UK - Star Events Group has announced a 50% increase to the rigging capacity of its 20m and 25m span VerTech roofs, used at many major UK festivals. New high tensile steel trusses enable this increase within the existing roof architecture.

Each load bearing span across the stage can now carry up to 7.5 tons UDL at 25m span. Additional spans can be located in the 20m and 25m systems at 0.62m centres. Roof capacities of over 100 tons are now easily achievable.

Pete Holdich, director of stages for the company comments: "We trialled a few sections of this new truss at several festivals in 2010 and have now made a big investment to enable us to allocate several uprated spans to each roof in 2011. This puts our VerTech system in the upper echelon of world class heavy duty roofs for tour and festival use."

The Netherlands - Sound Projects has introduced the self powered SPX-65 to augment the SPX-series of identical, yet acoustically complementary loudspeaker systems.

Within the SPX family, each model is optimised for a specific coverage or function. In those situations where one point source cabinet will not deliver the necessary SPL or coverage, the SPX-65's neatly fills the gap, says the company.

Because of its constant horizontal coverage angle of 65 degrees and semi curved wide 15 degrees vertical radiation, it will deliver a flat slice of audio in the mid and higher frequencies. Wide enough to be used as a single in-fill or narrow enough to be used in multiples, a column or as a traditional sized line array module. The pragmatic fly frame and greatly simplified rigging hardware help the technician to quickly find the proper angles.

USA - Main Light Industries has introduced the LED-powered LightStar fibre optic illuminator, part of DiCon Lighting's FiberLamp product line. LightStar uses an LED light engine comprised of Red, Green, Blue, and White LEDs for a broad spectrum of colour choices as well as reducing the power draw and weight.

A key feature of the LED-powered LightStar is that it produces an output comparable to, or greater than, a fibre optic illuminator using a 150-watt metal halide light source. In a white colour mix, the LightStar is equivalent to the 150-watt metal halide powered illuminators. By using an LED light engine there is no transmission loss with a colour filter, so in deep, saturated colors, the LightStar has a greater output that is equivalent to 250-watt illuminators.

"By using LEDs as the light source, we have significantly decreased the power draw for the illuminator sin
