Adam Beaumont, head of AC-ET's rigging sales division, James Bawn from the lighting division and Stuart Moots from the audio division co-ordinated the event, which involved their collective skills, experience and resources, plus some of the industry's leading rigging, lighting and audio products. The equipment was taken to the college for the day and set up a series of live interactive demonstrations in the purpose built Grange Arts Centre performance facility. Usher's futuristic, high-concept show presented a complex challenge for lighting designer Peter Morse and associate LD Eric Wade. "We had to design around a lot of fly gags and moving set pieces," notes Wade who heads FOHShow, a lighting services company. "The rig is designed to look big but not be completely massive; it's large but not over the top. It fills two trucks and features between 160-200 fixtures."

Running throughout the second half of the year, The Judds' tour proved to be both a finale and a reunion, as mother Naomi has largely been off the road since 1991.

Aimed at the 100"-plus market, the new display pays homage to the fact that recently, brighter, more powerful projectors have become available. This has given rise to new challenges, such as how to prevent hot-spots showing up on the screen, while at the same time improving contrast / brightness uniformity and balancing viewing angles. This has been achieved with a low gain (of 2.2), along with more tint, and an anti-glare surface that minimises reflected ambient light and produces optimal 'eye-gonomics', says the company.

The band has recruited Hollywood visual effects specialist John Attard who has worked on films such as Gladiator, Last Samurai, Harry Potter, Holes and many more. Attard realised that by augmenting the shows with 3D elements he could bring the level of audience involvement in the show to a whole new dimension.

The 3D used in TAPFS is the same as that used in cinemas. The Audience wears 3D polarised glasses, stereo images are then sent to the eyes and the brain sees the whole thing in 3D.

The Live Action Arena - the largest indoor tri oval racetrack in the UK - took up the entire hall, with a performance area of approximately 120m wide by 100 deep, and was the focus of the exhibition for the most serious petrol heads, speed freaks and performance car enthusiasts. They were treated to a series of races and stunts by some of the fastest vehicles on four - and three - wheels for 55 minutes of burning rubber, screeching brakes and adrenalized excitement. The project was conceived when Alessandra Toscani made an offer to a priest in Parma who wanted to project a nativity scene onto the façade of his church (known as the Oratorio dei Rossi). Following this, the city council (through its appointed bodies Gecc and CCN) assessed the possibility of replacing the traditional festive illumination with projected Christmas scenes.

The artistic design was funded by the shops in the street, sponsored by IRES (the power company) and Parma city council, and was entrusted to Alessandra Toscani's agency ....And Arts, with the technical support of Giuseppe Cavatorta's Top Service and Italo Bellocchi's Brait Acoustic. In London, Madame Tussauds' show services manager, Simon Morris, augmented the press launch lighting with the latest Philips Selecon LED lighting fixture - the PL1.

Morris's brief was to achieve high energy, live music atmosphere that would excite the media without compromising the press photographers' ability to capture clear shots of the Lady Gaga figure. Last summer, LOCOG announced the appointment of Danny Boyle as artistic director of the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, and a team of executive producers led by Steven Daldry to oversee the Olympic and Paralympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies in 2012.

Now roles within the London 2012 Ceremonies Team working at Three Mills Studios in East London are being advertised on the London 2012 website.

The Wybron Mobile Light Lab will first head to Fresno, Calif, where it will host events at Michael Garrison Associates and Live Light Inc. on 14 and 15 March respectively. It will then head to Musson Theatrical in Santa Clara, Calif, for a 16 March event and Holzmueller Productions in San Francisco, for a 17 March event. The idea was to re create the family favourite BBC show Strictly Come Dancing for which RML is lighting supplier. RML donated MAC 700's and Alpha Wash 300's to the charity event held in Canterbury. The MAC 700's include the animation wheel, often required for optimum lighting effects within a television studio.
