Germany - Effective from 1 August 2011, Peter Claussen will take over responsibility of the Installed Sound Business Division at audio specialist Sennheiser. Claussen joins Sennheiser from the IT company Höft & Wessel AG. His last post at the company was as deputy chairman of the management board. The Installed Sound Business Division has until now been provisionally led by Dr. Heinrich Esser. As divisional president, Claussen will become a member of Sennheiser's Executive Management Board.

Bahrain Nicolas Kyvernitis Electronics Enterprises, distribution centre for Shure in the Gulf has recently supplied Bahrain-based rental firm Maestro Sound with the PSM900 in ear monitoring system. The deal includes six sets of the P9T transmitter and P9R receiver.

"The new PSM900 is the first phase of the new direction Shure is taking in their development of the in ear monitoring product line," commented Richie Hiranandani, marketing manager. He added, "with a brand new design and improved technology, Maestro Sound have invested in the future."

UAE - The KR-400 system, which received many plaudits during this year's Prolight+Sound exhibition, has now landed in the Middle East with a substantial system being purchased by Dubai's Eclipse Staging Services. The system comprises a total of eight KL21MA subs and 16 KK-400 tops that can be used as a single large array or four compact systems.

USA - The campus of Ashford University has a new Athletic Complex complete with a sound system designed to cover the entire playing field, as well as future stadium developments. The system is based around Community Professional's R-Series weather-resistant loudspeakers.

Mark Van Hoosier of Davenport, IA-based Electronic Communications Systems (ECS) comments, "We chose Community's R-Series for their exceptional intelligibility and well defined sound projection capabilities. Of course, being an outdoor venue, weather resistance was another critical factor."

The system includes two Community R2-694Z loudspeakers for short-throw coverage, and two R6-51 loudspeakers for long-range. Germany / Ukraine - Lightconverse recently presented its Lightconverse 3D system at the international Prolight+Sound fair in Frankfurt.

Visitors to the company's stand enjoyed a show facilitated by six projectors shooting perfectly mapped video onto a four-sided surface. Total screen space was 9sq.m with the distance between the projectors and screen surface a short 1.5m. The blended projection was made possible due to the software's new 3D mapping engine automatic adjustment method.

The 3D mapping engine is used to solve common video projection problems such as shooting video or images onto objects of any geometric complexity.

Also shown at the show was the Lightconverse Server-Studio, a new hardware solution that can visualize up to 1536 fixtures (96 Universes) in real-time in conjunction with the 3D Show Platform software.

UK - The ABTT (Association of British Theatre Technicians) Theatre Show has always been a showcase for the latest technology in the theatre and presentation markets and this year's event will be no exception, say the organisers. A highlight among the many new products and emerging technologies that will be on display at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London from 15-16 June is LED lighting.

LEDs have been making inroads into the production sector over the past five years. Architectural and scenic systems have been used for both the theatre and corporate events to create atmospheres and backgrounds and now LED-versions of more traditional-style luminaires, such profiles, are coming on to the market. LED solutions are also emerging for aisles and emergency exits.

UK - Continuing its ongoing supply of case solutions to audio console manufacturer DiGiCo, 5 Star Cases has produced the latest case for DiCiCo's SD range of digital consoles.The SD11 is the newest sound mixing product from DiGiCo, following on from the success of the SD7, SD8, SD9 and SD10 consoles.

The SD11 is DiGiCo's smallest sized sound desk to date. It is two consoles in one - a rack-mountable and a table top mixer with smart end cheeks and an arm rest - and an easy one-person lift from truck to table top, ready for action.

UK - A.C. Entertainment Technologies audio division has won the 2010 / 2011 Best UK Dealer Award from loudspeaker manufacturer Nexo, in recognition of their outstanding sales performance and support over the last 12 months.

The Award for A.C. Audio was presented at Nexo's annual distributor dinner/awards evening, staged this year at the Marriot Hotel during the recent Prolight+Sound exhibition in Frankfurt. Attended by around 150 people, the Awards honoured the best achieving dealers and distributors in key categories and sectors.

It is the first year that there has been an Award recognising UK sales. The new category was created after a restructuring of the entire Nexo distribution setup in the UK 18 months ago, and follows the conclusion of the first full financial year of trading in this new operational model.

UK - XL Events installed two large LED screens in London's Trafalgar Square to facilitate one of the main public viewing areas for live TV transmission of the UK's royal wedding between Prince William and Catherine Middleton.

XL was working for marketing and event producers Jack Morton Worldwide, who co-ordinated four similar format/concept sites across London for the wedding. An estimated 1m people lined the streets to catch some of the action, which was broadcast worldwide to a global audience of approximately 2bn. It was the most important UK Royal event for 30 years.

The screens were both made up from Lighthouse R7 panels and were positioned around Nelson's Column. One measured 80sq.m and faced the National Gallery, and the other was 40sq.m, facing eastward pointing down the Strand. Both were rigged on special screen support 'goal post' structures.

A stage was also built

UK - The Arena Group managed the UK media compound and supplied a series of temporary media structures around Buckingham Palace and The Mall for the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.

The Department of Media and Culture planned and implemented a wide ranging transformation of the capital city to host the Royal Wedding, engaging the Arena Group months ahead to manage the temporary media structures for host broadcasters, the BBC and ITV.

Arena Group senior project manager David Moynes worked with 'built asset consultancy' E.C Harris to plan the design and position of multiple temporary media facilities for the BBC and ITV, before installing them ready for the big day.

Working with these multiple stakeholders and security agencies at some of London's most sensitive locations, the Arena Group successfully managed the UK media compound in Green Park behind C

China - Hangzhou Chuangda Stage Facilities, the D.A.S. Audio dealer in Eastern China, has coordinated the installation of new sound systems at two popular Chinese clubs in late 2010. With both projects, Jiang Chao, the company's general manager, and Xiao Zhao, their technical representative, determined that D.A.S. active (self-powered) systems were an appropriate choice.

At owner Ping Ge's IN-Bar in Taizhou, Zhejian, 24 D.A.S. Audio Avant 15A powered, two-way, compact full-range loudspeakers were deployed. A combination of six LX-218A powered, high performance subwoofers - three enclosures ground stacked in a centre mono sub configuration and another three units placed as delay subs - deliver low frequency support. An additional five Avant 118A powered horn-bass subwoofers complete the setup. A D.A.S. Audio DSP-2060 processor handles time alignment and limiter duties.

France - Since APG first announced their Uniline Solution concept at the JTSE in Paris in November last year, the company reports that the network has gone from strength to strength with new members coming aboard all the time.

UK - Entec Sound & Light was approached by Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) to supply a lighting design and equipment for a very special one-off collection of royal wedding dresses dating back to 1816, including that of Queen Victoria, Princess Margaret and Princess Charlotte, which was put on display in the drawing rooms of the late Princess Margaret's apartments in Kensington Palace.

Too fragile for public exhibition, the display of dresses was open to the world's leading media in order to allow a wider audience to experience them. Ahead of the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey, the dresses received global coverage, filmed by BBC, ITN, Channel 4, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN as well as Australian, Canadian, French, German and Japanese broadcasters.
