USA - Debuting at NAMM 2008, The EVID FM series of flush mount in-wall speaker systems is the next generation of high performance background and foreground installed speaker systems from Electro-Voice.

Comprising the FM6.2 (6" woofer, 6" tuned passive radiator, 1" tweeter) and the FM4.2 (4" woofer, 4" tuned passive radiator, 1" tweeter), the new members of the EVID product family offer "a combination of superb audio quality, sturdy sealed unit construction, and aesthetically pleasing in-wall design".

Russia - Midas' Russian distributor Theatre Technics and Technology (TTT), has supplied a Heritage 2000 console to the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the Russian Orthodox Church's largest cathedral, able to accommodate 10,000 worshippers.

UK - For its newly refurbished chamber, Hartlepool Borough Council chose beyerdynamic's MCW-D 50 Digital Wireless Conference System. Blaydon Communications was successful in tendering for the project which also required the supply of induction loop and infra-red facilities, plus a discreet high performance sound reinforcement system.

The Council has to cater for up to 40 councillors in each meeting, but it was felt that the layout of the room permitted the use of one microphone unit between two delegates; this was possible due to the characteristic pick-up pattern of the MCW-D microphone capsule and flexible microphone stem. A total of 27 MCW-D 521 delegate microphone units plus an MCW-D 523 chairman unit make up the system, which is supplemented by two hand-held radio microphones for members of the public to address the meeting if required.

USA - The new Electro-Voice SB2A powered 12-inch subwoofer, introduced at NAMM 2008, eliminates the need for external system processing and amplification, addressing the demand for lightweight high performance portable sound systems, says the company.

Featuring dual 350 watt amplifiers, the SB2A's switchable powered speaker output can drive either an external 8 ohm passive subwoofer or full range loudspeaker.

Typical SB2A-powered system setups include: with a ZX1-90, as a standalone PA that fits in the front seat of your car; in clusters with SX100/300; with a passive SB122, for portable lightweight sub extension to replace bulky 15-inch two-way systems (two 16kg packages vs. one 40kg package); with an additional powered top box (such as the SXA100+).

The SB2A shares the same injection-molded enclosure as EV's popular passive SB122 subwoofer. Both utilise the EVS12S woofer,

Germany - Peter Maffay played a pre-Christmas charity show in front of 600 people at the Porsche customer centre in Leipzig. Sound reinforcement was provided by QSC's flagship audio products, including the WideLine10 line array and PowerLight PL380 amplification.

Due to its conical construction, the Porsche Customer Centre provided Gert Pasemann from CWC Pasemann, who was responsible for the technical execution of this event, with a number of sound reinforcement problems, since the building tapers off.

Given these acoustic challenges, he contacted Shure Distribution, QSC's German distributor, for technical and product support. Upon consultation, Santiago Alcalá, system specialist for QSC in Europe, Middle East and Africa, flew to Leipzig to provide on-site support.

Prior to the concert, Alcalá and CWC Pasemann engineers used QSC's EASE Focus software to assess different sp

A PA system was hired in for the theatre's inaugural event, Midnight Specials with Dieter Falk and his band giving the audience an opportunity to audition the exceptional performance of the new system. Before the final decision co
