Finland - A destination for beer aficionados, the OLVI Foundation Brewery Museum offers an opportunity to delve into the history and traditions of Finnish beer brewing. Located in Iisalmi – which also happens to be the home of loudspeaker manufacturer Genelec – this is Finland’s only brewery museum open to the public.

At its heart is a new immersive installation titled The Spirit of OLVI. Built into a custom-designed five-sided space, it invites visitors into a multi-sensory experience that uses light, image, vibration, and spatial sound to explore the 145-year history of Finland’s last major independent brewery. The system behind it is entirely bespoke – and is powered by a sophisticated Genelec loudspeaker setup.

France - changeNOW, the European sustainability summit, presents an audio engineer's ultimate challenge: 20 simultaneous performance zones operating across Paris's reverberant Grand Palais. The three-day event hosts 40,000 attendees from 140 countries in a format that combines international conferences with live artistic performances.

Six main stages plus 14 additional performance areas must function simultaneously throughout the event, creating massive sound spill challenges in the glass-domed venue. Previous editions relied on headphone systems to solve the interference problem, but this isolated audience members in individual audio bubbles.

UK - As the first higher education facility in the UK to bring an esports broadcast course to market, the University of Staffordshire offers students professional-level training in state-of-the-art facilities.

The spaces provided to students at the University’s Stoke-on-Trent campus include a 60-seater esports arena, two broadcast galleries and well-equipped studio. Created as part of a recent multi-million pound expansion project, the facility can be run in parallel (with one gallery linked to the arena and the other to the studio), or as one large production suite.

China - Rightway Audio Consultants (RAC) has been appointed Optocore distributor for China, Hong Kong and Macau. This marks a strategic elevation of the existing reseller partnership between the two companies, which has flourished for a number of years.

“It was a mutual decision to deepen cooperation, which aligns with the long-term mutual benefits sought by both parties,” stated marketing director, Nan Hu. “This will create broader synergies in the future.”

Hong Kong-based RAC has immediately set up a programme of Optocore demos and training for its customers and partners. Now operating from a dedicated workshop in Norwich, it serves clients across the UK including artists like Ella Eyre and Mae Muller, with Van Damme at the heart of its operation.

Spain - Located in the city’s Raval district, The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) hosts exhibitions, debates, festivals, concerts, film cycles, courses and lectures around the core themes of the city and urban culture.

The CCCB features a variety of event, hospitality and learning venues including the Hall, a 730sq.m space with a capacity of around 400 people.

This Award recognises innovative and inclusive theatre excellence in today’s British theatre and celebrates the variety of ways contemporary theatre and its practitioners continue to break new ground in engaging audiences.

Now open for 2025 submissions, a wide variety of practice is eligible including the ongoing work of a theatre company, a specific production, an individual theatre artist or director, or an innovative theatre building design or performance space.

USA - Walk through the front doors of Telemundo Centre in Miami, and the sound of JBL is everywhere. Literally. From the glass-walled atrium to the broadcast control rooms, post-production suites, and live event spaces, NBCUniversal’s Spanish-language division has built an expansive audio environment around JBL Professional’s end-to-end loudspeaker ecosystem.

That integration begins in the building’s most acoustically challenging space: the atrium. A visually striking but highly reflective all-glass venue used for premieres, town halls, and client events, the atrium required a solution that could deliver clarity without overwhelming the space.

Germany - The AStA Summer Festival in Paderborn has been attracting up to 14,000 music fans to the western German city’s university campus every year since 1998.

One of the oldest and largest student-organised festivals in the country, this year’s event which took place on 5 June had something for everybody from German rap, pop and indie to rock and techno, with established headliners including Zartmann, Blond and Ikkimel in the line-up alongside student performers and regional bands.

Europe - DirectOut is used by system designer and engineer Ville Kauhanen to provide fail-safe stability for all his complex stadium-touring audio system designs.

Kauhanen has worked non-stop in the industry for nearly 30 years and with some of the highest profile artists on the planet. His recent work includes Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras tour, which concluded in December 2024. The tour visited 54 cities across five continents playing 149 shows and was the highest grossing tour of all time.

Kauhanen was the system engineer for the tour and provided the system infrastructure for each location. His method of working today is very different to when he first started, but, as he explains, his huge industry overview enables him to plan for the future, as well as succeed in the present.

Completed in 1926, Providence Park is the oldest facility configured as a soccer-specific stadium for use by an MLS team and is one of the most historic grounds used by any United States professional soccer team.

With a piece of music history right in front of the entrance and over 800 guests on campus, the event technology manufacturer celebrated with a big staff party in the Experience Centre at its headquarters in Neu-Anspach, Hesse, on 4 July.

Germany - From 12-15 June 2025, the German Tolkien Society hosted a four-day festival in Geldern am Niederrhein. A total of 14,000 Tolkien fans and fantasy enthusiasts enjoyed a varied programme, including a concert evening featuring diverse artists and ensembles.

Technical audio production was expertly handled by Rockline Sound&Light from Issum, who deployed an extensively scaled Wharfedale Pro system to cover the broad musical programme.
