Germany - Ultrasone, has announced the launch of its new professional headphone range: the scientifically designed S-Logic Natural Surround PRO headphones.

The PRO headphones are designed using S-Logic Natural Surround technology, an exclusive design to improve sound quality by using decentralised driver positioning. This moves the sound out of your head and into the space around you to create quality which resembles that of a live concert, without all the additional equipment. The S-Logic Natural Surround design projects the sound pressure at reduced levels by up to 3-4db and can potentially cut the risk of hearing damage by up to 40%, says the company.

As with all Ultrasone's headphones, the PRO range is designed with Ultra-Low-Emission (ULE) technology, which produces a low-frequency magnetic field. In traditional earphones, the magnetic radiation produced can be as much a

USA - Shure Incorporated has filed a Petition for Reconsideration on the FCC White Spaces Rules (docket 04-186) published in the Federal Register in February.

"Whether the Commission's new 'White Spaces' rules successfully protect incumbent operations, including particularly wireless microphone operations, in this challenging spectrum environment is a matter determined by the specific details of the FCC's rules. It is imperative that these rules provide sufficient protection when actually implemented in real world environments," said Mark Brunner, senior director of industry and public relations for Shure. "It is critical that the FCC's technical and operational rules -- including pre-certification testing rules -- 'get it right' before mass produced equipment is pushed into the market."

Toward that end, Shure urged in its filing that the Commission impose

UK - Since it was first established the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts (LIPA) has developed a diverse and expansive curriculum. With recent advances in technology, particularly on the digital side, there are inevitably, multiple demands and expectations upon any equipment investments it makes. That certainly applies to the recent purchase of loudspeaker systems and digital consoles from TMC based near Bradford.

"There were several demands that led us to choose d&b audiotechnik equipment for the sound technology courses," said John Attewell chief technician at LIPA. "On the one hand we were looking for two systems identical in performance, and of professional scale. We've had an in house PA system for some time, but not one that meets that last parameter.
