Sweden - Dalhalla, an open-air amphitheatre set in the former Draggängarna limestone quarry in central Sweden, is popular for its summer seasons featuring a range of music and artists – rock and pop, musicals and sometimes opera.

The venue invested in 20 new Robe iForte moving lights, delivered for its 2025 season which has just concluded. These are a well-received technical upgrade and have been used over the summer, explained the venue’s head of technical, Anders ‘Hebbe’ Herbertzon.

The new iFortes have replaced 18 x Robe MMX Spots that had been in service since 2012. Still going strong, these are now redeployed in another venue operated by Dalhalla’s management company, Rättvik Event in nearby Falun, which runs for the winter season.

Ireland - Originally constructed in the 16th century as a fortress to protect Cork Harbour, Blackrock Castle has undergone numerous transformations. Destroyed by fire in the 19th century, it was rebuilt for the city before entering private hands and becoming variously, a private residence, offices, rowing club HQ, and a restaurant. Reacquired by Cork Corporation in 2001, the building was renovated and repurposed as an observatory and museum under a joint venture between the City Council, Cork Institute of Technology, and a private benefactor.

Since opening in 2007 as a centre for scientific research, outreach and communication, the observatory, which houses an interactive astronomy centre open to the public, has welcomed more than 1.4m visitors. Earlier this year, the facility was closed to allow the upgrading of its technological provision, to better serve

UK - The Regent Centre is a 505-seat cinema and theatre that sits in the heart of Christchurch, Dorset. Having first opened its doors back in 1931, it still thrives today as a non-profit, multi-purpose venue with live music, comedy and community performance shows which help bring in over 100,000 visitors every year.

Following a mechanical inspection, it was decided that the venue required both a replacement of its auditorium chain hoist system as well as a new wing-masking system with curtain tracks and drapes – with all of this work being carried out by Solutions On Stage.

Solutions On Stage were first contacted by the Regent Centre’s technical manager Scott Gurd, who comments: “I was on the lookout for a new technical inspection company as I wanted to ensure that our performance space was as safe and technically efficient as possible. Solutio

India - Mumbai, India’s most populous city and financial capital, is currently undergoing significant redevelopment. In Bhendi Bazaar in particular, the expansive Saifee Burhani Upliftment Project is transforming the area into a modern and vibrant metropolis. A significant part of the ongoing project has been the renovation of the area’s Saifee Masjid.

Originally built in the early 20th century, the Masjid soon became the community’s primary place of worship. After almost 100 years of service, the building underwent significant reconstruction before reopening in September 2023. The updated structure blends architectural heritage with innovation, along with an audio-visual system to reflect the needs of modern-day worshippers. 12 Renkus-Heinz Iconyx Compact ICC12/3 loudspeakers were chosen as an integral part of this soundscape.

Spain - On the roof terrace of the boutique hotel Monsuau in Cala D'Or, Mallorca, guests can enjoy cocktails at sunset, listen to DJ sets and experience live shows – with a completely new sound and lighting system.

The installation service provider responsible for the new system, Sonomusic, developed a customised system based on solutions from LD Systems and Cameo. The audio and lighting setup is managed and controlled via the QUESTRA design and management software from LD Systems.

The requirements for the audio system were an appealing design to match the look of the rooftop bar, and even sound coverage without disturbing the hotel rooms below or neighbouring residential buildings. “By using the compact LD Systems MAUI i1 column loudspeakers and DQOR SUB 8 subwoofers, we found an optimal solution for this challenge,” explains Andreu Femenias,

UK - No Martin Audio dealer partnership has existed longer than that with Irish distributor Rea Sound, which dates back to 1982. Fast-forward 43 years and the system integrators continue to specify permanent Martin Audio solutions in a broad variety of facilities - most notably Houses of Worship.

Three churches demonstrate how Rea Sound has adopted a different approach to suit the needs (and protect the heritage) of the respective buildings.

One of these is St. Finnian’s Church of Ireland in Castlereagh, outside Belfast. States the church’s Mike Johnson: “We’d had our audio system since around 2017-2018. But with COVID came a necessity to stream services, and the rector asked me to put together a package. So I spoke to Rea Sound and very quickly they proposed a system which we installed five or six weeks later.”

Egypt - Three major mosques across Cairo - Al-Sayyida Nafisa, Osama Ben Zaid and Al-Ali Al-Azeem - have received major audio upgrades powered by JBL Professional and Crown. Each project, integrated by partner Audio Technology, reflects a tailored approach to acoustics in sacred environments, ‘uniting high-performance sound with architectural reverence to ensure sermons, recitations and prayers reach every corner with clarity and balance’.

Recently inaugurated during Ramadan by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Al-Ali Al-Azeem Mosque in Almaza, Heliopolis, represents one of the most ambitious house-of-worship projects in the region. Spanning 8,100sq.m and accommodating up to 5,000 worshippers across three floors, the mosque also houses a library, clinic, nursery, and classrooms, making consistent audio coverage a complex challenge.

Spain - Formerly known as Hotel Sofia, the transformation into the Grand Hyatt Barcelona has included the renovation of some of the five-star hotel’s most popular hospitality spaces, covering everywhere from the pool and terrace to the 19th floor rooftop restaurant. Sound quality and ease of use have been at the heart of the transformation, with loudspeakers from Electro-Voice and electronics from Dynacord central to the process.

The audio transformation started outside the hotel. “We began with the design of the pool and its bar creating a perimeter of outdoor speakers,” explains Mauricio Lombardi Gomez from Koala Projects SL, the company responsible for the installation. “The idea was to have exterior speakers taking into account the outdoor space but also having a bit of bass. We chose Electro-Voice speakers and Dynacord power amplifiers because o

USA - Ericsson has upgraded its 300-seat auditorium at its North American headquarters in Plano, Texas, delivering ‘a seamless and professional presentation environment powered by tvONE and Green Hippo solutions’.

The project, led by the executive team at Audio Visual Dallas, replaced outdated projection and switching systems with modern technology designed to ensure flawless visuals for both in-person and remote audiences. Under the direction of Dave Pollock and Jason Nix, with support from operations manager Allie Stewart, Audio Visual Dallas managed the project from design and programming through installation and commissioning.

“Before upgrading, the auditorium housed a less-than-ideal setup,” explained Nix. “The main visual was a decade-old rear-projection screen supported by two 85” LCD displays. Presenters relied on small floor moni

USA - St. Mark Greek Orthodox Church in Boca Raton, FL has implemented a system upgrade led by pro audio and lighting equipment supplier Sound & Lighting Solutions. The project, which included the installation of an EAW ADAPTive sound system, resolved the church’s long-standing acoustic challenges while preserving the space’s architectural splendour.

For years, the sanctuary stood as a visually stunning and architecturally rich space, but it struggled with a persistent challenge: poor acoustics. Inconsistent sound coverage, harsh reflections and low speech intelligibility continually distracted from the worship experience.

“When I first visited the space, I recognised the severity of the issues,” said Jay Krause, owner of Sound & Lighting Solutions. “The answer came in the form of four EAW AC6 ADAPTive Column Loudspeakers. The syste

Slovenia - Basilica Brezje and St. Jernej’s Church recently enlisted the help of Renkus-Heinz’s UBX loudspeakers to ensure visitors can enjoy improved speech intelligibility and clear audio.

Experienced acoustic engineer and project manager Mitja Borko took on the challenge to transform the sound in both venues, with a goal of enhancing clarity, increasing quality and lessening reverberation. After thoroughly testing a range of loudspeakers, the UBX Series UBX8 100V passive column loudspeaker from Renkus-Heinz was chosen. MTD Electronics, a Renkus-Heinz partner in Slovenia, handled the distribution of loudspeakers in both churches.

The UBX8 offers the sound quality and accurate beam-steering technology of Renkus-Heinz’s flagship Iconyx loudspeakers in a compact passive column, making it suitable for aesthetically sensitive buildings that still

USA - The Columbus district of Indiana is known as the architectural capital of America’s Midwest, housing a clutch of modernist buildings.

A good example of this high art is St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, constructed in 1988, and described as ‘an architectural masterpiece’. But for all its aesthetic beauty, delivering an evenly-distributed sound through the sanctuary to the 750 congregants - sat in a series of rising levels of concentric, but irregular circles - had proved historically difficult before the adoption of a Martin Audio line array.

Tasked with masterminding a sustainable PA upgrade, Alex Moon, director of engineering at the locally-based Force Tech, undertook a site survey. He immediately noted the asymmetric and non-aligned interior, with the sanctuary set around a central section flanked by two raked seating wings. He recognised

The upgrade supports the hotel group’s latest club concept, designed to engage a younger demographic with immersive, high-impact sound.

As a prominent player in Bahrain’s hospitality sector, Arch Hotel operates multiple properties across the region. The AV team, led by senior sound engineer Ajeesh KP, selected a comprehensive range of Harman Professional products for the new space.

“Based on my extensive experience with various brands, I can confidently say that my experience with Harman Professional audio products has been exceptional,” said Ajeesh. “This positive track record was a primary reason why, when our management planned to launch a new club

The Netherlands - Based in Domburg, Pulse Audio Video recently completed a significant audio upgrade at the Hotel De Zeevaartschool in Vlissingen on the country’s south-west coast. Located on the town's promenade, the beachfront Hotel De Zeevaartschool is housed in a former nautical college.

As part of the audio transformation, the hotel required a solution that could deliver both background music in its dining areas and provide for events including parties and other gatherings.

The Optimal Audio system installed by Pulse AV features multiple zones equipped with the company’s Cuboid 8 two-way, full-range 8” loudspeakers, complemented by low-profile Sub 10 subwoofers. The compact nature of the Sub 10 means that they can be discreetly integrated into seating areas. For extra power during parties and other events, the Cuboid 8 speakers can be enha

Brazil - For years, technical staff at the Comunhão Cristã Abba, a 3,500-capacity evangelical church in southern Brazil, had been considering replacing their underperforming PA system. But when Solid State Logic’s Brazilian distribution partner introduced them to an SSL Live, they soon realised the issue wasn’t the loudspeakers - it was the mixing desk.

Now equipped with an SSL Live L200 Plus at FOH and an L100 Plus at monitors, the church has experienced a significant uplift in audio quality, clearly noticed by both the technical team and the congregation.

Anderson Marcelino, chief engineer at Abba, had been expecting better clarity and headroom from the PA system. “But during the SSL Live demo, arranged by João Wesley Digigov - CEO of long-time AV partner JWD Audiovisual - we immediately noticed more SPL and improved system response. Bu

Slovenia - The national television broadcaster RTV Slovenia recently completed a major studio lighting upgrade, installing Elation KL Series fixtures in its newly redesigned Studio 3 in Ljubljana. The project marks a milestone for Elation’s presence in the Slovenian broadcast market.
