USA - Six-piece multi-genre Australian band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard recently brought their energetic stage show to the United States on this summer’s Phantom Island tour, which featured collaborations with local orchestras on eight nights of the 12-date run. For the first time, the band’s FOH engineer Sam Joseph and monitor engineer Joe Santarpia, both longtime DiGiCo console users, were behind new small-footprint Quantum 326 desks, a change that delivered several significant benefits.

The reduced footprint of the two Quantum 326, which were supplied by Nashville-based Worley Sound, offered critical space savings at the FOH and monitor positions. That is ideal for a band still playing the occasional smaller venue, not to mention the truck pack, Joseph reports. “Often, our production trucks are packed high and to the door.” Wit

South Africa - Almost 100 of ADJ’s LED-powered wash fixtures were deployed by MGG Productions to illuminate Cape Town’s DHL Stadium. The project was designed to produce a vibrant backdrop – visible across the city – for the Earthshot Prize ceremony, which was held in Africa for the first time in 2024. Despite inclement weather, the ADJ fixtures performed flawlessly, lighting the stadium’s distinctive façade in a vibrant green to highlight the event’s environmental mission.

Inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s ‘Moonshot’ challenge in 1962 to land a man on the moon within a decade, the Earthshot Prize was launched by Prince William in 2020 to search for the most innovative solutions to the world’s greatest environmental challenges. Every year over the course of this decade, five solutions with the best chance of helping to achieve one o

France - For three decades, the Rio Loco festival has opened Toulouse's summer festivities, transforming the heart of the city into a vibrant celebration of world music. Located on the Prairie des Filtres site near Pont Neuf, the festival draws 6,000 daily attendees to its main stage, creating an electric atmosphere along the banks of the Garonne River.

However, as urban festivals face increasing scrutiny over noise pollution, Rio Loco found itself caught between delivering an exceptional musical experience and maintaining harmony with the local community.

The challenge was significant. Traditional sound system deployments were creating noise levels that exceeded acceptable limits in residential areas within 50m of the venue, with studies showing low frequencies were proving particularly problematic for neighbouring properties. After four years of fo

UK - London’s Future Stores brand activation space is now open on the city’s Oxford Street. It is a world first, where shoppers experience an immersive environment with 400m² of programmable LEDs – all powered by Hippotizer Media Servers.

Designed as a blank canvas for innovation, Future Stores provides an adaptable platform for brand activations, product launches, and experiential marketing. With rotating residencies every two to six weeks, retailers use the space to deliver campaigns that blur the line between digital storytelling and physical shopping.

“Mapping 153m pixels onto irregular LED surfaces required an ultra-reliable, high-performance solution,” said Nick Phillips, VP of solution engineering at Mood Media, the global AV content and brand-experience company behind the project. “Hippotizer gave us the power and precision we ne

USA - The 45th Milwaukee Irish Fest returned 14-17 August, drawing a total of 130,000 guests over the four-day event to the 75-acre Henry Maier Festival Park for what has become the world’s largest Irish music and cultural festival.

Now on their fourth year at Milwaukee Irish Fest, dBTechnologies USA struck the right chord on the festival’s Main Stage, partnering with AudioBiz to power performances from the Red Hot Chili Pipers, Cherish the Ladies, Hermitage Green, Maebh McGlinchey, The Howley Brothers, Elias Alexander, and The Bog Bodies.

System deployment and optimisation on the Main Stage was a collaborative effort between dBTechnologies USA’s Matthew Whitman, a veteran front-of-house and systems engineer now serving as national sales manager, and newly hired Scott Thompson, alongside AudioBiz’s Shawn ‘Redbeard’ McLoughlin and Brian Ch

Turkey - Every night, fans of Empire of the Sun, affectionately known as Empyreans, wait in line to see the Australian duo’s Ask That God tour. Many follow the band from city to city.

Less of a traditional concert, and more like an experience where sci-fi mysticism slams into concert energy, Ask That God blazes its own path in every possible way.

Oliver ‘Olly’ Suckling was more than up to the task on the long-awaited EU leg of the Ask That God tour, which concluded 30 August at Bonus Parkorman in Istanbul, after beginning in July at Sagres Campo Pequeno in Lisbon, with stops in Spain, Italy, The Netherlands, Germany, The UK, Poland, The Czech Republic, France, Belgium and other countries along the way.

After designing the show, Suckling ran it on a rig supplied by Lights Control Rigging (LCR), using t

Mexico - Tucked into a quiet residential block of Colonia Condesa, in Mexico City, OWL Hidden Bar inhabits what was once the storage space of a former restaurant. At just 102sq.m, its discreet footprint captures the spirit of a hidden bar – secrecy, intimacy, and the thrill of discovery.

Inspired by 1920s speakeasies, the project reimagines Art Deco geometry through a contemporary lens. A monolithic brass bar anchors the space, functioning as both centrepiece and stage. Around it, illuminated textiles and warm finishes balance brass, wood, concrete, and fabric, setting the scene for a night that shifts seamlessly between calm conversation and lively music.

When it came to sound, the project team initially had a different brand in mind. But that changed once they visited NTX Distribution’s showroom and heard 1 Sound for themselves.

USA - Located in downtown Miami, Gale Hotel Miami is a 51-story architectural landmark offering a blend of boutique hotel comfort, upscale condo living, and culinary haven, complemented by a wellness centre complete with a spa. Guests can indulge in a variety of dining experiences on the 9th floor, offering vistas of Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline.

Gale Hotel Miami hired Interlink Group to design the audio systems for the two restaurants on the 1st floor and the three restaurants on the 9th floor. Interlink, in turn, partnered with Designer Digital Systems to design the sound system, build the racks, and programme the system. With space for only one full-sized rack on the 9th floor and one in the mezzanine MDF room, and requirements to power many speakers at high SPL for parties, amplifier size and power were major considerations. Europe - Drake is getting his steps in. On his current $ome $pecial $hows 4 U Tour, co-headlined with Party Next Door and currently on its European leg through mid-September, the show features a stage which forms a ring around the standing room audience, with walkways running along the long end of the floor and larger stages at opposite ends of the arena. Drake typically performs across all the stages during a show. It’s a lot to keep up with, but the pair of DiGiCo Quantum852 consoles on an Optocore network that also supports three SD-Racks and one SD-MiNi Rack – all supplied by tour vendor Eighth Day Sound, a Clair Global brand – are more than up to the task.

“The Quantum852 is extremely flexible,” states tour monitor engineer Chris Lee. “Whatever we need, whatever anybody requests, I can do it. It’s the Swiss Army knife of consoles.

Chile - When the Chilean Army inaugurated the Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Carmen (Our Lady of Mount Carmel) in Santiago de Chile in July 2025, the event marked the consecration of the country’s first institutional church, serving as a spiritual home for service members and their families. With its soaring laminated wood arches, 14 stained-glass windows, and expanded 300-seat capacity, the new church was a symbol of faith and national identity, but it also presented a major acoustic challenge.

With a reverberation time of 4.5 seconds, even the most solemn words of the liturgy quickly became blurred, leaving parishioners disconnected from key moments of worship. To address this, Chilean HK Audio partner ProSound and distributor SETESA designed and installed a new sound system built around the HK Audio SI Series P10j.

The installation includes six SI

UK - St Michael’s Abbey is a small monastic community in Hampshire where Benedictine values and worship have been observed and preserved since the Abbey’s foundation in 1895. Living a traditional life of prayer, work and study, the community of monks at Saint Michael’s welcomed a recent upgrade of the Abbey’s AV, IT and security systems, a project led by specialist systems integrators Whitwam AVI.

Brother Michael, a resident of St Michael’s Monastery responsible for overseeing the community’s operations, reached out to Whitwam AVI following a visit he made to Saint George’s Chapel in Windsor. “I appreciated the attention to detail which had been taken to respect the surroundings when installing the technology at Saint George’s,” recalls Brother Michael. “On seeing the custom-coloured loudspeakers, I knew this would be a great solution f

This year’s event saw appearances from The Pet Shop Boys, The Smashing Pumpkins, Sex Pistols, and Iggy Pop, and was attended by more than 100,000 visitors. A newly added feature for 2025 was an intimate stage near the entrance to the main stage which hosted a series of Secret Sessions, a platform for local and emerging artists to shine at this high-profile event.

The small, outdoor Secret Sessions area hosted a wide variety of solo artists and full bands, requiring a compact and versatile, top-quality PA which combined hig

USA - Hip-hop act Wu-Tang Clan capped their touring career this summer with The Final Chamber, a 27-date North American farewell tour celebrating the New York group’s 30-plus years at the forefront of rap. An impactful production anchored the shows, with lighting designer Ben Walton and associate lighting designer/programmer Eliot Jessep relying on Elation’s Pulse Panel FX and Proteus Hybrid Max to deliver the eye-catching looks the milestone demanded. Lighting supply came from Fuse Technical Group.

The farewell concert series in June and July followed the April release of the album, Black Samson, the Bastard Swordsman.

Jessep, in his first collaboration with Wu-Tang Clan, joined the tour via director Jennifer Bui, with whom he had previously worked on The Kid Laroi and Lil Baby. “It was a natural flow into this project,” he

China - Christie reports that its partners, Jianye Display and Shanghai Qingying Digital Technology, have deployed more than 100 Inspire Series 1DLP laser projectors across multiple exhibition halls at the new Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum. The installations deliver vibrant, high-impact visuals that transform the museum into an interactive journey of scientific discovery with a distinctly futuristic feel.

Located in Guangming District, the museum is themed around Digital Civilisation, with architecture inspired by a giant spacecraft. Since its opening, the museum has drawn more than one million visitors in just three months, establishing itself as a leading hub for science popularisation in Shenzhen and a benchmark for innovation

UK - White Light supported the Watermill Theatre’s bold and atmospheric production of Jesus Christ Superstar, with lighting design by Rory Beaton. This reimagining of the rock opera transformed the intimate Berkshire venue into ‘a space of epic scale and spiritual resonance’, thanks in no small part to a lighting design that was both technically ambitious and emotionally precise.

From the outset, Beaton’s vision was clear: to turn the Watermill into a derelict, sacred space - part concert hall, part gothic chapel - where a group of storytellers could gather, instruments in hand, to share a timeless tale. “We wanted the space to feel like it carried architectural weight,” he explains. “To be able to flip between a raw, church-like intimacy and a full-blown concert aesthetic.”

With limited physical space and minimal scenic elem

UK - Gary Barlow’s 2025 Songbook tour visits a range of venue sizes and styles across the UK and Ireland so, for engineers, having a constant and reliable mixing console to work from is a necessity. Skan PA, a Clair Global company, supplied two DiGiCo Quantum 7s, allowing engineers to share stage racks, saving space on the truck and delivering peace of mind.

Luigi Buccarello is front of house engineer and has toured with Gary Barlow since jumping into the Take That tour of 2024, and reports:

“I’ve used DiGiCo consoles on and off for many years, but it is only in the last few that they have become my go-to choice,” Buccarello says. “I find the workflow intuitive, plus they are very reliable. I just love how immediate everything is. You never need to press more than a button to get where you need to, which makes it very fast to use.

Canada - By any measure, the numbers are impressive: 750,000 visitors from all over the world, over 10,000 participants in 120 events, a 2.2-k parade route plus 428 Chauvet Professional fixtures on the massive main stage and grounds.

Fierté Montréal (Montreal Pride Festival) has always been about far more than size, even though it is one of the largest pride fests in the world. At its core, this 11-day event in Montreal’s Olympic Village revolves around a deeper meaning, one based on the idea of all people living life to the fullest.

This philosophy was reflected in the theme of this year’s festival:  Blossom Here, Now! It also radiated from the uplifting lighting and production design created by Gil Perron that transformed the main stage and sprawling site in and around Olympic village into a visual wonderland that
