USA / UK - The success of GLP's impression X4 Bars was recognised for the second time in a month - by major industry bodies on both sides of the Atlantic.

Following its Live Design Award in New York earlier in the month the product picked up a similar 'Lighting Product of the Year' gong at the Association of British Theatre Technicians Awards 2016, which took place just over a week later during the ABTT Theatre Show at Alexandra Palace, London.

It was voted after an experienced jury of working practitioners and industry peers had considered entries for this year's ABTT Awards which were carefully reviewed on the day.

The GLP impression X4 Bar 20 LED Batten stood out to the judges, who remarked that "GLP's new Batten, with its innovative zoom feature and impressive light output, reinvents the light curtain."

GLP Inc president, Mark Ravenhill, commented, "We are deli

USA - Danley Sound Labs introduced the TH-50 subwoofer in 2007, and its low-end performance quickly earned it the respect and love of home- and commercial-theatre enthusiasts. Unfortunately, Danley had to suspend production of the TH-50 in 2011 due to supplier issues. Now, happily, those issues have been resolved and thus Danley is resuming production of the TH-50.

"Audiophiles continue to revere the TH-50, and we have had innumerable requests to get it back into production," said Mike Hedden, president and CEO of Danley Sound Labs. "Tom Danley's patented Tapped Horn [TH] subwoofer design seems to compel the laws of physics to do magical things, and the TH-50 seems to leverage the Tapped Horn design for maximum effect. It's a beautiful (and incredibly powerful) subwoofer, plain and simple. We're proud to have the TH-50 back in production."

Europe - Yvan Pe?ard, Ayrton's chief design and technology officer, has continued to work his magic on array of innovations which have enlarged the scope of several of the Ayrton ranges, the latest of which is MagicPanel-FX, a new fixture with visually stunning square optics. MagicPanel-FX is an exciting new multi-function, multi-use luminaire which marks another step in the evolution of the MagicPanel family, says the company.

MagicPanel-FX's front face comprises a 5 x 5 array of new squared lenses with perfectly isolated, high-powered RGBW LED emitters. Together these offer new possibilities for creating 2D graphical effects. Each of the 25 squared 65mm output lenses have an optical surface equivalent to that of an 80mm round lens, which means MagicPanel-FX also produces a powerful beam capable of creating "extraordinarily new 3D volumetric effects".

USA - The Maverick MK2 Wash is now available. Part of the Chauvet Professional Maverick series, the fixture is powered by 12 OSRAM 40-watt RGBW LEDs and features a custom designed optical system, along with full spectrum colour mixing, to offer an impressive combination of performance capabilities.

"The MK2 Wash gives designers a new, more powerful and far more versatile tool than was ever available in its category," said Albert Chauvet, CEO of Chauvet. "Its output is far beyond that of any fixture close to its size. As a result, the MK2 Wash is not only extremely bright with the power to punch through stage lighting, it's also very fast with rapid and smooth movements."

Brightness and speed are only two of the attributes that distinguish the Maverick MK2 Wash. The fixture's broad zoom angle of 7°-49° gives it the flexibility to create beam effects as easily as it

Australia - The ENTTEC Aleph2 ET DX 4 (DX4) is billed as a sleek, cost effective and energy efficient RGBW LED fixture that outputs a stunning array of colours.

"I'm incredibly proud of the attractive look of this fixture; the round lenses are reminiscent of the old MR16 strip lights we used for foot lights or toning drops. Unlike those traditional strip lights, the DX4 is low in power consumption and heat generation, making it a breeze to maintain, especially when it comes to the now obsolete chores of lamp and colour changing," notes ENTTEC Americas general manager Jeremy Kumin.

The DX4 has been scientifically calibrated and provides true warm whites as well as cool whites. A total of 64 custom colours can also be created and save via the versatile preset menu. The DX4 comes with 25 colour defaults, including several whites, RGB Yellow, RGB Purple, RGB Cyan plus popular

We are very pleased that after winning an iF Design and a Red Dot Award, our stands are nominated for a further prominent prize. The various awards and nominations as well as the extremely positive feedback we have received fr

UK - Theatres and stages rely on lifts to raise and lower lighting, sound and other equipment. Traditional theatre cable reeling drums will generally only handle one cable type, and with the demand for ever more technology and cables, multiple drums have to be used. This can cause problems for technicians when overhead space above the stage is limited or already allocated to other lifting equipment. In addition, a slip ring is often necessary to accommodate the inner rotation, making other services such as fibre optic cables or fluids difficult or impossible.

igus has developed a cable-friendly alternative to the reeling drum with its e-spool system, which allows multiple cable types and diameters (even compressed air and fluids) to be enclosed in one e-chain, with no limit on the direction of travel and no joins or slip-rings. An integrated spring enables rotary retraction, a

With its 94 mm diameter collimator positioned close to the transmitting lens, MagicDot-SX delivers a tight beam with up to 75% optical efficiency, while

USA - Danley Sound Lab has announced that the new Go-2 loudspeaker is now available and shipping. While Danley is known for building unconventional loudspeakers and subs that use innovative technologies (including the massive Jericho Horn employed in many of the world's largest arenas and stadiums) the Go-2 fills a gap at the opposite end of the spectrum, where smaller, low-cost loudspeakers are needed. Importantly - and this is why the research and development took so long - the Go-2 uses Danley's patented Synergy Horn technology in clever ways to give it the sound quality worthy of the Danley name, says the company.

The Go-2 uses injection-moulded cabinets that are constructed, like all Danley molded loudspeakers and subwoofers, in Gainesville, Georgia. While completely at home indoors, both in terms of aesthetics and rigging points, the Go-2 is also impervious to weather an

UK - Tree surgeons and other professionals from the arboriculture industry have embraced a new technology that measures the shock load and weight of branches as they are cut during felling or maintenance.

The Impact Block load cell is manufactured in partnership with tree safety equipment pioneer DMM and contains electronics and software from force measurement, load monitoring and suspended weighing load cell equipment specialist Straightpoint. A tree maintenance company in the sector commissioned the product.

The industry has acknowledged that the Impact Block can fill gaps in knowledge about the forces put through rigging equipment and the weight of loads as they are cut away from trees. It can become as important as a training device as it is a practical onsite tool for the sector.

Unlike crane-related or other typical rigging scenarios, in tree applications profess
