USA - Meyer Sound has announced that veteran engineer and sound system designer Paul Giansante has joined the company as touring manager. In this position, Giansante will work closely with tour liaison manager Buford Jones as part of Meyer Sound's expanding touring group.

Giansante has toured with a wide range of artists including Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Sade, Neil Young, Beastie Boys, Zucchero, Parliament and Frank Sinatra. He has worked closely with well-respected engineers as Buford Jones (previous to his joining Meyer Sound), Jon Lemon, Dave Bracey, Robert Collins, John Shearman, Colin Norfield, Roger Lindsay, Al Tucker, Paddi Addison, and Jim "Redford" Sanders.

Giansante comes to Meyer Sound after several years with Sennheiser/Turbosound, and has previously worked with other touring companies including Britannia Row, Italy's Nuovo

USA - Martin Professional, Inc. has announced the hiring of Charles "Meechie" Thomas as regional sales manager - west for the company's Entertainment division.

Thomas, who will be providing support to Martin dealers in the West Coast region from Martin's West Coast office in Simi Valley, California, has 10 years of industry experience with extensive knowledge in truss structures and theatrical motors.

Thomas comes to Martin from a sales position at World Show International, a prime fabric manufacturer for the entertainment Industry. Prior to that he worked for truss manufacturer Total Structures, where he held positions in production control and sales.

USA - The Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film has announced that Scott C. Parker has joined its MFA/BFA design faculty to teach lighting. Boasting 26 years of experience in the entertainment field, Parker has credits ranging from Radio City Music Hall to Town Hall. Parker has also worked extensively in television.

According to Parker, "This is an exciting time for the university. Johnny Carson gifted over $9 million for the renovation and expansion of the theatre and film programmes. Of that, $1 million is set aside as an endowment specifically dedicated towards keeping film, lighting and sound technology current."

France - L-Acoustics has announced that industry veterans Alain Courieux and Sherif El Barbari have been appointed as consultants to the loudspeaker manufacturer.

CEO Christian Heil comments: "This double appointment directly reflects our current strategy. We have initiated a process of strengthening L-Acoustics' technical support on three levels."First, we wish to reinforce technical support to both end-users and independent sound designers (consultants and mixing engineers). Germany - Meyer Sound has announced the appointment of Michael Bahr to the position of marketing coordinator at Meyer Sound Germany. Sims brings with him over 25 years of lighting industry experience, his early years spent running his own lighting consultancy firm. After a 10 year run with Strand Lighting where he worked as architectural product manager, he became the regional specification sales manager for the Juno Lighting Group.

When not on the road, Sims, who started in the new position on 16 July, will work from a home office near Orange County, California while also spending time at Martin's West Coast office in Simi Valley.

Australia - Lighting control manufacturer, LSC Lighting Systems, has appointed Trevor Sykes to the role of research & development manager based in the Melbourne Head Office.

Sykes comes to LSC with an extensive background and impressive employment history, including being part of the LSC team from 1988-1999 as a product development engineer. Whilst at LSC he co-designed the Axiom, which was honoured with an Australian Design Award in 1993. Adding to this, he was also responsible for the design of another 20 Stage Lighting products.
