Trinidad & Tobago - Earlier this year, Trinidad-based Rent A Amp Sound Co (RAA) took delivery of an SD10 and SD12, the first DiGiCo consoles to permanently reside in the Caribbean. The purchase, made through local sales and rental company Caribbean AV / AMR, followed multiple requests for DiGiCo consoles on local events.
The SD12’s first outing was on the I Am Legend concert at the end of April, which attracted an estimated 28,000 audience. Headlined by Jamaican musician Buju Banton, this was the follow up to his Long Walk to Freedom concert in March which marked his release from an eight-year jail sentence and his return to the Caribbean music scene.

Fire Damage - A number of prominent musicians are suing the world's largest record label, Universal Music, after learning their music may have been lost in a fire. The case, which seeks damages in excess of $100m (£78m), was filed by the estates of Tom Petty and Tupac Shakur, the bands Hole and Soundgarden, and singer-songwriter Steve Earle. They are seeking class action status, which means other affected artists will be able to join the legal action.
It is the first case to emerge since a New York Times investigation alleged that hundreds of thousands of master recordings, protection copies, unreleased music and other materials had burned in a massive warehouse fire in 2008.
Among the hundreds of artists said to have lost music were Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Sir Elton John, Janet Jackson, Nirvana, Eminem and Guns N' Roses.

South Africa - MagiCo SA, an audio and lighting rental company based in Vereeniging, has invested in two new DiGiCo consoles - the S21 and the S31. The consoles and training were supplied by DWR Distribution.
MagiCo SA is technical supplier of lighting, AV and staging, but audio has always been the driving force to success behind MagiCo SA’s founder, Ruan Vermaak.
