It was in fact, RégieTeK who had distributed CODA products in France until it was agreed that the brand required a stronger and more streamlined commercial structure through which to access the French market. RégieTeK's continued faith in CODA, speaks volumes.

The inception of CODA Audio France came about as a result of a conflue

UK - FBT UK has announced the introduction of the new JTS SGM-14 'shotgun' microphone.

Designed for ENG, outdoor recording and other specialised uses, the hypercardioid, electret-condenser SGM-14 provides the narrow acceptance angle required for these applications and comes with both low cut and pad facilities included. Its extreme directivity enables it to reject or cancel unwanted signals, making it ideal for long distance miking at sport venues, for front-of-stage use for picking up audience reaction and ambience and similar distance applications.

A 78dB signal to noise ratio means the JTS SGM-14 keeps background noise at a very low level, while a full 20-20,000Hz frequency response guarantees audio fidelity. Operating on 9-48 VDC phantom power, the 366.7mm long SGM-14 is built to the usual rugged JTS professional standard and comes complete with a windscreen and mic ho

South Africa - Audio Engineer Mickey Beck has been with Josh Groban for 12 years and Chris 'cookie, Hoff has been with Josh for three years. They recently came to South Africa on the Stages tour where they worked on two DiGiCo SD10 consoles with waves and two 2SD Racks.

The Stages Tour took in Johannesburg (Ticketpro Dome), Durban (ICC Durban Arena) and i Cape Town (Grand Arena, GrandWest) with the full technical supplied by Gearhouse South Africa.

"The main reason we have chosen DiGiCo consoles for the Josh Groban Stages tour was its scalability with a cohesive UI throughout the model range. There is no typical Josh Groban configuration. A show may be just Josh with piano or a trio which adds a guitar," said Beck "There have been shows where Josh has sung with an orchestra or orchestra and full electric band. We needed a console line that would allow us to move our work u

UK - When popular, multi award-winning folk band Bellowhead embarked on their farewell tour, their FOH engineer Andy Bell opted for Soundcraft's new Vi7000, eager to try it for the first time.

The respected engineer and record producer, working in the folk genre, was already familiar with the topology of Soundcraft's earlier Vi6, and with his work doubling between that of a live and studio engineer, he knew the benefits of having a full suite of plug-in options at his disposal - and although he considered other options, he was aware that Soundcraft's dedicated Realtime Rack engine runs Universal Audio plug-ins.

This would give him the versatility for keeping the rollicking sound from a theatrical 11-piece traditional band, playing a mix of traditional dance tunes, folk songs and shanties, with their acoustic instrumentation fresh.

"There was a fantastic range of instrumentation to manage but these guys ca

UK - Suspend your disbelief for a moment and imagine a concert performance that travels through Wagner's Ring Cycle to a string quartet by Mozart by way of the Nine Inch Nails. In terms of dynamic range, contrast in styles and instrumentation, this flimsy analogy only begins to describe the complexity of what is being undertaken on the current concert tour by Hans Zimmer.

While younger audiences will know Zimmer for his many super hero movie scores, most recently Batman V Superman, he has never-the-less inhabited our ears since the early eighties. First gaining attention, in the UK at least, for his work on My beautiful Laundrette, Zimmer has never neglected the human condition: Rainman, Thelma and Louise and more recently Twelve Years a Slave all pay testament to his sensitivity and diversity. To make possible a live rendition of such variet

This project was a huge collaborative effort with a number of different contributors all handpicked by the RSC. Norway - Norway is the first European country with permanent installations of the compact Meyer Sound Leopard linear sound reinforcement system.

Leopard's remarkable flexibility and versatility made it the choice for two very different venues. The 1,200-seat Grand Hall at Studentersamfundet (Student Society) in Trondheim uses Leopard to support community events such as theatrical performances and conferences, while the Leopard system at Oslo's 650-capacity Vulkan Arena primarily powers hard rock shows.

"When we first saw Leopard we were amazed by its size," reports Torgeir Aadland, project consultant for audio renovations at the Grand Hall. "It was easily one of the smallest in its class, and we had some concern about it performing to our standards. But Leopard has provided excellent sound quality even at the highest levels, and gives us even horizontal coverage - it's eve

USA - Based on the life of Alexander Hamilton, of the USA's founding fathers, Hamilton - An American Musical is enjoying commercial and critical success on Broadway. The show has already earned the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2016 Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album, but is also nominated for 16 Tony awards.

Having gained success with an Alcons system on the Steve Martin/Edie Brickell musical Bright Star, sound designer Nevin Steinberg opted to use Alcons again on Hamilton's Broadway run.

Hamilton, with music and lyrics written by Tony-award and Grammy-award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, is unusual in that it extends the musical dynamic range of Broadway. The music ranges from sparse ballads, via R&B and hip-hop, to a fully-fledged rap battle and the whole show is completely 'sung-through' - meaning that the lyrics provide the only plot

USA - Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington has made a 32-channel Rupert Neve Designs 5088 console the centrepiece of their largest studio.

"The biggest thing was ergonomics", says Peter Randlette, Evergreen's head of electronic media. "You can't sit at the front of some consoles and reach the EQs. And I love the clarity of the [5088's] signal flow, in terms of teaching students fundamental principles of recording and production. It's really straightforward - it doesn't mean it isn't potentially complex, but it 'feels' really good...and the sound has been wonderful."

Their 5088 is outfitted with six Shelford 5052 mic preamp / EQs, eight Shelford 5051 EQ / compressors, eight Portico 5033 EQs, four Portico 5032 mic preamp / EQs, six Portico 5015 mic preamp / compressors, and Rupert Neve Designs' proprietary SwiftMix moving fader automation.
