Italy - Nine years after his death, Luciano Pavarotti still attracts thousands of fans and followers. The residence of the Master in Modena, Italy, was turned into a museum and inaugurated during last year's Expo in Italy. Now it has become a permanent project.

A few kilometres from the city of Modena, the ancient villa represents an important part of the tenor's life and it contains a vast collection of personal items, souvenirs and scene costumes that Pavarotti was particularly fond of. Unreleased pictures and videos are projected in the rooms where the Master spent his last years, and constitute a great opportunity to get to know more directly the artistic and human heritage of the tenor.

USA - MUSIC has announced the appointment of Goldsmith Sales & Marketing as its manufacturer representative firm for the Northwest Territory states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska. USA - Midas flagship console, the PRO X, was put to use as America's largest pops orchestra, The Philly POPS, opened festivities for Wawa Welcome America, Philadelphia's citywide Fourth of July celebrations. The 65-piece Philly POPS is the largest pops orchestra in the United States which boasts a repertoire of songs from colonial times up through today's chart toppers.

Against the dramatic backdrop of Independence Hall, the POPS performed a lively score of well-known tunes to the town's crowd, which gathered for one of the main highlights of the week-long patriotic festival.

Andre Houser, chief engineer of Houser Audio, has overseen the sound design and served as FOH engineer for The Philly POPS over the last eight years as the orchestra has grown to serve an audience of over 100,000 per year.

France - On 14 July, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, more than 400,000 spectators celebrated Bastille Day, the National Holiday in France, marking the beginning of the modern French nation. China - Popular Chinese pop singer, music producer and professional guitarist and 'New Asian King' Li Ronghao recently kicked off his "ideal world tour" with a concert at the Mercedes Benz Arena in Shanghai. The tour is being reinforced by an Adamson E-Series PA provided by Beijing Global Visual Culture Development Co. Ltd.

"We are using a combination of 36 E15, 42 E12, 16 E218 and 18 E219 on the tour," explains Beijing Global Owner Li Ran. "This package provides the flexibility to cover virtually any venue we are dealing with."

On the first show at Mercedes Benz Arena Shanghai on 9 July the PA consisted of left-right hangs of 12 E15 over 6 E12 line array modules with side-hangs made up of 12 E12 modules each. UK - The Shure UK Systems Group provided RG Jones with product and technical support for upgrades to the audio infrastructure at the historic Ely Cathedral, Cambridgeshire, including a QSC Q-Sys audio network installation.

Shure Systems Group's Q-Sys experts collaborated with RG Jones project engineer Jake Miller in the development of the bespoke Q-Sys infrastructure. Combining a Core 250i, I/O frame and QSC ISA300Ti amplifiers, the Cathedral's Q-Sys system is separated into 10 zones to address the requirements of the various and diverse worship services, ceremonial events and meetings held daily throughout the 167m long cathedral.

Q-LAN - the audio-over-IP audio networking component of Q-Sys - is used to combine the elements that handle the audio and control the system separately over a straightforward Layer 3 network utilising standard network switches.

Argentina - Midas and Klark Teknik rental company, Perrone Sonido, has been conducting in-depth training with sound engineers to build on Midas' presence in the country. The rental company, led by Carlos Maria Perrone, has recently hosted a two-month series of training seminars in the country's capital of Buenos Aires.

Perrone, also known locally as 'The Dog', is no newcomer to the Midas brand, having been a brand ambassador since first coming into contact with the Venice 320, which he has utilized for countless live shows.

Slovakia - The Slovakian government holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union from July to December 2016, a role which rotates between member states every six months. Yamaha TF1 digital mixing consoles have been chosen for the vital role of mixing the local and broadcast audio for ministerial meetings, leader summits and press conferences.

The historic Reduta building in Bratislava has been especially renovated to host the Council during the Slovak presidency. Originally a Baroque granary built in 1773, the building has been the home of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra since the 1950s. Leading Slovakian AV company MediaTech Central Europe was invited to install the necessary technical equipment for the building's new role and chose Yamaha equipment for the audio infrastructure.

France - Loudspeaker manufacturer APG has hired two new engineers, thus reinforcing its core business. The announcement is in line with the objectives set by the company when it joined forces with Active Audio in April 2016.

The company's R&D department welcomes Charlotte Gegout. Charlotte brings 10 years of experience as a sound technician in the entertainment industry, before she completed her degree at the prominent Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM) and graduated as an acoustical engineer. Since joining APG in June, Charlotte has taken on a research project on the development of new technologies in acoustic loads.

Norway - Stormen Concert House, the new home of the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra, has added a d:facto Vocal Microphone to its extensive stock of DPA microphones - all of which are regularly used for both recording and amplification purposes.

The new d:facto Vocal Microphone, which was supplied with a handle and an adapter to fit the concert hall's Shure wireless system, is proving so popular with visiting singers that Stormen is hoping to add more in the near future.
