UK - Void Acoustics reports that its Air Series products are gaining ground in the UK club market, marked by their latest installation at Harveys, a popular night venue in Bedford. Void's Airten mid-high loudspeaker systems, along with its Impulse 5t low-frequency design, have been specified and installed by JHA Entertainment as part of an extensive fit-out at the venue, involving audio, lighting and multi-screen video systems.

James Allison of JHA Entertainment commented: "Harveys is a smart, 400-capacity late-night bar, and the single pair of Void's Airten systems, together with their Impulse sub, provides plenty of powerful coverage throughout the venue. This was a very pleasant surprise for the owners, who were initially expecting to see rather more loudspeakers. The Void Acoustics systems are ideal for this type of install, needing very few enclosures to produce dance-

UK - Liverpool's Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre (the AAC Liverpool) is a configurable 10,000 seat arena with rolling mother grid plus a 7,000sq.m multipurpose hall featuring a 32-strong JBL Vertec VT4887A line array with 16 VT4880A subwoofers supplied by Merseysound.

Managing director of Merseysound, Colin Reader says: "We've been using JBL now ever since Harman started. We've been using JBL equipment for over seven years now and we're very happy with it. We can break the line array up into four hangs and again for the arena, we can split it up into twelve hangs per side at the front and then two lots of four at the back as delay lines. It's very flexible and if we're doing a smaller venue, we can ground stack it as well which gives us a little more versatility."

The line array is accompanied by 12 Crown iTech8000 amplifiers and two DBX DriveRack 4800 systems pr

Russia - Moscow's Red Square played host to the debut Kremlin Zoria festival of military marching bands. Central to the sound reinforcement system, a TiMax Audio Imaging delay matrix enabled the performers' amplified sound to follow their movements accurately around the vast arena.

Tattoo events around the world follow a long-established template provided by the Edinburgh original. In this respect the inaugural Russian event was no exception. Marching bands from the Moscow Garrison and German Army Corps were joined by the perennially-massed Scottish bagpipers and drummers. The event's musical highlights included excerpts from Tchaikovsky and Beethoven, along with a special arrangement of Amazing Grace performed by the band of the British Coldstream Guards.

The sheer dimensions of the Moscow arena, however, added a further challenge for the sound design team, headed by E

Denmark - In Copenhagen, the new Royal Danish Playhouse, or Det Kongelige Teater, is one of the first arts venues in Europe to install Studer's Vista 5 digital consoles at front-of-house, one on its Main Stage and one on the smaller Portscenen, or Gate Stage.

The harbor-side Playhouse, which has been designed by Danish architects Boje Lundgaard and Lene Tranberg, commands a prime location opposite the Royal Opera, also a customer of Studer's Vista technology. The Playhouse is the new home for the Royal Danish Theatre, and has three discrete performance spaces. The Main Stage seats 750 theatre-goers and its horseshoe-shaped galleries are inspired by northern Italian renaissance theatre. The secondary stage, seating 250, is named Portscenen (or 'The Gate Stage'), reflecting the fact that the large, gate-like doors in the northern wall can be opened to draw the stage out onto the q

Europe - Marilyn Manson performed a series of arena dates in Europe recently, carrying a massive Meyer Sound system, supplied by Taylor, Michigan-based Thunder Audio.

The main system, comprising two arrays of 15 Milo high-power curvilinear array loudspeakers and one Milo 120 high-power expanded coverage curvilinear array loudspeaker per side, was augmented by two more side-hangs of six Milos each. 12 700-HP subwoofers per side provided a powerful bottom end.

Front-of-house engineer Dave Nicholls comments: "We don't use front-fills, as Mr. Manson is in the pit for much of the show."

Bruce Danz, Manson's monitor engineer adds, "At Thunder Audio, we know that no other system beats the Milo. It installs easily, and with no amp racks to deal with. It also saves a lot of time in setup and teardown."

The stage monitoring system includes four Mica curvilinear a

UK - Kings of Leon used Britannia Row's Turbosound Aspect system for the initial part of their European tour.

FOH engineer Brent Rawlings reports: "The system is covering really well, I'm impressed. We are working on how to set things up so that when you have two stacks of bottom there's not just one strip of intense sub down the very middle of the PA. We want to have a very evenly dispersed bottom end everywhere and that takes a little experimentation, but we will get something nice."

The tour has taken in arena-sized venues and, generally speaking, the system has comprised two hangs of TA-890H and L flown five wide by five deep with a TA-500HM trapezoidal mid/high down-fill enclosure beneath each hang. "These are wedge shaped boxes that can face at a very steep angle towards the people that are standing underneath them and will cover right up to the stage,&quo

Denmark - A TTA Stagetracker performer tracking system has been chosen for the main auditorium at Copenhagen's Royal Danish Playhouse which opens in February.

For its Main Stage, the Playhouse has commissioned TTA and its Scandinavian distributor Benum to provide a Stagetracker 16XR audio tracking and positioning system, which uses MIDI to control TiMax audio imaging software from British company Outboard Electronics.

From its position in the truss above the stage, a single intelligent Stagetracker RadioEye receiver is able to provide coverage of the entire 16m x 16m (52ft x 52ft) stage. The RadioEye calculates the actors' positions and feeds positional information to the Stagetracker software which also incorporates a 3D view of the stage, and gives a visual representation of the actor's movements in real time.

Indonesia - For two consecutive nights, more than 14,000 people packed the Jatim Expo in Surabaya, Indonesia, for the Power of God Festival (Festival Kuasa Allah). This annual Christian revival, headed by the charismatic Pastor Philip Mantofa, featured preaching and energetic music - a mixture of Western and Indonesian styles - from a 10-piece band and an 80-voice choir. To deliver the presentation with full intensity to the furthest corners of the venue, the festival relied on a system anchored by 20 of Meyer Sound's M3D line array loudspeakers.

"The Jatim Expo is large, about 60m by 120m (197ft by 393ft), so it needed a lot of power," says Rudy Winarto, managing director of system supplier Melodia Sound & Lighting Systems of Jakarta. "We also had many open mics on stage. Fortunately, the directional control of the M3D and the M3D-Subs made it possible to get ple
