Japan - Rental company Super 4 has invested in a Martin Audio WPC PA to handle its many events and concerts. The company recently placed the order for 18 x WPC elements and six SX218 subwoofers with Martin Audio Japan.
Super 4 is based in Takamatsu, Kagawa. Its vice-president Higasa comments: “It has been 18 years since we established the company, and during that time we have expanded from our first purchase of a microphone, up to the level where we can handle major events by ourselves.

Australia - The KV2 Asia Pacific team recently gathered in Melbourne to demonstrate the new VHD5.0 Constant Power Point Source Array and the VHD2.0 Large Format Point Source System at the city’s best-known outdoor venue, the Sydney Myer Music Bowl.
Loading in at 7.00am, both systems were flown and ready for operation by 10.00am. Angus Davidson, technical director for Asia Pacific and North America was in charge of the set up. “It never ceases to amaze not just how quickly these systems go up but how little tweaking is required once they are in the air,” remarked Davidson. “Basically, once you get the height right it is simply a matter of adjusting the tilt angle, which on VHD5.0 can be done via remote control as the fly bar incorporates integrated tilt adjustment.”

USA - For the current Newsboys United tour, lighting designer Matthew Brewer is doing the band’s evocative sound justice with an intense multi-layered lightshow that serves up a continuously changing array of looks to capture the essence of every tune. Aiding him in this endeavour is a collection of Chauvet Professional Rogue fixtures, supplied by Axxis.
Key to Brewer’s flow of distinctive visuals are the myriad geometric patterns he creates with the 24 Rogue R1 FX-B fixtures in his rig. USA - For nearly 50 years, the GMA Dove Awards have honoured those who have achieved excellence in Christian music. Held at the Allen Arena at Lipscomb University on 16 October, the night featured a lighting package provided by Bandit Lites and performances from Lauren Daigle, Tauren Wells, Rebecca St. James, Rascal Flatts and Tori Kelly.

Russia - GLP’s impression X4 atom has only been available on the Russian rental market for less than a year, but the fixture has become an original element in some signature project designs.
It was Leonid Poznyansky - a lighting designer who frequently uses compact GLP solutions in his lighting plots - who was responsible for their arrival in Moscow. He first saw the X4 atom at Prolight+Sound in Frankfurt in 2017, and immediately urged rental company Laser-Kinetics to invest in it. ANSI E1.34 - 2009, Entertainment Technology - Measuring and Specifying the Slipperiness of Floors Used in Live Performance Venues is being considered for reaffirmation again (i.e., no changes in requirements, only updating organization name, address, copyright date, etc.) The document describes a simple means of measuring and specifying the slipperiness of floor surfaces used by performers in live entertainment venues. The standard is not for normal walking and working surfaces, but only for those floor surfaces used by actors, dancers, and other similar artists when performing before an audience. Comments are due before the end of the day on 17 December; the review is over when 18 December starts.

[Europe] European entertainment industry bodies have proposed ‘small but essential’ amendments to the Ecodesign regulations ahead of key talks in December.
The European Entertainment Ecodesign Coalition (EEEC) - comprising PLASA, PEARLE, the ALD, DTHG, the IALD, OETHG, SLF, STEPP and VPLT - and other national and international organisations have released a joint statement to highlight 'some serious concerns' about technical requirements that the bodies insist cannot be met by the industry.
Meanwhile, the regulatory committee is meeting with the European Commission on 17-20 December to decide on the draft.

UK - Colour Sound Experiment supplied lighting and LED screens for the Wave Goodbye concert by UK synth pop duo Soft Cell, who reunited after 17 years for one final show at London’s O2 Arena.
Award-winning lighting designer Rob Sinclair helped build the ambience and vibes for this sold-out pop music moment for the band who’ve occupied some hypnotically catchy and viscerally emotional space in the slightly darker echelons of 1980s synth pop.
Once he was confirmed on the creative team along with set designer Ric Lipson from Stufish, Rob started imagining the lighting.
It was also being streamed live to cinemas around the UK and Ireland and recorded for a live CD and DVD/Blu-ray release in 2019.

The referral originally came through John Schirmer at DCR Nashville, lighting vendor for the US sections of the tour which started in 2017. Another connection was production designers Sooner Routhier and Robert Long from SRae Productions, with whom HSL worked for over a year as worldwide lighting supplier for Depeche Mode’s 2017-18 Global Spirit world tour.
The Halsey project was managed for HSL by Jordan Hanson who commented, ““Working with John Schirmer, production manager Jimi Storey and lighting director/operator on the road Jose Antunes has been a pleasure - great show and great people.” He worked closely with Jose to match their original lighting spec.

Croatia - HUST d.o.o. has completed the design and installation of the audio and video systems for the new Šibenik Convention Centre at the Solaris Beach Resort. Located in Šibenik, on the Adriatic coast, the new venue is the first convention centre to be built since the independence of the Croatian state in 1991 and is now the largest in Croatia.
The centre is designed for flexibility, by dividing or combining rooms to adapt the space for all types of events, conventions and exhibitions. With a total of 4,000sq.m of congress space, the centre encompasses 11 individual halls and rooms with an overall capacity for 2,500 people.

The veteran rock band, who are currently touring the US, will play Wembley on 16 June after gigs in Berlin and Dublin. Fleetwood Mac have a new line-up after guitarist Lindsey Buckingham was fired back in April due to "scheduling conflicts". Guitarist Mike Campbell and Crowded House frontman Neil Finn have joined existing members Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie and John McVie.
The group have said they are "thrilled" to welcome the new two musicians, adding: "With Mike and Neil, we'll be performing all the hits that the fans love, plus we'll be surprising our audiences with some tracks from our historic catalogue of songs.
