UK - In March, Black Light turned two of Edinburgh's most famous landmarks yellow to help one of Britain's leading charities launch its most important annual fund-raising campaign.

To publicise the launch of Marie Curie Cancer Care's 2011 Great Daffodil Appeal, Black Light's events team lit the columns of the National Monument on Calton Hill and Queen Victoria's statue on the Royal Scottish Academy at the foot of the Mound. The assignment used Robe CitySkape 48's and highlighted Black Light's expertise at this kind of work, gained on projects such as Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations.

The Marie Curie illuminations generated a lot of publicity for its appeal, including a photograph in The Scotsman newspaper captioned 'Golden fun: Monument lit up for charity launch'.

UK - DiGiCo has appointed Ian Staddon as vice-president of sales. Staddon's lengthy tenure with the Harman Group included working for Soundcraft, and more recently as VP sales for Studer.

"In our industry, it's good to watch what others are doing," he says. "DiGiCo has always been an interesting company and, with the arrival of the SD Range and Stealth Digital Processing you really couldn't help but notice them.

"Since the introduction of the SD7, in late 2007, they have consistently launched products that meet the market's requirements. Germany - MADRIX V2.12 is the latest update for the LED lighting control software. Again, this is a free update for every user of MADRIX. The new MADRIX version 2.12 will be officially presented at Prolight+Sound 2011 this week.

With the new DVI Patch feature users can simply add rotation, flipping, and spacing to any DVI-based LED installation independently of the hardware controller. This is a substantial improvement over the current situation, says the company. Whereas DMX512 can be configured quite freely, DVI hardware controllers by themselves allowed only very static ways to position the DVI fixtures. In short, projects using the DVI signal can now be handled with the same ease that DMX fixtures offer.

MADRIX offers various possibilities of remote control. Two of which just have been widely improved for the user - DMX-IN and Art-Net Remote. Both are especially interestin

NlightN flat panel speakers use six small, mathematically positioned exciters to generate bending waves across the entire surface of a stiff panel membrane. The exciters used in the NlightN speakers are based on conventional moving voice coils. The movement of the panel creates a diffuse soundfield that provides an unparalleled, immersive audio experience: the dispersion from an NlightN speaker is almost omnidirectional across
