USA - As musical director, bandleader, and announcer for The Late Late Show on CBS, improvising vocalist, comedian, and actor Reggie Watts is a busy guy with a lot to keep track of on stage. To monitor his band, Karen, while interacting with host James Corden and taking direction from the control room, he uses Sensaphonics 3D AARO Active Ambient IEM System on stage. The patented system uses microphones embedded in custom soft silicone earphones to add controlled ambience to the in-ear mix, which includes the band feed, host James Corden's mic, and the IFB feed from the control room.

"I'm really big into using the 3D," says Watts. "I love the Full Ambient mode, where you just open up the mics and hear the room as your ears would be hearing naturally, I really appreciate that. It's extra cool during the show, because I get people coming up to tell me things, or when James

The actual unveiling was last year, two years since its notable revamp in 2013, which saw it returned to its 1932 former architectural glory; it remains one of the United Kingdom's biggest and best-preserved Art Deco super cinemas. Now, as the venue is halfway through a 10-year capital investment plan, the beautiful interiors, ornate plasterwork, marble staircases, and meticulous finishes, plus a new flat floor in the auditorium are all set to establish the venue as one of the most coveted private hire venues in the UK.

The venue has made significant investment in an aluminium modular platform floor produced by Prolyte Group, which can be installed overni

Germany - Over 350 Robe fixtures rocked the main stage of the 2016 Mayday dance event at the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, Germany, specified by lighting designer Ronnie Santegoeds from Netherlands based 4Light, who was asked to create a memorable lightshow by promoters, I-Motion.

Ronnie is a regular LD for Dutch hardstyle dance producer / promoter Art of Dance, with whom I-Motion co-promoted the most recent Syndicate event at the same venue.

On the strength of his work for that event, he was invited to produce the production lighting design for this leading house / trance phenomena.

The Robe count was impressive - 202 x Pointes, 121 x LEDWash 800s and 28 x CycFX 8s - all supplied by leading Netherlands based rental company, The Purple Group.

Ronnie created the visual design - lighting and video - working with Chris Das who coordinated the technical preparations for

USA - Belmont University in Nashville is about 468 miles from the border separating Florida from Georgia. But it was at this leafy Christian university where the world-famous Florida Georgia Line began in 2008, when Floridian Brian Kelley met Georgian Tyler Hubbard. It was an encounter that would lead two years later to the formation of one of the most successful country duos of all time. The group's current Dig Your Roots Tour gives fans a chance to learn more about the story behind Florida Georgia Line, while enjoying Kelley and Hubbard's latest hard driving country bro music, all animated by a Baz Halpin designed lightshow.

Halpin and his co-designer Chris Nyfyeld, both of Los Angeles-based Silent House Productions, are creating a visual mood that manages to be both intimate and impactful on the 60-city tour with a lightshow that's anchored by 62 Strike 4 multi-formated war

Australia - Vivid Sydney, a festival of light aiming to transform the Australian city into a wonderland of "light art", has recently reached out to Taronga Zoo, and lit up a trail with giant animal multimedia light sculptures.

The project was created by Ample Projects, with interactive lighting, sound effects and moving parts. The sculptures were presented with a great technologically advanced setup - the tender was won by Mandylights who created a colourful and atmospheric setting for the sculptures.

"The zoo is basically pitch black at night and in many areas we really had to start from scratch," commented Richard Neville of Mandylights. "There were some areas where we had complete free reign and others where we were complementing the lanterns."

Crucial to the lighting design were 130 x ShowPro Hex 18 LED PARs and 24 x ShowPro EX36 LED Floods, both of which have an I

UK - Having helped establish the inaugural Wild Life event at the Shoreham Airport festival site near Brighton last year - fulfilling an idea floated by dance music specialists Rudimental and Disclosure - Capital Sound returned in 2016 with their Martin Audio MLA system to build on that success.

With SJM Concerts again promoting the event on the Sussex coast, and the experienced Simon Barrington and Mike Oates in charge of production duties, Capital equipped three of the four featured stages with the MLA Multi-cellular loudspeaker arrays - including the Indoor Stage (Supercharged) for the first time.

Another first was that they were able to road test the new Beta version of Martin Audio's latest Display software release simultaneously in all three zones, with Robin Conway reporting 100% satisfaction. "The tonal quality is excellent as is the pan control of the lower freque

USA - The Atco Dragway opened in Atco, New Jersey over 50 years ago and has thus been the setting for many of the memories most cherished by Northeast drag-racing enthusiasts. Its quarter-mile strip sees action more days than not (in addition to weekend events, weekday events are commonplace), making Atco Dragway one of the busiest dragways in the country.

However, the thunder from the engines was, until recently, the only full-frequency effect at Atco. All of the sound reinforcement squeezed its way into the world through anemic paging horns. Now, fully-weatherproofed, full-frequency Danley OS-80 loudspeakers backed by Ashly processing and amplification keep up (if only sonically) with the dragsters at Atco.

"We've been working with Atco for years, but I was only recently able to convince them of how much better the fans' experience would be with full-range loudspeakers,"

The Delirium World Tour's North American dates, with audio production handled by Eighth Day Sound, include a full complement of DiGiCo mixing consoles - an SD5 at front-of-house with an SD10 available for opening acts, and an SD7 at the monitor position.

FOH engineer Joe Harling, who has been touring with Goulding for two and a half years, first started using DiGiCo desks three years ago. "I find that their routing flexibility and features such as two insert points per channel allow me to achieve what I want. They have a very neutral sound, whic

Australia - Celebrated hip hop lighting designer Paul Owen - who has illuminated performances by Wu-Tang Clan, De La Soul, Grandmaster Flash and The Streets - used a range of lighting control equipment from British manufacturer Avolites for the recent Restrung tour by Australian rap act Hilltop Hoods.

It stopped at all five major Australian cities and featured the symphony orchestras of Sydney, Queensland (Brisbane), Adelaide, Melbourne and West Australian (Perth).

Owen made good use of Avolites' high-performance Sapphire Touch lighting console running Titan v9, which he used to create a stunning array of spectacular visual effects for the tour's larger shows.

UK - Penn Elcom has supplied around 250m of Osram Linearlight Flex short pitch power flex LED tape as part of a new, greener and more efficient lighting scheme for one of the UK's best-known university library buildings, The Radcliffe Camera in Oxford.

The striking neoclassical circular landmark, now Grade I listed, was designed by James Gibbs and constructed between 1737 and 1748 to house the Radcliffe Library (as it was known until 1860). It was funded from the estate of Dr John Radcliffe (1650-1714), arguably the most successful English physician of his day, who left his trustees a large sum of money with which to purchase both the land for the new building and an endowment to pay a librarian and purchase books. It was officially opened on April 1749.

Much more recently, Richard Francis of Oxford based electrical contractors Monard Electrical was asked to work on the in

Malaysia - The long-awaited Anugerah Juara Lagu 30 event was held on 24 January 2016 at Stadium Malawati, Shah Alam. AJL is an annual music competition, which has been organized in Malaysia by TV3 since 1986.

Besides enjoying the performances by the artists themselves, the audience were impressed by the lights. The swirls and beams from the lighting fixtures formed a show within the show. The crowd saw a total of at least 190 lights, installed throughout the stadium, perform in unison.

The lighting designer skilfully coordinated the lights to merge harmoniously with each other. The most prominent and notable fixtures were the lights from the Clay Paky range. Acoustic & Lighting were able to spot 70 Sharpys installed around the stage and stands. Furthermore, a total of 20 Clay Paky B-EYE K20s, 22 Alpha Wash 1500s and 10 Alpha Spot HPE 1500s were used throughout the event, a

UK - FBT Audio UK has moved to new warehouse and office premises in Rochester, Kent, following a period of exceptional growth, says company MD, Mark Parkhouse.

"Sales of FBT audio products and JTS microphones have increased so much during the past year that we had run out of space in our previous facility," he said. When Geraint Pughe from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts contacted joint head of theatre market, Peter Marshall, with a request for a long-term loan of some moving lights for students to experiment with and train on, PRG was happy to help.

Peter Marshall commented, "We were delighted to support Mountview, as we have previously done with many colleges, with a combination of Arc and LED sourced automated lights, namely the very popular Vari*Lite VL3000 spot and the GLP Impression LED RZ120 RGB zoom wash light."

USA - The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival wrapped its fifteenth weekend of music and good vibes as one of the country's top musical events of the year. Taking place over 9-12 June, a 700-acre field swelled to a population of 85,000 in a feat that literally made it the state's seventh largest city for a weekend.

Bandit Lites once again worked with Lambda Productions to provide a lighting package for the weekend that featured a line-up including Pearl Jam, Dead & Company, LCD Soundsystem, J. Cole, CHVRCHES, Jason Isbell, M83, Halsey and Chris Stapleton.

Bandit's production manager Dizzy Gosnell designed the mainstage festival system to accommodate the three daily closing headliners systems, as each brought along a large portion of their own touring system which occupied a 40'w by 30'd footprint above the performing area.
