The complex includes halls and rooms used for conferences, seminars, weddings, and banquets

UK - The East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre is one of the most active Islamic institutions in Britain, offering a wide range of services including daily prayers and pastoral care, as well as working in partnership with local agencies to contribute towards improvements in education, health provision, environment and community cohesion.

As well as its main prayer halls, the complex includes halls and rooms used for conferences, seminars, weddings, and banquets. During busy times such as Ramadan, the Mosque’s congregation can rise above 5,000 on any given day, prompting its authorities to introduce technological support to ensure maximum participation.

The Centre wished to be able to broadcast content from the main prayer hall to screens placed throughout the centre, as well as live-streaming to those unable to attend in person. Head of tech at the Centre, Fokrul Amin, visited the ISE exhibition with a view to identifying the best PTZ camera systems for the project. Impressed by Avonic’s range of cameras, Fokrul contacted Avonic’s UK distributor Polar who provided demonstration equipment and clarified specifications before supplying the equipment. The installation was carried out by London-based freelance Rupert de Renzy-Martin, a multi-skilled AV engineer with more than 20 years’ experience across four continents.

Having identified the positions to gain optimal coverage, Rupert installed six Avonic CM93 NDI PTZ cameras in white. The CM93 is Avonic’s most versatile PTZ camera, delivering 4K Ultra HD output at 60fps, with 30x zoom in 4K and 50x zoom in full HD, while setting a new standard in ultra-low latency video over IP. Low latency was essential for the Centre to ensure minimal delay on video feeds being shared throughout the building, whilst the need for high-zoom and functionality at minimal, medium, and full light applications was essential. The CM93 cameras are controlled using Avonic’s AV-CON300-IP controller.

Will Turney, head of Polar Integrated Solutions division comments: “Polar are very happy to have worked with such an iconic multi-use worship and education site. On this project we worked closely with the integrator and end-user to fully understand the requirements and ensure we provided the best solution. Polar supported multiple demonstrations and tests to make sure the correct solution was specified. The CM93 NDI from Avonic is a fantastic, feature-rich camera which delivers outstanding video quality at an extremely competitive price-point.”
