USA - Mike Borne set-up Allstar Audio Systems, a full-service sound, lighting, video and staging company, back in 1984. Since then, the Tennessee and Florida-based venture has been adding to its inventory as often as possible and Borne recently supplemented his existing DiGiCo stock with extra consoles.

According to Borne, his purchasing decisions are made from relationships, observations and a comfort factor. "Several years ago while attending an AES convention in San Francisco, Big Al (Allan Nichols) introduced me to a couple of Brits, in town promoting the product lines of the company they were working for at the time. Those two Brits were none other than Bob Doyle, and David Webster. They both had infectious personalities, and I had a great time hanging out with them, enjoying their British humour.

"I do several events each year where National Touring Artists com

UK - With the opening of the new Beach Blanket Babylon, The Sound Division Group has carried out its second sound system installation for owners Robert Newmark and Graham Rebak.

A stark contrast from the original 17-year-old restaurant in Notting Hill, with its eclectic décor, the new four-storey warehouse, which will open in phases, is typical of the Shoreditch area. David Graham's installation company has opened its account by fitting a highly-specified DJ booth and supplying a transparent Martin Audio sound reinforcement system (finished in custom black), under the project management of JLC's Richard Astley and Sound Division's Elliot Patterson.

They have provided optimum sound quality in both the basement (dominated by its central bar) and ground floor, while the first floor contemporary art gallery will be next to receive the Sound Division treatment. The basement

Germany - K.M.E. will introduce additions to its Versio series at ProLight & Sound in Frankfurt.

UK - BRIT Award-nominated English pop-rock band The Feeling had a busy 2007. They spent much of the first part of the year on a major British tour, and took the stage again in June to steal the show at The Concert For Diana at Wembley Stadium. 2008 promises to be even busier, as the promotional circus for second album 'Join With Us' begins in earnest this February.

The band spent much of last year holed up in a stately home in Wiltshire writing and recording 'Join With Us', the follow up to the smash hit, 'Twelve Stops And Home'. And an essential part of that process was the delivery of a selection of Sennheiser and Neumann microphones that enabled the band to create release-quality audio in a house not designed with 21st Century recording as its primary concern.

"We took advantage use of the wonderful acoustics in the wood panelled, tapestry-lined dining hall," expl

Germany - Germany-based manufacturer axxent will introduce a new one-channel, 400W amplifier in a 2U, 19" chassis at the forthcoming ProLight&Sound exhibition in Frankfurt (12-15 March 2008).

The amplifier features a low impedance output, as well as 50/70/100V constant voltage outputs. The outputs may be used simultaneously as long as the total of 400W loudspeaker load is not exceeded, say the company.

Under normal working conditions, the amplifier operates quietly, benefiting from its passive convection cooling. When the maximum performance is required and its passive cooling ribs exceed a given temperature, a quiet and controlled fan aids the cooling system. This feature makes the AX-1400T power amplifier an ideal choice for churches and other noise-sensitive applications.

All output connectors are fully touch proof isolated to comply with European Safety Standard EN6

Kling & Freitag will also introduce the smallest speaker in their product range. The passive two-way speaker is equipped with a 5" bass chassis and a 1" dome driver with a coupled 'Waveguide'. With its uniform and wide coverage, the system is ideally suited for near field applications, says the company.<
