USA / UK - London-based motion graphics studio The Darkroom, joined forces with global advertising agency BBDO to promote HBO's new TV series, Game of Thrones.

The Darkroom has created a world-first projection (watch it here), which was shown on an 80ft billboard from April 8 - 17 in the Hollywood and Highland Center in Los Angeles, for the US promotion of the show.

The projection was designed and produced by The Darkroom's creative director Bruce Ferguson, who designed the projection to be exclusive, while staying true to the design elements of the show, such as the gate, shields, and the sword, along with the series strap-line, 'winter is coming'.

UK - Mongrels is a British puppet-based sit com series first broadcast for BBC Three. It has recently been commissioned for a second series.

Europe - Martin EMEA is hosting local events across Europe on an Engineered for the Eye road show tour that brings Martin directly to customers for an up close look at dynamic lighting and visual solutions.

The Martin Road Show van will soon be in Italy, hosting local events in Milan (10, 13 May) and Rome (19 May), before heading to France for a number of dates. Those events will be followed by a visit to the Lounge exhibition in Antwerp (31 May 31-1 June) and then additional stops in France, including the Stadia & Arena trade show in Marseille (15-17 June), before heading to the UK. In late summer and fall, the Martin Road Show will be visiting Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Scandinavia.

Thailand - The Bangkok office of Acoustic & Lighting System has provided 144 PR XLED 590 moving head washlights to Light Source for use on the 30th anniversary tour by local rock legends Carabao. These meet the lighting design by Tanat Pitiporntapin.

The band's lengthy One Province One Concert (OPOC) tour, which started on 1 April and runs until 15 December, will take in all 76 provinces throughout Thailand.

Acoustic & Lighting System, who have been working with PR Lighting products since July 2005, took the opportunity to expose the new LED heads, which have been programmed into the scenography alongside conventional spots and washes by Chaiwut Panomchon and operated from a Road Hog Full Boar console.

Germany - On 12 and 13 March the Dresden philharmonic orchestra performed the sixth cycle concert in the sold out Kulturpalast.

On debut was Igor Strawinskys Suite No. 2 for small orchestra with a series of four dances (march - waltz - polka - gallop) followed by Lucernaris - a concert for trumpete, live electronic and orchestra of the young Swedish composer Tobias Broström. The Great symphony in C major by Franz Schubert concluded proceedings.

The reproduction of the live electronics was realized by a 5.1 reinforcement. Hartmut Lissner, technical director of Konzert- & Kongressgesellschaft opted for Versio active systems VL 750 plus VSS 18 subs, positioned on the gallery achieving a balanced sound dispersion within the entire hall.

USA - Intelix has recently partnered with Shawn McLoughlin, who joins the company as a senior account manager. In this capacity, McLoughlin will manage and develop Intelix's growing customer base.

UK - Thirty-two Audio-Technica microphones (a combination of ES935ML6 MicroLine condenser gooseneck microphones and U851R cardioid condenser boundary microphones) were installed in Westminster Abbey for capturing the audio of the royal wedding.

The microphones were located in key areas of the Abbey; a computer touchscreen showed the operator their exact positions within the building. The ES935ML6 microphones were switched on and off locally by the user or controlled remotely by a verger using any of the touchscreens. Additionally, several U851R microphones were used on the altars.

France - The French National Railway Company (SNCF) has instituted an important change aimed at improving its position in the face of stiff competition from other European transport companies. The first element that SNCF has put significant effort into is renovation of its many key railway stations.

At the Austerlitz Railway Station in Paris, the process has just begun and will last until 2025. An important part of the new look is illumination of the lattice structure of the main hall in order to visually bring it in step with the 21st century.

USA - This year's Coachella Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California may now be over, but the success of Le Mobile Remote Recording Studios and its Fly Pak System that includes a Yamaha DM2000 console lingers on. Le Fly Pak was used for mixing the live webcast at the Mojave Stage.

"With shows and projects getting bigger and bigger, Coachella being one of them, we thought it would be important to make our Fly Pak system as flexible as possible," states Ian-C. China The evening concert on 8 March 2011 at the National People's Congress in the Beijing Trade Hotel was performed by MYC with the Sequenza 10 line array from Kling & Freitag. The 330m high building with its 81 floors is at present the highest of Beijing.

In order to comply with these noise constraints, MYC used the Sequenza 10 Line Array from Kling & Freitag. The 40 m wide show stage was equipped with four K&F Sequenza 10N for the far field and two SEquenza 10W for the nearfield.
