RWCMD (Royal Welsh College of Music and drama) had taken a stand, and gone even further by sponsoring the purple lanyards that adorned the necks of show visitors. Stage managment lecturer Antonia Collins said: "This downstairs area has really grown. It's great because it means we can be part of the show and let people know about the different courses we have on offer. It is definately worth us exhibiting and we hope to get more of the students involved next year in the stand, but they are always so busy!"
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's - 40 thousand LED pixels on a ceiling!!! The Lightengine was specified by video and projection specialist Dick Straker of Mesmer (pictured), working with photographer Marcus Tate. Producer Joe Talbot wanted a theatrical mood to the show, and he, Tate and Straker, opted for a large, abstract image, constantly changing on camera. Lightengine seemed an ideal solution, as Straker needed some visual tools to make the set adaptable and changeable - the antithesis of more conventional plasma screen studio looks.

UK - It was all guns blazing down at the Opera House, as manufacturers pitched their wares against each other in the tungsten wash shoot-out that the theatre world had long been waiting for. As the lights were fired up, the atmosphere on the battlefield was surprisingly relaxed as competitors called a truce for the test, paving the way for an open and frank discussion.
Hosted by lighting supplier White Light, and organised in conjunction with the Royal Opera House, a steady stream of invited lighting designers, production electricians and venue technicians passed through the ROH's Linbury Theatre to cast a critical eye, and ear to the proceedings.
