Denmark / The Netherlands - dnp Denmark reported an "outstanding response" to the launch of its new Zenith rear projection screen at last week's ISE 2011 in Amsterdam.

Aimed at the 100"-plus market, the new display pays homage to the fact that recently, brighter, more powerful projectors have become available. This has given rise to new challenges, such as how to prevent hot-spots showing up on the screen, while at the same time improving contrast / brightness uniformity and balancing viewing angles. This has been achieved with a low gain (of 2.2), along with more tint, and an anti-glare surface that minimises reflected ambient light and produces optimal 'eye-gonomics', says the company.

Proof of concept at ISE was in the form of a 128" Zenith display in partnership with Hitachi 5000 ANSI lumens projectors.

UK - LD-Systems have been making record sales with the MEI-1000, a new series of in-ear monitoring. The MEI-1000, like its predecessor the MEI-100, features 160 Channels in the UHF Band and can be purchased in different frequency groups within the range of 790-814MHz. In stereo mode (focus mode: off), the two input signals can be heard both left and right through the receiver, where you can adjust the balance between them.

In focus mode (double mono: on), both input signals are mixed and can be heard centrally through the receiver. The mixing level can be adjusted between the two signals. This feature allows musicians to alter the mixing level between instruments (in this instance however, an additional aux send would be required).

UK - James Thomas Engineering has announced the launch of X Truss which was designed in direct response to the call to create more carbon neutral products.

X Truss is fully compatible with 52cm SuperTruss and uses the same overall sizes and connection methods of the existing technology. This means all existing 52cm SuperTruss Gates, plates and corners are compatible with X Truss; X Truss can be mixed in the same system as 52cm SuperTruss (excluding within the same span); and X Truss can be used with existing ground support towers and sleeve assemblies.

UK - MilTec (UK) has released the LEDHead MTM-90P, a theatre quality moving head. Fitted with a powerful 90W white LED source, the output is comparable to a 575W discharge unit.

The 90P is extremely quiet, compact, lightweight and durable, making it suitable for use in theatres, rock 'n' roll, installations, corporate functions, live music events and TV studios, says the company.

Features include gobo morphing, motorised iris and 16-bit pan and tilt. The flat field allows for sharp focussing across the full width of gobos and eliminates the 'hot-spot' that many discharge models suffer from. The rotating gobos are extremely smooth in operation, giving you the functions required for professional use.

UK - Blackburn-based lighting rental company, HSL has added 200 Chroma-Q Color Web 125 visual effects panels from Artistic Licence to its hire inventory, now giving them the largest hire stock in the UK of this LED product.

The Color Web 125 joins HSL's already substantial stock of over 400 panels of Color Web 250mm. They first purchased the product when it was launched five years ago and since then it has been in almost constant use on a diverse range of shows and events.

Italy - Powersoft announced at Winter NAMM 2011 that the M Series line of power amplifiers is now shipping to distributors. The U851RO's small-diameter UniPoint capsule near the boundary eliminates phase distortion and delivers clear, high-output performance, says the company.
