USA - Brown Note Productions in Thornton, Colorado deployed 92 new Claypaky Ultimo Sharpy fixtures at DJ Sammy Virji’s high-energy show in Denver’s Civic Centre Park on 13 September. Set against the neo-classical backdrop of the City and County Building, Virji entertained a crowd that braved inclement weather for a night of electronic dance music.

Virji has ‘exploded’ on the EDM scene since he last played Denver one year ago at the Greek Theatre. He has played Coachella and Tomorrowland, charted hit solo tunes and made notable collaborations in the lead up to one of the biggest shows of his career at Civic Center Park.

Brown Note teamed with Chris Schroeder Productions and lighting designer Erik Mahowald of Bending Light Productions to use 92 Ultimo Sharpys to create a dynamic backdrop of light, which framed both the artist

USA - Elation dealer Morgan Sound of Lynnwood, Washington recently completed a full-scale lighting, audio, and video upgrade for the Evangelical Chinese Church of Seattle, integrating an Elation lighting rig and Obsidian NX4 lighting control system. The project, completed in October, marks a major step forward for the 200-seat church as it transitions from a traditional worship style to a more contemporary, dynamic environment designed to engage a younger generation.

Led by Fraser Brearley, sales and systems associate at Morgan Sound, with Art Howard as project manager and Jamey Atkins and Steve Gregory as lead installers, the Morgan Sound team designed and implemented a fully-integrated AV system. The upgrade included a new PA line array, video wall, and lighting positions for front, stage and side areas.

USA - Zach Scott has developed a captivating design for punk rock icons The Academy Is… on the 12-city fall leg of their Almost Here tour.

The band kicked off their tour at the 20th annual Chicago Riot Fest on 21 September. Running his show on a ChamSys MagicQ MQ500M Stadium Console, Scott mixes richly saturated colours, a stark blend of intense brightness and dark space and some artfully placed silhouettes to captivate attention while supporting his client’s performance.

“The role of silhouettes, brightness and intensity in this show stems from my deep-rooted programming style of theatrics with impact,” said Scott. “It is heavily influenced by one of my mentors, Gigi Padron. I prefer to use dark space as my dynamic rather than video, and the band was on that exact same thought process.

“This is something that th

Europe - ETC is expanding its Response Mk2 DMX Gateway family with two new eight-port options: a full-width Gateway with (eight) XLR connections, and a half-width Gateway with (eight) terminal connections.

Kirk Starks, ETC marketing product manager, says: “No matter if there are a bunch of homeruns from LED coves running back to an equipment rack, or a complex concert rig, I’m excited about the possibilities that come with trusted DMX control from these new eight-port gateways.” These higher-density gateways deliver the same system functionality at a lower price, while utilising less rack space. With multiple mounting options and repositionable network ports, the Response Mk2 8-port DMX Gateway ‘fits comfortably wherever it is needed’.

The Terminal version is the same size as ETC’s current four-port Gateway, packing twice the number of th

France - On 15 April 2019, a world-famous religious building was engulfed in flames, destroying its spire and roof and causing significant damage to the cathedral's altar, pipe organs, 13th-century rose windows and many religious relics. Five years later, on 7 December 2024, after what is described as one of the most ambitious and extensive house of worship reconstruction projects in modern history, the Notre-Dame de Paris officially reopened.

Appointed as the lead integrator for this momentous job, Novelty Paris handled the vast majority of the integration work, seeking critical support from its sister company De Préférence for fine-tuning and acoustic optimisation, and the wider Groupe Novelty companies to undertake the challenge of equipping the religious monument with a sophisticated and fully integrated audiovisual infrastructure.

Romania - The launch season of new Romanian TV talent show The Ticket premiered in September and is being recorded at Castel Studios just outside Bucharest. It is produced by Imagic and Antena 1 and lit by lighting designer/DoP Dan Andrei and lighting director Marius Matyas, using a large Robe moving light rig, which is owned by the Antena TV Group.

The show highlights the talent of the performers and the quality and professionalism of their stagecraft, which gets rated for creativity, entertainment value and audience engagement, judged by both a panel of celebs and the public, who vote – via an app – on the ticket price they would theoretically pay to see this act live. Each of the 14 rounds finishes with a winner who goes through to the finale in December.

Croatia - Kazalište 21 (Theatre 21) in Sisak, one of the city’s most cherished cultural landmarks, has reopened its doors with a modern Elation lighting system by Audio Video Consulting (AVC), marking a major milestone in the theatre’s post-earthquake recovery. The newly renovated theatre is a modern performance venue, capable of hosting theatre, music, and puppet productions at the highest professional level. Operated by Dom kulture Kristalna kocka vedrine – City Theatre Sisak, its contemporary aesthetics are matched by an advanced technical infrastructure, offering a flexible and inspiring environment for artists and audiences alike. USA - Nine Inch Nails’ aptly named Peel It Back tour ended its 38-city global summer run on 19 September at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. The tour will begin a second North American leg on 5 February in New Orleans.

The result of an intense collaborative effort involving lighting designer Paul (Arlo) Guthrie, Todd Tourso and Mel Roy of MTLA, as well as Cory Fitzgerald of Silent House, the stage production ‘immerses fans in a transcendent visual journey’.

This journey begins on the 360° B stage located in the middle of the arena floor, where frontman Trent Reznor performs A Minute To Breathe lit by Chauvet Professional OnAir Panel soft white lights, and later moves on to a full-fledged visual blitzkrieg on the main stage.

Guthrie, NIN’s long-time designer, described how it all came together. “We had an anti-technol

USA - Diamond Rio has touched a lot of musical bases in their storied career during their 15-city fall tour. Reflecting the scope of the six-piece group’s music with dynamic looks that engage audiences is a boldly coloured lighting design by Willis Underhill that features a broad selection of Chauvet Professional fixtures.

Running his show on a ChamSys MagicQ MQ500M+, Underhill of Graffiti Lighting Concepts calls forth a continuously changing stream of colours to reflect the mood of each song. “I like to rely on bold colour combinations to help evoke emotion and help create moments between the band and the crowd,” he explained. “I use a lot of reds, whites, yellows, and deep orange for high-energy moments on this tour. For more intimate moments, I lean towards pastels and similar colours

The Netherlands - On 9 August 2025, the summer edition of Lakedance took place in Best - a festival that has become a staple in the Dutch event calendar. With around 20,000 to 25,000 visitors, the lakeside venue was filled with sunshine, music, and a ‘meticulously crafted production’ with products from Showtec and Infinity.

Organiser First Vision created the atmosphere, thanks in no small part to the creative and technical partners who left their mark behind the scenes. The creative concept was led by Lastblast B.V. from Eindhoven. They were responsible not only for the festival’s visual identity, but also composed the music for the closing show and produced the intros that set the tone for the event.

Stage design was handled by Roxxi, while lighting design came from Koen van Elderen of Maoss. Technical execution and equipment were pro

USA - Nebraska-based Omaha Performing Arts (O-pa) continues to invest in Ayrton lighting fixtures for its venues with the new Tenaska Centre for Arts Engagement due to install Argo 6 FX fixtures and Diablo profiles before its grand opening in March 2026.

All of the facilities are part of the Dick & Mary Holland Campus, which is centrally located in downtown Omaha. The campus offers a wide spectrum of performing arts experiences and shows and hosts a broad range of education and engagement programmes for the community.

UK - Ricky Gervais’ Mortality Tour which kicked off last year and runs through the end of 2025. “We’re all going to die, may as well have a laugh about it,” Gervais said when announcing the global tour. Providing a supportive backdrop for the comic’s performance is a production designed by Rod Clay of Absorb Media, working closely with production manager, Adam Scott.

Clay is running the theatre leg of the Mortality Tour with a ChamSys MagicQ MQ70 Compact Console, along with a Compact Connect control service as his wing. “There is limited FOH space at the theatres, so the ChamSys Compact series was the obvious choice,” he explained. “The shows are always sold-out, so space is at a premium.

“Aside from saving us space and giving us a lot of power relative to its footprint, the ChamSys is easy to load in and out,” c

Sweden - Dalhalla, an open-air amphitheatre set in the former Draggängarna limestone quarry in central Sweden, is popular for its summer seasons featuring a range of music and artists – rock and pop, musicals and sometimes opera.

The venue invested in 20 new Robe iForte moving lights, delivered for its 2025 season which has just concluded. These are a well-received technical upgrade and have been used over the summer, explained the venue’s head of technical, Anders ‘Hebbe’ Herbertzon.

The new iFortes have replaced 18 x Robe MMX Spots that had been in service since 2012. Still going strong, these are now redeployed in another venue operated by Dalhalla’s management company, Rättvik Event in nearby Falun, which runs for the winter season.

Dalhalla still has 12 of Robe’s first generation of LED theatre luminaires – DLS Profiles
