India - Mumbai, India’s most populous city and financial capital, is currently undergoing significant redevelopment. In Bhendi Bazaar in particular, the expansive Saifee Burhani Upliftment Project is transforming the area into a modern and vibrant metropolis. A significant part of the ongoing project has been the renovation of the area’s Saifee Masjid.

Originally built in the early 20th century, the Masjid soon became the community’s primary place of worship. After almost 100 years of service, the building underwent significant reconstruction before reopening in September 2023. The updated structure blends architectural heritage with innovation, along with an audio-visual system to reflect the needs of modern-day worshippers. 12 Renkus-Heinz Iconyx Compact ICC12/3 loudspeakers were chosen as an integral part of this soundscape.

USA - Back in 2020, the Newport Folk Festival introduced a bike powered stage, following the organisers’ desire to incorporate bicycles into the festival experience and provide an alternative power source for performances.

Masterminding this was Illiterate Light, a two-piece rock band from Virginia who had first experimented with the idea of carrying a simple sound system powered by bike, after setting up in 2015.

Eric Shy took over production manager duties as the tech scaled up, and the idea really took root after the band played the Quad Stage at the 2019 Newport Folk festival where 2000-plus bikes commuted to the festival. The festival loved the idea of bike-powered performance and invited Illiterate Light back in 2020 to become a full-blown stage at the festival (which has persisted to this day).

Spain - On the roof terrace of the boutique hotel Monsuau in Cala D'Or, Mallorca, guests can enjoy cocktails at sunset, listen to DJ sets and experience live shows – with a completely new sound and lighting system.

The installation service provider responsible for the new system, Sonomusic, developed a customised system based on solutions from LD Systems and Cameo. The audio and lighting setup is managed and controlled via the QUESTRA design and management software from LD Systems.

UK - No Martin Audio dealer partnership has existed longer than that with Irish distributor Rea Sound, which dates back to 1982. Fast-forward 43 years and the system integrators continue to specify permanent Martin Audio solutions in a broad variety of facilities - most notably Houses of Worship.

Three churches demonstrate how Rea Sound has adopted a different approach to suit the needs (and protect the heritage) of the respective buildings.

With a large channel count, congested spectrum, and the pressure of a high-profile live environment, Patchwork required a solution that could deliver bulletproof reliability, centralised monitoring, and flexible control.

Spain - Formerly known as Hotel Sofia, the transformation into the Grand Hyatt Barcelona has included the renovation of some of the five-star hotel’s most popular hospitality spaces, covering everywhere from the pool and terrace to the 19th floor rooftop restaurant. New Zealand - When Taieri Musical staged Jesus Christ Superstar at Dunedin’s Regent Theatre, a full JBL Professional sound system powered the rock opera with ‘clarity, impact and energy’.
