UK - Apex is presenting a new version of its dBQ-zero EQ at this year's PLASA show in London, building on the product's success over the past three years.

The new dbQ-zero matches the previous product in terms of its 30-band constant-Q graphic EQ section on each channel, plus a filter section consisting of high-pass filter, high and low shelving equalizers and two notch filters. Apex has focused on improving inter-channel crosstalk and THD+N figures, as well as load stability with the implementation of updated line driver circuitry.

The dbQ-zero also features a new design of chassis for enhanced ruggedness, as well as a new and intuitive user interface. Two 10-segment LED level indicators, each with dedicated signal and clip LEDs, offer improved peak meter stability at low frequencies.

To simplify connection of the dBQ-zero in any application - whether on the road or in a fi

UK - Marl has launched a Citizen LED equivalent to the popular MR16 halogen light, offering "over four times better efficiency".

Available in the UK from Marl, the 4.5W Citizen CL-L251 delivers 290 lumens of light output at a colour temperature of 3000K with good colour rendering 'Ra85', equivalent to a standard 20W MR16 halogen.

The range is available with colour temperatures up to 5000K, delivering up to 425 lumens from 4.5W. The CL-L251 has a luminous efficiency of up to 106 lumens per watt, compared to 16 lumens per watt for a halogen light. Since the drive voltage of the CL-L251 is 9-10V, the LED can be packaged as a drop-in replacement for the standard halogen light.

In addition to the direct cost savings, the Citizen CL-L251 from Marl provides significant indirect energy and maintenance cost reductions. The LED light emits much less waste heat than Halogen,

UK Blackbox Recorder manufacturer JoeCo has announced that the new digital Lightpipe variant of the 24-track live recorder is now shipping. The BBR-1A enables capture of multi-channel audio from a digital mixing console that supports Lightpipe (TOSlink) inputs and outputs.

Three eight-channel Lightpipe inputs can be connected from the console to the recorder, with the signal returned to the console via three Lightpipe outputs. This particular i/o format limits 24-channel recording to either 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz, although it can record 12 channels at higher sample rates using the SMUX2 protocol. However, the unit still has the complete analogue i/o functionality of the unbalanced BBR-1 version for situations where use of a Lightpipe interface is not possible. This makes the full 96 kHz facility available in the analogue domain.

All other standard Blackbox Recorder features such a

UK - Fast Track Switching is a new Ethernet-based switching technology developed by Harting that is suited to communication and control of theatre, concert and indoor/outdoor event automation systems.

Ethernet is now the adopted networking standard for automation and the theatre environment is no exception. Applications include networked controls for hoists and other stage machinery.

Unlike alternative proprietary Ethernet protocol approaches which use modified versions of the Ethernet standard compatible with the requirements of different industries, Fast Track Switching is totally based on standard Ethernet, but adds a new switching method to ensure that industry-specific requirements on performance and determinism are fully met, says the company.

The key components in Fast Track Switching are Fast Ethernet switches in Harting's Ha-VIS FTS 3000 product family, which can de

UK - Artistic Licence Rail-DALI, the all-in-one DMX/DALI converter, is being superseded by two new products: Rail-DMX-DALI and Rail-DALI-DMX

The frequency with which DMX and DALI systems are being used together is continually increasing and has now become common practice. The need to control DALI fixtures with DMX controllers has similarly increased and become more sophisticated, to the point where simple conversion is no longer adequate.

The new requirement is for a DMX controller that can control DALI fixtures in the way they have been designed to operate, rather than trying to force a DALI fixture to behave like a DMX fixture. DALI is slow in comparison to DMX and therefore has more of a control structure than DMX which must be taken into consideration at the product design stage.

Rail-DMX-DALI has been designed with this knowledge, combined with customer feedback, to giv

UK - Chauvet has announced the arrival of the Q-Spot 260-LED and the Q-Spot 160-LED. The Q-Spot 260-LED is a moving yoke luminaire equipped with a 60-Watt white LED providing a hard-edged spot output, similar to a 250W discharge fixture, without the costly lamp changes or high energy consumption. The Q-Spot160-LED is a moving yoke equipped with a powerful 20-watt white LED - comparable to a 150-watt fixture, with a lux measurement of 7,641 at one metre, which is 46 percent brighter than the Q-Spot 150-LED which it replaces.

The Q-Spot series is designed for small- to medium-sized installations, as well as mobile applications, particularly those with low ceilings, where heat emissions may be a concern. Both fixtures are lightweight and feature long-life LED light sources, which mean less need to climb ladders for lamp changes and benefit in regard to energy efficiency. Additional
