USA - They say everything is bigger in Texas, and the 75,000 people who poured into Zilker Park's 46-acres for the Austin City Limits Music Festival were about to experience live music in a big way. Bandit Lites worked with the design team 3SRCreative to provide lighting for the massive event where more than 130 musical acts performed.

For the second time in its history, the festival took place over two weekends and included performances by Foster the People, St. Vincent, Beck, Iggy Azalea, Calvin Harris, Lorde, Skillrex, Eminem, Pearl Jam, and Outkast.

Those in attendance were also able to enjoy Austin's vibrant food scene at the festival's food court, aptly named Austin Eats which boasted multiple food trucks, legendary barbeque and even a food and wine festival showcase. The festival also featured a boutique store, art market, charity booths and kid zone.

USA - Audinate has released its latest firmware update for the Dante PCIe soundcard. Version 3.7.1 delivers a range of new features, including audio signal presence indicators, latency statistics monitoring and packet error detection.

Italy - The De Sisti organisation has announced, with deep regret, that the company's founder, president and CEO, Mario De Sisti passed away on Friday, 31 October 2014. His funeral takes place today in Rome.

USA - PLASA will present the 2014 Volunteer of the Year Award to Bill Ellis for his work with the Control Protocols Working Group (CPWG) and the ad-hoc Technical Marketing Group (TMG) on Saturday, 22 November on the PLASA Booth #1469 at LDI.

The award to Bill Ellis, owner of Candela Controls, will be presented by Mike Lay, chair of the CPWG. Bill Ellis spends many volunteer hours on work for the CPWG and the ad-hoc TMG, which promotes the work of the Technical Standards Programme. He has put in an extraordinary amount of work in the preparation, set up and running of the Technical Standards portion of the PLASA booth at LDI, first with the Control Protocols Pavilion and most recently with Standards on the Stage.

Germany - Experienced production designer Cosmo Wilson fondly remembers the first time he used GLP impression fixtures: it was on AC/DC's 2008-2009 Black Ice Tour, where he lit the memorable giant train set-piece, an iconic element of the show. "I found that the saturation was stellar," he recalls. Prior to that he had been strictly a traditional 'PAR Can LD' - critical of the look of the early LED sources and throw distances.

Six years on, and with Foreigner and Styx embarking on a joint headline tour, LED technology has evolved a long way. Besides promoting the ALEXA 65 system exclusively available at ARRI Rental, Stamm will ensure that the company's extensive inventory of digital, film, anamorphic and spherical camera equipment is available to this vibrant production community.

UK - Ed Sheeran, one of the most popular UK artists, recently ended his summer tour after 14 dates at the biggest European festivals. The singer used the same set on all dates, with AV equipment provided by Colonel Tom Touring LLC.

The stage was composed of four LED screens surrounding the singer to display graphics and content. To feed the screens, Barry Otto, owner of Colonel Tom Touring (CT Touring), selected Analog Way's NeXtage 16 (Ref. NTX1604), a powerful seamless video processor.
