“Our goal is always to provide the right equipment, in the right quantity, and at the right time”

UK - IPS (Impact Production Services) has announced the addition of 400 x 1000mm and 100 x 320mm Martin Sceptron XB fixtures to its hire inventory, alongside a complete suite of rigging, power, and control infrastructure. This significant investment makes IPS the largest UK rental house currently holding the Sceptron XB, the latest evolution in Martin’s LED video fixture line.

The Sceptron XB units have already been deployed on high-profile projects, including the Fantastic Four film premiere at the BFI IMAX in London, and are expected to see strong demand across live music, broadcast, corporate events, and outdoor activations. Following consistent year-round demand for the original VDO Sceptron 10, the new XB model offers upgrades including RGBW colour mixing, increased brightness, and a wider selection of diffusers and rigging options. With an IP65 rating and consistent front-facing dimensions, the XB fixtures can be seamlessly integrated into existing designs while delivering enhanced creative performance.

In addition to the fixtures themselves, IPS has also invested in PowerPort 2000 and PowerPort 500 IP drivers, DCE cabling, purpose-built to meet the XB’s higher power requirements, a comprehensive range of rigging hardware, enabling flown, linked, or floor-mounted setups plus a broad selection of diffusers to support a wide range of creative applications.

These additions ensure IPS can support everything from small-scale creative installations to large format event lighting, both indoors and out.

The Sceptron XB delivery forms part of a wider expansion in IPS’s high-impact LED lighting inventory, including two further key additions:

GLP JDC Burst 1: The IP-rated successor to the JDC1, this new hybrid strobe and the Acme Pixel Line IP. IPS has invested in 100 x 1000mm and 20 x 500mm versions of this fixture, featuring a DMX-controlled ‘smart glass’ lens. This allows users to switch between a diffused or bold pixel look on the fly, offering wide creative flexibility. Already in demand from touring clients, the Pixel Line IP is also expected to be popular for outdoor activations and immersive experiences.

While IPS is not the first company in the UK to take delivery of the Sceptron XB, it currently holds the largest available hire stock, with full infrastructure to support deployment at scale. This makes IPS a go-to solution for productions requiring both volume and versatility.

“Our goal is always to provide the right equipment, in the right quantity, and at the right time,” says James Mason, owner & key account director at IPS. “With these new additions, we're not just expanding our inventory, we’re raising the bar on quality, flexibility and availability. The Sceptron has been a staple in our hire range for years and the XB just pushes this further to open up even more creative possibilities for our customers.”

All three product lines are LED based and highly energy efficient compared to older alternatives. IPS is also continuing its shift toward reusable, long-life fixtures that align with the sustainability goals, also championed by manufacturers like Martin Professional.

“This investment is about more than just expanding our inventory,” says James Mason. “We’re reinforcing our commitment to the people who rely on us. Regardless of whether it’s for a film premiere, a festival, or a complex venue, our clients need equipment that performs, with the scale and reliability to match. By continuing to invest in proven, next-generation technology like the Sceptron XB, and by ensuring we have the infrastructure to support it, we’re making sure IPS remains a trusted partner in delivering ambitious, high-impact events now and into the future.”
