UK -Stage Electrics have recently supplied the Baglan Community Church with a Roland M-300 Digital Live Mixing Console and two S-1608 Digital Snake Stage Boxes as part of a full audio, visual and lighting installation for their recently renovated multi-purpose venue in Port Talbot.

The renovation of the venue, previously a social club, which was started in August last year and is due to be completed later this month, took the building back to 'bare bones' allowing the audio installation to be designed utilising newly fitted Cat5e points. The venue is currently used primarily to host church services for the 220+ church members, but once the renovation is complete, the intention is to hire out the building to the community to use as a conference centre or hall. Indonesia - The New Wine International church in Jakarta, Indonesia, has the unusual distinction of being located on the third floor of a large shopping arcade. It is nevertheless extremely well equipped and places a big emphasis on music. Indeed, the church had planned a major Easter celebration concert which they wished to record. As a result, they turned to Innovason distributor La Mesa, who provided an Innovason Eclipse digital console equipped with the integrated M.A.R.S. 64-track digital recorder especially for the event.

"The church already has an analogue console," explained La Mesa's Didi Kartanegara, "but they felt that they would achieve better results using an Eclipse as FoH console and recorder rather than bringing in an external recorder and having to patch it to their existing console. UAE - Mario Bentley has joined Bosch Communications Systems as sales manager ProSound effective 15 April, 2013. In the future, Bentley will hold responsibility for Electro-Voice and Dynacord sales in the Middle East and Africa.

In the past, Bentley has successfully held various positions with Middle Eastern companies, including as project manager for Electro-Voice partner ALMOE AV Systems. USA - Rihanna's much anticipated Diamonds world tour kicked off in early March for 27 dates peppered across the U.S. and Canada through May - with more dates on the global horizon stretching into the fall. With Eighth Day Sound at the production helm, the audio kit included a pair of SD7s and a d&b audiotechnik PA provided by Eighth Day Sound, with Kyle Hamilton at FOH and Ed Ehrbar on monitors.

Last October, the group undertook an intense promotional tour (7-7-7) hitting seven countries in seven days for seven shows. Eighth Day supplied four complete control systems-two in Europe; one in the U.S. and another in Mexico City-so the engineers were able to simply walk in and mix. Although Ehrbar was working on an SD7 for the whirlwind week, Hamilton had to make do with another digital desk and was happy to be back on the SD7.

UK - Audio-Technica has revealed exciting plans for PLASA Focus, taking place at Leeds Royal Armouries between 30 April - 1 May. Featuring a brace of Allen & Heath GLD digital mixing desks, the Audio-Technica stand will give visitors the unique opportunity to mix a 35 channel live acoustic performance by UK rockers Deaf Havana, recorded at London's Union Chapel in April.

UK - Telling the extraordinary story of French chanteuse Édith Piaf - Leicester Curve's production of the eponymously-titled biographical drama enraptured audiences in March and April. Sound designer Ben Harrison chose a Yamaha CL3 for the production, which helped it to earn four star reviews in the national media.

Starring Frances Ruffelle - renowned as a West End musical star, as well as other roles - the production was initially staged in the Curve's Studio theatre. Such was its success that further performances were subsequently added in the larger main theatre.

Belgium - After more than two years of restoration work, the 1875 built Théatre Royal de Liège, home of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie (ORW), re-opened its doors to the public at the end of last year in Liège. The whole renovation project, unique in its kind, represented an investment of 31m euros and includes a fully-fledged L-Acoustics system.

Italy - Researcher and eco-acoustic composer David Monacchi has been using DPA Microphones' 4060 miniature microphones to capture the sounds of the rainforest as part of his long-term environmental sound-art project entitled Fragments of Extinction.

David Monacchi, who is Professor of Electroacoustic Music at the Conservatorio G.Rossini in Pesaro, Italy, is collaborating with various institutions on this project, which involves travelling to some of the world's most remote areas of intact rainforest to record complex soundscape portraits.

"I use several microphone techniques in the field, most of which involve quite heavy and complex systems," Monacchi explains. "DPA miniature microphones are extremely lightweight and this makes them highly suitable to field work where I may have to hike long distances in extreme terrain."
