UK - Denon DJ is launching two new DJ mixer models that will be previewed at PLASA 2005. The DN-X500 Matrix Mixer and DN-X900 Digital/Analogue Matrix Mixer are designed to provide "the best possible combination of audio quality and features for DJs in both the analogue and digital domains".

The DN-X500 is a professional 4U 19in rack-mountable analogue matrix mixer, with eight line and two phono inputs that can be freely assigned to any of four channels. Four smooth 60 mm VCA channel faders provide level control, and a responsive 45 mm VCA crossfader offers contour adjustment. Independent PFL channel meters help DJs to optimise and match levels for each source, ensuring a smooth transition between sources when crossfading.

UK - Hall Stage is launching several new products at PLASA. On display will be the award-winning DGS counterweight drive and a series of new hoists from ASM, including the Synchro and the Spider steel band units. The new ASM D8++ chain hoist offers a high specification at entry-level prices. D8++ means no secondary safety line required, say Hall Stage, so quicker and easier installation and no noisy brakes - so the unit can be used in show conditions.

Hall Stage will also have the laser-locating stage truck system from Visual Act on - or near - the stand. There is also the first new track system from Halls in a good few years - an attractive, lightweight, motorized aluminium system, called T300, which has been designed for presentation environments, such as conference rooms, small-scale theatres and preview cinemas, say the company.

UK - The propellerplasma. rotating video display, which spins on its Z axis, just like a propeller, is available exclusively from Arcstream AV, which holds distribution rights for the UK & Ireland and the Middle East. A number of screens can be used simultaneously, with seamless sequencing from one screen to another, says Arcstream. The effect is intensified when several propellers are synchronized. A whole range of display configurations are possible if more than one propeller is employed. The type, direction and duration of the rotation can be set according to requirements. The display receives wireless video signal and power supply, which means permanent rotation in both directions is possible.

Italy - The Palco-3 Mobile promises "great efficiency and high colour rendering". The LED-based light source offers a number of key features: 100,000 hours life at full power, cold light and absolutely no maintenance; top colour efficiency: the red's intensity for example is the same as that of a 750W halogen lamp, but consumes less than 100W, and silent operation. The fixture is fan-free and has no cooling system.

Palco 3 Mobile is fitted with absolute encoders, so when reset doesn't require any repositioning procedure and goes immediately to the required position. If accidentally moved, it restores the position and when switched off, a special mechanism enables to block the motor in the current position. It has a considerable range of interchangeable optics designed to meet the most varied illumination requirements.

UK - KV2 Audio will show its VHD large-format active speaker system at PLASA. The VHD system is comprised of the VHD 2.0 Mid / High enclosure, the VHD 4.18 Quad 18" subwoofer system and the VHD 2.15 double 15" subwoofer system. The system is active driven by specially developed rack-mounted amplification and control units. The VHD 2000 powers and controls the VHD 2.0 as well as providing two separate signal control paths for subwoofer systems. The VHD 3200 is 3,200W 2-channel, subwoofer amplifier with two completely separate amplifier channels including power supplies.

First among them, the ART-DC dimmer is a fully environmentally friendly, portable, stand-alone, wireless or DMX battery powered dimming system specifically developed for low voltage lamps. Originated for the fabulous The Storr - Unfolding Landscape arts project in Scotland, the ART-DC dimmer is now part of the diverse Avolites ART dimming range.

The ART-DC runs off industrial or car batteries and dims lights up to 20A. It's currently available in 4-channel/32A modules, and it can be either a dimming or a relay/switching module. Denmark - The popular Maxxyz console has received a boost in speed and functionality with the release of version 1.5. The company says that months of user-input and an extensive beta testing program have ensured the console's steady development and success in the market as the desk of choice for many lighting designers and programmers.

Elements of the software have been completely revised resulting in significant improvement in performance while components of the user interface have received a face-lift for more consistent operation. USA - The United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued to Meyer Sound a patent pertaining to the company's MAPP Online acoustical prediction software.

The patent describes a method of providing acoustical response predictions for a modelled loudspeaker system over a communications network. In the case of MAPP Online, an Internet-enabled client-server system lets modelling software running on a powerful server at Meyer Sound's headquarters provide the computational "back end" to GUI software running on the user's local computer. The patent is the 33rd US or foreign patent issued in Meyer Sound's name since the company's founding in 1979.

UK - Le Maitre will be holding live pyrotechnic demos at PLASA 2005, in association with the PSA. The company will be holding demos on the Top Deck at Earl's Court. The demos are scheduled for 12pm, 2pm and 4pm every day of the show. Hosted by Le Maitre's head pyrotechnician, Mark Thomas, the demos will allow visitors to see pyrotechnics in action. Effects will include Prostage II Gerbs, Waterfalls, Mines, Flames and Robotics and there will be a chance to examine the latest firing systems.

Italy - The Regia 2048 version 2.15 Rev.1 boasts a number of new features. Hands-on simultaneous control of a maximum of 38 cue lists (static or changing scenes) is possible, where each list can contain an unlimited number of cues.

Via the touch screen, it is now possible to access the new Direct Access mode, which allows the operator to change the current scene instantly, should this be necessary for any unexpected reason. SMPTE enables the synchronization of a programmed show with an SMPTE source.

Regia is equipped with an effects generator that can create in a few seconds complex effects on any attribute of the fixtures being used. All playback registers can be controlled remotely via DMX, using any external desk.

UK - Following the success of Pro Display's LCD Projection Glass Technology, the company has developed a new LCD projection film which can be applied to any existing glass or Plexiglas.

"A revolutionary new product which will transform the world of visual display and advertising", according to the company, this film consists of a liquid crystal polymer which can change its visual appearance when an electrical current is activated. The edge of the film has an electrical contact strip which transforms the film from clear (transparent) to frosted (translucent) using a simple On/Off switch.

When the film is in its translucent or frosted state, images can be projected onto the glass creating a high definition digital display screen (up to UXGA resolution). Other applications for the LCD Film include privacy and security.

UK - Le Mark, winners to date of five PLASA Show product awards, has now been appointed the UK's exclusive distributor for Austria's premier portable show, stage and dance floor company Tüchler GmbH and will be launching the range to the UK at the PLASA Show (11 -14 September, Earls Court, London).

Le Mark has worked closely with the family-owned business for many years. Product synergy between Le Mark's own StudioTak 'peel clean' TV flooring and the Austrian dance and show floor has seen steady growth in Central and Eastern Europe. UK - ETC officially launches its powerful Congo lighting-control console at PLASA 2005. Sneak-previewed at last year's PLASA and now shipping worldwide, Congo offers seamless integration of conventional and moving light control, say the company. The first system to combine ETC and Avab expertise and engineering, Congo earned its stripes at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, where four final beta test boards controlled hundreds of automated and conventional luminaires, 16 media servers, 15,000 channels of lighting effects and 37 universes of DMX. Since then it has found favour throughout Europe, being ordered by and installed in theatres, TV studios and multi-purpose venues alike.

USA - American DJ has introduced the Accu Spot 250 II. An upgraded version of its Accu Spot 250 automated moving head, the Accu Spot 250 II has a number of new features that make controlling a light show easier, including Remote DMX Addressing (RDMX), say the company. The new RDMX feature gives users the ability to change the Accu Spot 250 II's DMX values remotely, from any DMX console.

Other features include an improved 4-button menu system that makes accessing and navigating the menu an easier and clearer process. A new glass gobo has also been added to the unit, so that it now comes equipped with two glass gobos instead of one (out of a total of seven gobos plus spot). UK - Litec will be present at this year's PLASA show with lots of new products in both the trussing and rigging areas.

Libera 105 is the latest product in the well known and innovative roofing, grid and truss system line, say the company. It will be officially on show at PLASA for the first time.
