Hayden Laboratories, exclusive UK distributors for Rane pro audio products from the US, launches Rane’s new AC 24, stereo 4-way active crossover. The product is aimed at domestic, commercial or professional use, and for those wanting to optimize their audio systems. The AC 24 combines conventional analogue controls with digital signal processing. The result is a fully-featured, high performance product.

Digital technology links the analogue inputs with the analogue outputs (these are XLR balanced) with the analogue controls on the front panel allowing the AC24 to perform in a way not possible using analogue circuits. The analogue Linkwitz-Riley implementation guarantees, by definition in phase adjacent outputs, which allows the two signals to sum correctly. The use of digital processing allows the product to add appropriate phase compensation so that all outputs add properly when

In recent years, Duran Audio have seen a growing market demand for high power digital directivity controlled (DDC) loudspeaker columns, such as the Intellivox 1608. The 1608 was the first ‘full range’ Intellivox, with previous units being better suited to vocal reinforcement. It continues to amaze engineers, say Duran, many finding it difficult to accept that what looks like an old-fashioned column loudspeaker can offer such transparent musical reproduction at high SPLs. Applications for the 1608 have ranged from speech reinforcement, live music in theatrical shows, corporate events and classical music concerts, and in acoustic environments such as churches, sports halls and factory buildings. The Intellivox 1608 has even served as a mobile touring system!

For Duran Audio, the growing acceptance of DDC-controlled systems in theatres and live concerts has been the key reason
