DJ Sashe! The artists were accompanied by a spectacular light show by Spanish creative studio Experiencias Visuales, for which the lighting designer responsible, Edu Valverde, relied on more than 200 Cameo lights.

Edu Valverde, who has been responsible for the visual concept of the festival since 2017, once again focused on an impressive, geometrically clear stage design with large-scale set elements: “The stage should look like a monolithic structure and also serve as a projection surface for the LED videos.” A key design challenge was the seamless transition from bright daylight to darkness in the evening –

Germany - Internationally successful techno icon Paul Kalkbrenner returned to Berlin’s Wuhlheide in June with two sold-out open-air shows. Berlin-based TSE AG handled the entire technical implementation of the live spectacle – including sound, lighting, video and rigging. The show’s lighting design was created by Kalkbrenner’s LD, Tom Webber, and 1314 Productions GmbH.

For the design, the team deployed a combination of JDC2 IPs, impression X5 Bars and Mad Maxx. A total of 24 JDC2 IPs were positioned partly in the truss and partly on the floor, serving as powerful blinders as well as fast strobe and beam effects, giving the show a pulsating, rhythmic depth.

They were complemented by 32 impression X5 Bar 1000s, positioned in three clearly structured lines: 10 units were downstage, another 10 upstage and 12 as a horizontal line in the roof. This

Germany - This month, d&b audiotechnik and the Neue Nationalgalerie are presenting Soundscapes in the Garden, a series of immersive, site-specific performances that extends the museum’s Sculpture Garden into a dynamic, spatial sound installation. The event invites audiences to explore new synergies between sculpture and sound by using spatial audio as a sculptural medium in itself.

At the heart of the experience is the d&b Soundscape system, which empowers artists to use sound as a creative, spatial tool. The system integrates two software modules: En-Scene, which enables precise positioning and movement of sound sources, and En-Space, which provides real-time acoustic emulation. En-Space not only enhances the spatial depth of a performance but also creates a controlled, closed acoustic environment that benefits both the artist and the aud

USA - For the All-American Rejects’ offbeat and energetic House Party Tour, production manager and front-of-house engineer Brendan Goers knew the traditional big-rig approach wouldn’t cut it. With pop-up shows in backyards, skating rinks and compact event spaces, including a standout performance at a skating rink in Arkansas, the band needed gear that was compact, powerful and flexible enough to adapt to whatever space they landed in.

“We’ve had to fit where we fit,” said Goers. “Some of these shows have been in literal backyards. It’s been a lesson in rolling with the punches and putting the motto ‘the show must go on’ into practice.”

Goers relied on a JBL Professional system comprising of JBL SRX906 loudspeakers, SRX918 subwoofers, and PRX912 wedges, products he hadn’t used before the tour but quickly came to trust.

USA - Events United partnered with One If By Land Productions for the recent Fitz and the Tantrums show at Providence College’s Peterson Centre.

Project manager Martin Lyons, production designer Rachel Fahey, LD Ryan Lane, L2 Meg Fiske, and the rest of the Events United team were more than up to the challenge of adapting to design and produce a compelling show for the touring band. “For this event, we had the challenge to take the band’s show design, adapt it to what we had available for fixtures, and then have our LD run their show,” said Chase Clark, the director of event productions and rentals at Events United.

Working with a rig anchored by 74 Chauvet Professional fixtures, they created a sweeping and intense arena-style show that enveloped the entire room while reflecting the personality of the critically acclaimed six-piece band.

Saudi Arabia - A substantial zactrack PRO automated tracking system – with 32 x active trackers in use, and arguably the largest to date – was used by lighting designer Ben M Rogers from A Loud Minority (ALM) to deliver an automated follow spotting solution for the immersive Souk Wonders performance show staged at the Mayadeen Venue in Riyadh.

The zactrack system – server, trackers, and anchors – was supplied by German-based specialist TrackingPro to Souk Wonders’ lighting rental vendors PRG.

The 36 zactrack anchors were deployed to provide tracking of lighting across the full volume of the performing area, an 80m.sq/approximately 90,000 cubic metre space.

This configuration of 36 anchors – with some performers wearing two tags – in one system was possible due to not all the anchors being able to ‘see’ one

China - K-array’s audio solutions are becoming increasingly popular in China, offering transformative experiences across a range of environments. From shopping malls and restaurants to schools and corporate settings, innovations from this Italian manufacturer are proving vital in solving common integration challenges.

At Yintai in77 shopping mall, K-array’s Kayman KY102 loudspeakers were chosen by integrator HKBN JOS (Shanghai) Company. The KY102’s beam steering technology provided audio accuracy in a challenging open-air public space. A skybridge between mall buildings covered with LED advertising screens on three sides now utilises K-array’s crisp audio, whilst minimising noise pollution to nearby apartments.

The sleek form factor of the loudspeakers also ensures minimal disruption to the building’s appearance. A member of the integra

USA - Since forming in the late-1980s East Bay Area punk scene, Green Day have gone on to rack up over 70m in record sales, win multiple Grammy Awards and stage one of their most successful albums, American Idiot, as a Broadway production. The power trio - frontman Billy Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool - now routinely play to crowds of 80,000 or more at festivals, arenas and stadiums worldwide. Whatever the size of the venue, Schoeps microphones play a critical part in the band’s live sound in two key spots.

“Billy Joe wants to hear the crowd sing his songs back to him all night,” says Danny Badorine, Green Day’s monitor engineer for the past 18 months. He uses eight Schoeps MiniCMIT miniature shotgun microphones at every show to capture the energy of the audience for the lead singer and guitarist. “Those Schoeps mi
