Elation Professional will show the new Platinum Spot 5R Pro, an upgraded version of its Platinum Spot 5R DMX moving head, in response to what Dirk Kast, general manager for Elation Europe, describes as the "overwhelming success" of the original.

Like the original, the new Platinum Spot 5R Pro features Philips MSD Platinum 5R Lamp Technology, an innovation that allows the creation of fixtures that are brighter and more powerful with superior light quality, yet are also faster, smaller, lighter weight, draw less energy and have longer-lasting lamps, says the company. But as its name suggests, the Platinum Spot 5R Pro also goes a step beyond to offer an expanded array of professional features and effects.

Among the new features on the Platinum Spot 5R Pro are a 16-bit CMY colour-mixing system, which allows users to concoct a palette of custom colours, and a Variable Zoom (4 to

Germany - Previewed at last year's PLASA Show, the impression spot one fixture is now being released onto the market. The impression spot one fixture "represents a breakthrough in LED technology for today's entertainment lighting market". Whilst soft edge washlight fixtures such as the original impression from GLP have been around for several years, the challenge was to create a high output performance spot fixture to match. Enter the impression spot one from GLP ... the first fixture of its kind to be released to the global market, declares the company.

The impression spot one features an RGB LED engine with eight or 16-bit control over each colour, allowing for delicate colour changes or instantaneous colour bumps. The spectrum it achieves has been calibrated to be as wide as possible - from soft pastel colours to deep saturated shades, and everything in between.

USA - Meyer Sound have said they are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of audio industry pioneer and "dear friend", Owsley 'Bear' Stanley.

"Bear was a great friend and a true inspiration," says John Meyer, CEO and co-founder of Meyer Sound. "We first met Bear in the 1970s, and we worked very closely for many years. His determination to find new technical solutions to improve audio delivery led to our numerous experiments together in the early days of Meyer Sound. He was an uncompromising advocate of audio system clarity, which to this day is still the driving force behind our engineering philosophy."

Helen Meyer, co-founder and executive vice president of Meyer Sound, continues: "Bear was a unique soul unlike anyone else we have known. His energy, talent, and passion have inspired all of us, and we will miss him dearly. In love and gratitude

USA - Yamaha Stagemix software for the M7CL iPad app was recently installed into Chicago concert venue Viper Alley. Located in Lincolnshire, Illinois, the venue is the brainchild of Scott Greenberg, creator of the Wit, Chicago's hippest boutique hotel. Viper Alley opened in early March with American Idol winner Lee DeWyze performing for 200 online raffle ticket winners. The club also features a complete Nexo sound system. The installation was completed by Gand Sound Installations (Glenview, Illinois).

StageMix is an application for the Apple iPad (R) that allows remote control of the Yamaha M7CL digital console's mix functions via a simple, intuitive graphic interface from anywhere within wireless range. The application enables an engineer to set up monitor mixes from a performer's position on stage directly controlling mix parameters via the iPad.

Belarus - PR Lighting fixtures were used extensively at the inaugural Crossfield Festival which was held in a football arena in Minsk.

Around 8,000 fans turned up to the event promoted by All Stars Agency, and starring DJ, ATB and German production duo Cosmic Gate (DJ Bossi and Nic Chagall).

Local technology company, FE Belimlight were contracted to provide the staging and lighting, having worked with the promoters on other concerts in Belarus, including The Scorpions and Vanessa Mae.

According to lighting designer, Ilya Piatrouski of Blackout Studio, who is experienced in designing sets for dance festivals such as Global Gathering, the price advantage of the PR Lighting fixtures enabled him to use more within the budget - and thus deliver greater impact.

"I was looking for a powerful and bright moving head to create an abundance of colour - and by using

France - LumenRadio's CRMX RDM wireless lighting control system played a key role in the lighting refurbishment of UNESCO world heritage site Pont du Gard. The installation represents one of the most comprehensive wireless systems ever to take full advantage of RDM (Remote Device Management) for fixture configuration and monitoring in an outdoor architectural setting.

Pont du Gard is a classic tri-level aqueduct built 2,000 years ago over the Gard river in Southern France. This display of Roman engineering and masonry is visited by more than a million tourists every year and is a focal point for cultural activities and festivals. The site is also frequently used for Son et Lumiéres; that made it critical to find a wireless system than not only could handle the daily operations effectively, but that also would seamlessly integrate with the controls for such events.
