The extra wireless channels were purchased in order to realise the challenging London-based production of Close To You, the hit musical production presenting the songs of Burt Bacharach. In summer 2015, the show began a run at the fringe Menier Chocolate Factory in Southwark, London - by October, it had been such a success that it transferred to the Criterion Theatre in Piccadilly Circus, in the heart of London's West End.

Australia - TDC - Technical Direction Company, has announced the completion of its first full, multi-purpose mobile outside broadcast vehicle that offers full HD broadcast and production facilities.

"For the past 35 years we have been a pioneer in entertainment technology solutions and we know what works for live audiences, on stage as well as on camera. We have integrated camera systems into projects for many years so it was a natural progression to extend our existing flypack solutions to the new HD01 outside broadcast vehicle," says Michael Hassett, CEO at TDC.

In collaboration with TDC, the teams from Sony Professional Solutions Asia Pacific, Imagine Communications, Riedel, Fujinon, Miller, and Yamaha have assisted to produce TDC HD01, a fully customised rigid facility that has a focus on functionality and comfort.

Italy - One hundred and fifty DTS moving heads - Evo, Raptor and Nick NRG 1201 - were utilised for five evenings the leading Italian song contest, the Sanremo Festival, which was attended by major international artists such as Sir Elton John, Ellie Goulding and Maitre Gims.

The Festival, broadcast live on Eurovision, was held in the historic Teatro Ariston 9 to 13 February.

The artistic director and conductor of the Festival has repeatedly praised the eye-catching lighting of the event.

Mexico - As part of a five-day state visit, Pope Francis arrived in the famous Zocalo square in Mexico City, where a huge stage, surrounded by Nexo STM PA clusters, was prepared in front of the Palacio Nacional and a crowd of 40,000.

This was his first visit to Mexico, the most Catholic country in the Spanish-speaking world. At this ceremony, the head of Mexico City's federal government presented the Pontiff with the keys to the city. As he did a walkabout through the Zocalo, greeting the faithful, the Cathedral bells sounded out and orchestras played Mexican music on stage.

USA - Bandit Lites once again worked with three-time ACM nominee Thomas Rhett, providing the lighting package for the We Were Here Tour 2016 with Jason Aldean.

Collaborating with both Thomas Rhett and tour manager Logan Kornegay, lighting designer Nick Whitehouse built upon their general concept to create the final lighting design.

"Thomas Rhett has some really great ideas and has a fantastic team around him; it really was a pleasure to work with them all and get this together," said Whitehouse.

What may look like a standard rolling floor package reveals itself to be compact custom video and lighting lifts that extend to a full height of nearly 30ft above the stage. Whitehouse specifically chose lightweight fixtures that could be hidden within the lifts while still providing powerhouse beams and spot looks.

USA - Starting out with just 96 members in 1969, St. James United Methodist Church has grown into one of the largest Methodist churches in Arkansas with over 3,600 members. Nestled in West Little Rock, the church recently concluded a successful capital campaign resulting with enough money to build a teen bistro, eight new classrooms, and the Jones Fellowship Hall, among other facilities and upgrades.

A variety of Elation gear was used to light CBS network's three main television sets while Elation ELAR Q1 colour-changing PAR lights were mounted in the stage deck for the spectacular Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show.

Illuminate Production Services of Sacramento provided the Elation products for CBS's exclusive Plaza, Field and Tailgate Super Bowl 50 sets, the main on-site broadcast settings for an event that proved to be the most-watched television program in U.S. television history.

Slovenia - National television channel, RTV Slovenia, has recently invested in a new dot2 XL-F and a dot2 Node4 (1K) for use in the smaller studios throughout its HQ in Ljubljana, as well as for OB projects and other mobile applications. The console was specified by Bojan Repic, responsible for the purchase and maintenance of new equipment and technologies in the lighting department and head of lighting, Bojan Lenart.

Bojan Repic is also a moving light programmer and operator for many productions covering news, documentaries and information programmes as well as entertainment including dramas, films and music projects. A major investment in 250 of SGM's multi-purpose Q-7s, an IP65-rated combination flood/strobe/blinder, augments a department which already contains over 100 G-Spots, as well as P-5 and P-2 wash lights.

Europe - Nexo has posted new dates for its popular ETC training seminar programme, including some sessions dedicated to the company's flagship modular line array design, the STM Series.

All Nexo seminars are free of charge to students and the scope of the ETC programme ranges further than just Nexo products. ETC1 looks at generic issues of sound reinforcement such as acoustic fundamentals, and the theoretical approaches of point source and line array systems. All seminars include practical hands-on training with Nexo's own loudspeaker technologies.
