USA - Renkus-Heinz has released a major upgrade to Beamware, the software that configures the acoustical output of its Iconyx digitally steerable array systems. Version 1.4 of Beamware allows sound system designers to define and steer multiple beams from each Iconyx array module, say the company.

With up to four beams available from each 'building block' IC8 module, eight separate beams of acoustical energy can be produced by an IC16 array, 12 by an IC24 and 16 by an IC32. The acoustical center of each beam can be located anywhere between the top and bottom of the array. Beamware's intuitive GUI now includes an 'Auto Focus' function that allows the designer to specify the number of beams to be produced by the array. USA - If you are tired of waiting for your fog to rise, American DJ provides a solution with the Jet Stream Fogger, a new fixture that shoots a high output of smoke straight up in the air like a volcano.

Similar to a pyro-type effect, this high-flying fogger creates a thick cloud of fog that settles naturally from the ceiling down onto the floor. It marks a major advance over other fog machines that disperse bottom-heavy fog too low to properly fill a venue.

Germany - Axxent has introduced a new intercommunications belt pack BP100V with vibration alarm, in addition to the usual light signal. Many users in the event industry - be it sound or light technicians - complained about intercom alarm signals going unnoticed. Axxent reacted to these complains with the new vibration alarm that will be "felt" immediately, whereas the light signal might be overlooked.

UK - Zest Audio Ltd, an audio-visual company based in Lisburn, manufactures the 'Atmosphere' - a hard disk music control system which can output controlled music in up to four independent zones. The company has now announced that Tuesday 1 August sees the launch of 'Atmosphere Glo - a smaller, more compact system which, although £300 cheaper at £599, still has many features of the original, say the company.

The new product range, which consists of two models (plus slave), is notable for its level of efficiency, light weight, compact dimensions and simple, practical mode of operation, says the company.

Each LED power supply is capable of dimming twelve (at 350mA) or five (at 700mA) LEDs.
