USA - A former student at Dr. Phillips High School Theatre Magnet in Orlando, Florida, has been making creative use of GLP's X4 series to light school productions.

Michael Pagan's interest in lighting design dates back to his school days, starting off in the theatre world. "I became more and more interested in the art of lighting during middle school and when I first did my internship at PRG Orlando I saw GLP's X4's being tested for the first time and witnessed how much they could do," he remembers.

He undertook his first design using the fixtures for Orlando Business Journal. "The client wanted movement but we needed to keep the power consumption low, so the impression X4 was the answer."

He says there was much that impressed him about the fixture. "They are light weight but have the brightness equivalent to an arc lamp. The vibrant colours, where I can go from a past

USA - Country music superstar Chris Young had an incredibly busy 2016, including #1 hits I'm Comin' Over and Think of You, a Christmas album and a massive headlining tour with an all new production look. His I'm Comin Over Tour, which is continuing in the New Year, features a lighting packaged provided by Bandit Lites.

With the show heavily featuring video, lighting designer Chris Lisle created a scalable lighting design featuring video while still allowing for punches of lighting around the content.

"Chris is one of those artists who allows his team to be creative and do their jobs - which we love!" said Lisle of the design process. "We had a couple of meetings with both him and management, and made some slight tweaks to the design, but overall were allowed creative freedom."

One fixture Chris Young liked specifically was Ayrton MagicPanels, so Lisle and

USA - Psych pop jam band Madaila have been making waves since the release of their debut song The Dance in 2015. With their catchy synth heavy choruses, spontaneous melodic excursions and joyfully long riffs, the group is reminiscent of another jam band that came out of The Green Mountain State: Phish. Going beyond their free-flowing sound, however, Madaila captivates crowds with their shamefully unscripted dance moves, wildly colourful attire and overall antics.

Lighting designer Kyle Rose accented this up-and-coming band's jubilant stage presence at a recent appearance at Burlington's iconic Higher Ground Music Hall by adding eight Rogue R1 Spot fixtures to the house rig.

"We already had a Rogue-heavy rig with over 25 various Rogue fixtures flying over or positioned on the stage," said Rose, who serves as the house LD for the 600-capacity venue. "I used the added

USA - Ben Coker, lighting designer for Porter Robinson and Madeon's co-headlining Shelter theatre tour, has just finished an extensive 34-date run in the US, with Robe BMFL Spots and WashBeams and Pointes prominent on the rig.

The decision to play primarily theatres and sit down venues has been hugely successful and allowed them to present their music in a different context and environment. The show took on the style and feel of a concert with individual songs / breaks in between, live vocals much of the time and a selection of live instruments introduced and played throughout the set from electric pianos to percussion.

It was something 'out-of-the-box' for the electronic music scene and different with a new and interesting energy from these two leading electronic artists. Ben started the design process well in advance, producing multiple concepts which were presented to t

The tour marked the first time lighting designer Andrew Liddle opted for the Arena - Avolites' latest console.

"I was really keen to give the Arena a try and it proved very worthwhile," says Liddle. For what it is, it's really compact, not too bulky or weighty, and the layout's great and the second screen is useful too."

Alongside the main display, the Arena offers a second touch screen providing an additional workspace window and also labelling the adjacent macro buttons and rotary pots. These fu
