USA - The second annual Montreux Jazz Festival Miami, an extension of the long-running Swiss music festival, brought three days of sold-out, world-class performances to The Hangar at Regatta Harbour in the Coconut Grove neighbourhood of Miami.

With technical production support from IPS and a striking lighting design built around Elation lighting gear, the event featured powerhouse sets from acts including Jon Batiste, Chaka Khan, Janelle Monáe, and La Descarga, among others.

ACT Productions returned as the local production company, with ACT director of operations Barbara Goicoechea noting: “The cooperation with IPS was excellent as always and our client was extremely happy. This year’s show was absolutely gorgeous, mostly because of the lighting that was used. We cannot thank IPS enough for doing such an incredible job.”

USA - Music can be life-changing and Beats Give Back is using that power to support underserved communities in Florida, particularly children in foster care. The nonprofit, formed in 2023, recently held its first major fundraiser at Sheltair Aviation at Tampa International Airport, raising $8,000 to support a new music education studio at the Joshua House Foundation in Tampa Bay. The event featured Funktion-One sound from Nomad Sound Systems.

“My journey has always been rooted in music and Beats Give Back is a natural extension of that because it uses music to uplift and empower the next generation,” says founder and president, Manny Lopez. “We’ve seen firsthand how even a few guitar lessons can change a child’s outlook. In many cases, it’s a lifeline.”

More than 1,000 people turned out for the fundraising event, which

UAE - INFiLED technology helped transform Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Park into an immersive AV spectacle for the inaugural Offlimits Music Festival.

Billed as the UAE’s first open-format music festival (i.e. one featuring multiple genres of music), Offlimits welcomed global artists including Ed Sheeran, OneRepublic and Kaiser Chiefs across four stages purpose-built on Yas Island for the event, held on 26th April 2025.

Technical production across all four stages – T11 (main), Head, Meteor and Club X – was managed by regional event technology company SLS Production. The team was responsible for delivering audio, video and lighting to global touring standards, ensuring a premium experience for the international artist lineup. One of the standout visual features of the festival was found on the Meteor stage, where a 910m² LED wall –

France - When Alpexpo recognised that event organisers needed something between Grenoble’s massive arena and intimate live venue, they devised a 'box in a box' concept that carves out a 3,389sq.m auditorium within their existing Greater Hall, powered by an L-Acoustics L Series professional sound system.

This transforms what was once a traditional exhibition space into a venue that adapts seamlessly between intimate seated concerts for 1,495 and energetic standing shows for 2,100.

"Our challenge was creating an adaptable system that could be everything to everyone – pristine audio whether hosting a morning keynote or an evening concert – and the transformation had to be instant," recalls Antoine Maurel, sales & installation manager at L-Acoustics certified partner M+ Equipment, part of M Group. "They wanted to build a complete auditorium ins

The launch of Portman Factory Sessions, a new YouTube series, invites artists to perform live in the very space where the company’s renowned lighting products are designed and built.

“We wanted to go beyond showcasing our fixtures in promo videos or spotting them somewhere in the world on stage,” says Michał, brand manager at Portman Lights. “We wanted to show what happens when the people who build the gear col

UAE - The International Jazz Day, Global Allstar Concert, takes place every 30 April, bringing together some of the biggest names in the jazz world. The 2025 edition was led by Herbie Hancock and hosted by Jeremy Irons.

Usually taking place in a theatre or concert hall, 2025 saw the concert moved to an arena setting for the first time, broadcast from the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Lighting and production designer, Tyler Littman, who has designed the IJD production since 2014, was directed by the producers to ‘go big’ with his design, which he did. “We also wanted to maintain a feeling of intimacy yet simultaneously making the show truly fill the enormous space,” he says.

To achieve this, Littman put together a rig that was ‘nearly all Ayrton’, supplied by PRG’s hub in Dubai. There were 170 Ayrton fixtures including Argo 6 Wash

Australia - Dating back to 1824, St. John’s Anglican church in Launceston, Tasmania is the oldest church in the city, having recently celebrated its 200th anniversary. To mark the bicentennial the church committee commissioned a major upgrade, largely to enhance speech intelligibility. Guz Box design + audio, headed by founder Tim Kuschel, were tasked with overseeing the acoustic and electroacoustic design works.

This was back in 2020, but hampered by Covid restrictions and a lack of data, it wasn’t until March 2021, in the post-Covid era, that the Canberra-based consultant fully realised the overwhelming number of architectural constraints he would be facing in this heritage-listed building – not least the demanding acoustics, with multiple reflections created by a 22m-high dome.

The reason intelligibility was such a concern was because a larg

USA - Pitbull recently wowed audiences at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas resort hotel, the first phase of a residency.

The task of adapting his recent Party After Dark tour for a show renamed Vegas After Dark fell to his long-term creatives, production manager Victor Martinez and creative director Yamil Charif (of YC3 Design).

Charif explains that having toured with nine trucks of gear, they needed to scale back – integrating with the existing house rig at the hotel’s 3,800-seat BleauLive Theatre and at the same time introducing some new lighting solutions from GLP: “We already had GLP equipment out on the tour – a bunch of JDC1 [hybrid strobes] – and we kept most of these because they are a key element of the show.”

In fact, Charif is such an advocate of JDC1 that he earlier invested for his own production company,

USA - Back in the year 2000, RMB Audio - one of Martin Audio’s longest serving global partners - installed a Wavefront W0.5 miniature high performance speaker solution in Heritage Baptist Church in Zebulon, NC.

The splayed array was designed to provide coverage of a church seating 600 with a balcony, below a vaulted pentagonal roof. Audience seating on the floor in the sanctuary formed a 200° fan from the pulpit, which required some angle separation between the cabinet hangs to provide an overlap from the 100° horizontal pattern.

Due to Martin Audio’s advanced engineering and build quality, this gave the church an excellent return on investment. But when it came to refreshing the speakers, a cell defect was detected. Realising that components for this vintage system were no longer available, an alternative was required.
