"The Earth is covered largely by water," pointed out Sennheiser's Rolf Meyer, helpfully. "But a much larger area is reliably covered by Sennheiser RF." And with that, cue the introduction of Net 1, the first steps in the company's next generation of RF. Net 1 is a hub for up to 10 Sennheiser wireless systems, but is designed not to render the existing million-or-so channels of Sennheiser RF redundant overnight.

"You can count on Sennheiser RF forever," continued Meyer playfully. "I was recently in an environment that was inaccessible to most of us until the early '90s - where 15 years ago you'd have been shot, in fact, without authorization. But it had a 1036 Sennheiser RF system - deep in the recesses of the Kremlin! I can't tell you how it got there, but when I asked the sound guy if he wanted to upgrade to a newer system he said, 'WhyΩ It works fine . . .'"

Hopefully, for the sake of Sennheiser's return on investment, the majority of customers will be more open to the innovation presented by Net 1.
