UK - DB Systems has introduced Microsoft Surface to the UK event and exhibition market.

Microsoft Surface is a multi-touch system that allows several users to simultaneously touch up to 52 points on the screen. Users can also operate a variety of programmes and features to perform numerous functions at any one time, such as maximising and minimising windows, viewing product data, as well as animation and video content.

The advanced technology utilised by Microsoft Surface can also view and interact with objects placed on the screen. This allows users to move information between the system and devices like mobile phones or cameras.

Oliver Richardson, sales director of DB Systems, says, "Microsoft Surface is a truly remarkable piece of interactive technology, which will be hugely beneficial to exhibitors.

"As a display system, it has a whole multitude of applicatio

Italy - Proel has announced the launch of a new compact polypropylene-housed active speaker system - the 500 Watt Flash12HA.

Offering significant advantages of the previous Proel Flash equivalent, the Flash12HA is the first Proel speaker system to be fitted with custom designed Celestion neodymium speakers - a 12" woofer and 1" compression driver. Significantly, despite the massive increase in power, the weight of the new Flash12HA is just 19kg as opposed to the previous 250 Watt model, which weighed 20kg.

UK distributors Proel (International) say the new Flash12HA delivers an extended bass response, a powerful, defined high-end and superb definition in the vocal range. It's designed for applications where no-compromise sound quality has to be matched with ease of portability and reliability.

The Flash 12HA's onboard amplification delivers a bi-amped continuous 400

USA - Chief Manufacturing has announced new Fusion Series Pull-Out mounts, designed for video walls and digital signage, and single-screen recessed applications.

Inspired by installer feedback, the new FusionSeries Pull-Out mounts (LSMVU/MSMVU) extend 7" (178 mm) for easy cable access and servicing in hard-to-reach installations - even on the centremost screen of a video wall matrix. Fine-tuning of plumb adjustment also ensures that the screens are perfectly vertical, even if the wall is not. These comprehensive mounting solutions include a variety of features to make installation and maintenance of multi-screen configurations a breeze, says the company.

ControlZone Levelling provides post-installation fine-tuning of height and levelling for exact alignment. Chief's exclusive ClickConnect feature offers an audible click when the screens safely engage with the mount so you

UK - TV One has expanded its extensive range of RGBHV over Cat 5 transmission products with the introduction of the new 1T-CT-420 system. Big on capability, but small in size, this lightweight, economical system was designed for installations where space is limited and budgets are tight, says the company.

The 1T-CT-421 Transmitter accepts resolutions of up to 1280x1024 and is a unity gain device, which requires no adjustments for the encoding of the signal. The included 1T-CT-422 Receiver has Gain and Equalization adjustments to compensate for cable runs up to 180m in length. This avoids the loss of high frequency portions of the signal and results in clear text and picture elements with sharp edges and no degradation.

Both units are supplied with TV One's space saving and twist secure locking power connector.

USA - Elation Professional will be introducing an intelligent spot/wash moving head "like no other seen before" at LDI 2009 in Orlando. The new Platinum Spot 5R emits an output comparable to a 575-watt fixture, yet it's half the size, uses less than half the energy, and weighs half as much as a typical 250-watt fixture, says the company. It also moves faster on pan and tilt, as well as on colour/gobo changes.

In comparison to a 250-watt fixture, the Platinum Spot 5R not only weighs 50% less, but blasts out twice the output, uses 25% less energy, while measuring 2/3 the size.

This ability to obtain 575-watt-like brightness in such an incredibly small, fast, energy-efficient package is something that designers and lighting installers have constantly asked for, said Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional. The Platinum Spot 5R represents a giant advance

The Netherlands - TOA will introduce two all-new product lines for the audio-visual, sound contracting and systems integration markets at the forthcoming ISE 2010 exhibition (Amsterdam RAI, 2-4 February 2010).

The first, the TOA D-2000 series, is an all-in-one digital mixing system that combines the functions of an auto mixing, matrix switching and signal processing. While the system's table-mounted remote console unit boasts a small footprint, the D-2000 can be expanded to comprise up to four rack processing units for a total of up to 128 audio inputs and outputs, say TOA.

CobraNet compatibility means the processing modules can be connected to a LAN for remote operation, while the D-2000 also provides interfaces directly with AMX and Crestron control protocols so that it can be smoothly integrated into multimedia conferencing and presentation systems.

Israel - Waves Audio is now shipping Vocal Rider, the first of Waves' series of new Mixing tools. Vocal Rider is designed for mixers and recording engineers, automatically riding the levels of vocal tracks. Instead of manually riding a console fader, or tediously drawing in every level change on a DAW track, Vocal Rider does it automatically, making it a true timesaver, says the company.

The user sets the target range of the vocal level in relation to the rest of the mix. Vocal Rider then compensates for all deviations from the target, intelligently raising or lowering the vocal volume, instantly. Unlike compression, Vocal Rider adds absolutely no additional colouring to the track.

Belgium - ADB Lighting is showing its newest products at JTSE 2009, from 24-25 November at Dock Pullman Paris - including several products that are on show for the first time in France.

ALC4, the new ADB LED cyclorama fixture for theatre and TV studio lighting, launched at IBC 2009, offers a range of one million DMX-controlled colours including pure yellow and soft ambers and seven levels of preselected white (2700° K to 6500° K). The unit is exceptionally 'green' in terms of energy efficiency, delivering the equivalent of 1250W of halogen power for an actual power consumption of just 160W.

Uniform colour mixing in the LED source eliminates coloured shadows and visible pixels. It provides smooth, flicker-free light output, with no colour or white changes when dimmed, while an optical feedback circuit, per LED source, guarantees consistency in colour, white and light ou

USA - Launched at PLASA09 and currently showing at LDI in Orlando, the DVI Parrot by Carallon is billed as the first truly user-configurable EDID emulator. EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) is a message, normally stored in computer monitors and other display devices, that computer graphics cards must see in order to function properly. An EDID emulator is necessary wherever devices with graphics cards are connected to projectors, plasma screens, LED displays, matrix switchers and format convertors.

The Parrot offers complete configurable control, allowing quick and easy modification of all EDID parameters, greatly simplifying system set-up and trouble-shooting, especially of the large complex video systems that are becoming so popular, says the company.

The Parrot is easily configured via USB on either Windows or Macintosh computers using a programme called the Par
