UK - Midas Consoles has agreed a sponsorship deal to provide mixing desks to Backstage Academy.
The equipment, understood to be a pair of M32 consoles and DL32 stage boxes, will be used for training purposes at the Wakefield-based college, which introduced a live engineering pathway to its Live Events Production BA (Hons) degree course last September.

Columbia - Persival Producciones is a rental and production company supplying sound, lighting, video, staging, rigging and backline, based in Medellin, the second city of Colombia.
Like many Colombian rental companies, they started primarily as an audio supplier, and a few years later realized that to keep competitive, they needed to invest in lighting and video to offer full production packages to their busy client base.
Persival is owned and run by Mauricio Agudelo. He explained that the lighting side of the business was steady but slower to take off than the audio side, until they purchased their first Robe Pointes in 2016.
The first Pointes appeared in Colombia in 2014 when Andres Chamorro and his company Chamorro Iluminacion bought a quantity for a Juanes tour for which Persival did the audio and staging.

South Africa - It’s all about the training for the South African State Theatre in Pretoria.
Having invested in a DiGiCo SD12 at the end of last year, technicians from the theatre received a practical training course presented by DWR Distribution’s Kyle Robson in January. This was followed by dot2 training and a theatre lighting workshop.
The DiGiCo SD12 is currently being used in the 1,300-seat opera theatre, the largest venue at the State Theatre. The console has already been set to work for the 11th annual Mzansi Fela Community Arts Festival starring artists such as Thandiswa Mazwai, Dr Tumi, Ringo Madlingozi, Kwesta, Sjava, and Lebo Sekgobela.

First in a line-up of events is the inaugural Bikefest, kicking off on 18 May with a day of two-wheeled action and fun for all levels of riders.
There will be a 100km ride through the Sussex and Surrey countryside, which will take in much of the famed Olympic and Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 route, including Leith Hill, the highest point in Surrey, and the famous Box Hill Zig Zag.

Creative Support - Projects funded by Creative Europe will continue to receive support from the government if the UK leaves the EU without a deal next month, thanks to new legislation. It is intended to put contingency arrangements in place in case no deal is struck before 29 March and the EU decides to cease funding Creative Europe projects involving a UK organisation.
Creative Europe currently funds schemes across the creative industries through two programmes – culture and media – providing a total of €1.46bn to cultural projects. On exit day, it is estimated that Creative Europe will have between 160 and 200 projects involving a UK organisation. According to the government, about €18.9m has been awarded to British organisations through these projects, with approximately €8.9m left to be paid.

Attendees were given practical training on Green-GO’s Ethernet-based digital intercom system for event production and broadcast applications.
Green-GO hosted 16 visitors from Europe, Australia and South Africa, who were treated to a tour of the company’s manufacturing facility.
