UK - PLASA 2011 continues a busy year for the Czech Republic based manufacturer which launches two new LED products - the Robin 1200 LEDWash, and the Robin DLX Spot, and previews the upcoming Robin 'Sniper' - a mega-bright beam fixture.

All are in line with the company's ongoing Think of the Future - Consider Nature commitment to producing genuinely more sustainable and greener technology which takes up less truck space, reduces weight loading on trusses, is quicker and simpler to rig and draws significantly less power than conventional light sources - without compromising on brightness, features or functionality.

Robe also highlights how it is streamlining its own production processes to reduce its carbon footprint and overall environmental impact.

Saudi Arabia - The largest Milos trussing installation in the Middle East to date was built for a special presentation ceremony to give out the 2011 Makkah Awards for Excellence, staged in the Hilton Hall of the Jeddah Hilton Hotel, Makkah Province, Saudi Arabia.

Milos trussing and staging products from Bright Star were used to build a spectacular stage set for the event, including a 50m diameter circular truss that circled the perimeter of the entire presentation space, which was also used to hang a 360 degree projection screen and an 18m diameter round stage.

The installation was designed by Hattan Madani, who was also Bright Star's site and project manager for the event. Bright Star is a leading technical and event production company based in Jeddah, headed by Ibrahim Madani, and with a large stock of Milos products.

PLASA 2011 sees Cooper Controls show a host of new products from its leading UK brands - architectural LED manufacturer Cogent and lighting control manufacturer LightProcessor.

Among the main new architectural orientated products is the Cogent XC LED controller, which will be shown with its latest software.

This increases the number of operational modes from 12 to 20, which can be directly accessed via an RS232 port, with the colours also recalled by region via RS232.

This is one of the most straightforward and flexible 'environmental' LED control systems on the market. It is set up in 'regions' via eight compass points, each of which is assigned with its own DMX address, so regions can be activated, pre-programmed and controlled by selecting 'top' 'middle or 'bottom' buttons - in any room or space.

Also from Cogent is a new range of four-colour changing LED strip lights - in RGB

UK - Lee House has joined Green Hippo in London as product manager for the firm's Hippotizer Media Server range.

House has a strong background in the world of lighting and AV, having previously worked at Flying Pig, High End Systems and most recently AC Entertainment Technologies. His role at AC was to build up the newly founded video division three years ago, a role which led him to gain advanced knowledge of the Hippotizer server range.

"I've been a huge fan of Hippotizer since its first appearance at PLASA in 2004 and distributing the product in the UK led me to become so close to the product I couldn't refuse the opportunity to step even closer by taking on the roll of Hippotizer product manager," says House. USA - Community Professional Loudspeakers has announced the release of its loudspeaker processor, the dSPEC226.

The dSPEC heralds an all-new approach to configuring, controlling and commissioning sound system installations, from very small to very large, says the company. Employing both a high-speed SHARC DSP and a Xilinx Spartan FPGA, dSPEC offers a host of capabilities - and a method of engineered workflow - not available anywhere else.

All dSPEC models feature a four-input x six-output fixed-chain DSP architecture that includes 2 x 6 native analog I/Os. Various expansion cards are available to provide two additional analogue inputs, two AES3 dual-channel digital inputs, or eight CobraNet inputs and outputs. Additional expansion cards will become available as new digital audio networking protocols gain market acceptance, reducing the cost-burden for system installations that

UK - Following success at ProLight&Sound earlier this year, Christie's new-look theatre arrives at Earls Court this weekend to take up its PLASA position in Hall 1, Stand E18. The Christie stand will once again present an integrated light show with video animations using Christie Nitro Solutions. Previewed at PLASA last year, this modular series of motorised moving yokes can provide up to 22,000 ANSI lumens of video projection, with the flexibility to allow the user to deploy the yoke with either a video projector or a LED light head.

Noted lighting director Bruno Corsini is tasked with creating and choreographing the show in a convergence of video and lighting-derived patterns. Corsini has a long list of accomplishments, including last year's landmark lightshow for Mexico's Bicentennial of Independence in the Mexican capital's main square.

Promising "no more overloads on stage", Eilon Engineering is launching a new, improved version of Ron StageMaster wireless and wired load monitoring and overload prevention system, featuring longer transmission range, longer battery life, faster update rate and more, at PLASA 2011.

Tens / hundreds of load cells' measurements are displayed on one laptop screen and create a real time load map, allowing the rigger to detect an overload and handle it before it becomes dangerous.

The load cells enable minimum headroom loss and have up to 1500 battery hours; up to 96 wireless load cells, or up to 256 wired load cells with just a single cable descending from the truss. All wireless and wired load cells are displayed on one laptop screen as a real-time load map, overlaid on the stage-plan layout (AutoCAD etc), enabling the rigger at the venue to immediately identify the location of

Describing it as 'the ultimate background music tool", Ohm is showing its BootiQue all in one background music system at PLASA 2011.

The BootiQue sub, says Ohm, holds all the tricks, providing an arsenal of inputs including RCA (Phono), iPod (line in jack) and a USB port. More than one BootiQue system can be linked together, creating zones using the RCA link. The onboard three-channel amplifier powers the 10" bass driver and all eight satellites, making this system a true all in one solution.

Worried about fire regulations? A fire alarm mute connector ensures compliance with regulations for peace of mind. Independent controls are provided for master, bass and mid high volume parameters, enabling the right balance of sound to be achieved throughout a venue. The rear control panel includes essential functions such as ground lift, polarity reverse, input gain, sub/sat EQ and a

The new range draws on over three decades of tour-honed design and manufacturing expertise to deliver a unique combination of perform

Midas has unveiled the latest additions to its PRO Series of digital consoles, the Midas PRO2 and PRO2C live audio systems, at PLASA 2011. The PRO2/PRO2C takes the audio quality, performance and values of the top-end Midas XL8, and makes them available at a price point well below the general-purpose mixing console average, states the company.

Despite being the smallest and least expensive Midas digital consoles, the PRO2 and PRO2C represent a quantum leap forward for digital mixing, both in technology and concept. Essentially the same console, the PRO2C has eight fewer input faders and the smaller frame, at just 750mm by 850mm. Both consoles share the same high quality components and finish as the rest of the PRO Series, including the Alex Cooper-designed mic preamps, A-D converters, and daylight-viewable screens. This offers a reassuring continuity and provides extreme functionality a
