USA - The Atco Dragway opened in Atco, New Jersey over 50 years ago and has thus been the setting for many of the memories most cherished by Northeast drag-racing enthusiasts. Its quarter-mile strip sees action more days than not (in addition to weekend events, weekday events are commonplace), making Atco Dragway one of the busiest dragways in the country.

However, the thunder from the engines was, until recently, the only full-frequency effect at Atco. All of the sound reinforcement squeezed its way into the world through anemic paging horns. Now, fully-weatherproofed, full-frequency Danley OS-80 loudspeakers backed by Ashly processing and amplification keep up (if only sonically) with the dragsters at Atco.

USA - UK-based singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding is currently in the middle of an extensive tour that kicked off in Europe in January with Adlib Audio and includes two North American legs extending into late June, with European and US festival dates plus shows in Australia and New Zealand keeping her on the road through mid-October.

The Delirium World Tour's North American dates, with audio production handled by Eighth Day Sound, include a full complement of DiGiCo mixing consoles - an SD5 at front-of-house with an SD10 available for opening acts, and an SD7 at the monitor position.

UK - FBT Audio UK has moved to new warehouse and office premises in Rochester, Kent, following a period of exceptional growth, says company MD, Mark Parkhouse.

"Sales of FBT audio products and JTS microphones have increased so much during the past year that we had run out of space in our previous facility," he said. "What we needed most was a considerable increase in warehouse space so that we can make more products available for quick delivery. Built around two nine-hole crazy golf courses, Swingers also features a dining area with street food, a two-tier clubhouse and five bars.

Run by the Institute of Competitive Socialising (ICS), it not only hosts corporate crazy golf sessions for the business world - bringing the outside indoors - but then transforms the 16,000sq.ft of space into a more upbeat vibe after dark, with nightly DJs. UK - Specialists in delivering high octane sound for international EDM events, Capital Sound returned to the award-winning We Are FSTVL site at Damyns Hall Aerodrome in Upminster over May Bank Holiday, fielding their premier Martin Audio MLA system on the three main stages.

Russia - An Allen & Heath dLive digital mixing system recently managed a special concert in the Philharmonic Hall of Astrakhan, in the southern region of Russia.

The system, consisting of an S5000 Control Surface and DM48 MixRack, was equipped with Dante, Waves and MADI network cards, and managed both FOH and monitor sound, as well as providing a multi-channel recording.

The concert was performed by Makhov's Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments, named after its first artistic director and conductor, Vyacheslav Makhov. Based in Astrakhan, the orchestra tours musical festivals all around the country, and staged a special home coming performance.

Sword has been The Feeling's FOH man almost from the outset, bonding with them 10 year ago, at their inception and sharing a love of great sounding pro audio gear. "They're a band who are very into sound, they're proper audio buffs. They can all mix, they can all produce and they can play each other's instruments. So it is either the best gig you have had, or it's the worst, it happens to be the best."

UK - Built on the site of a Benedictine monastery founded in 792AD, St Mary's Church in Hitchin dates back to the 14th century in its current form. But despite its long history, the building's sound system is required to perform to modern standards, and a recent improvement program (carried out by church audio specialists DM Music) saw an array of Audio-Technica microphones and an Allen & Heath Qu-Pac digital mixer installed in place of an outdated radio mic set-up.

UK - RCF UK has announced the appointment of SigNET (AC) as its specialist distributor in the UK for the DXT 3000 Emergency Evacuation System.

In addition to the Italian manufacturer's EN 54-16 certified DXT 3000, SigNET will also be able to offer sales of RCF's associated EN 54 certified voice alarm products into the fire alarm and security systems market within the UK. These are being shown for the first time on stand G140 at FIREX International 2016 this week (London ExCeL, 21-23 June).

Adamson Systems Engineering has announced the expansion of their APAC team with the addition of James Ritter, who will serve as sales manager for the region. The announcement was made by David Dohrmann, technical director, Asia Pacific for Adamson. Ritter is tasked with continuing to build relationships and brand perception in the APAC region.
