LD Systems will launch its new D1013CUSB universal condenser microphone with USB connector at PLASA 2011. The microphone is both Windows and Mac OS X compatible, and does not require a driver.

It has, the company states, a perfect cardioid pickup pattern and a wide frequency range (30 Hz - 18,000 Hz) and so can be used for capturing the subtleties and nuances of almost any tone. The clear and natural sound of the D1013CUSB makes this microphone perfect for usage within podcast recording situations, multimedia presentations and a multitude of other scenarios.

Low inherent noise, the ability to block out background noise and a strong output level are among the features of this microphone. Andrew Richardson, Managing Director of Adam Hall UK says "The D1013CUSB is a versatile microph

Funktion-One says that in order to keep pace with the huge success and high demand of the recently introduced Resolution 3, it has enhanced its production with a new set of tooling for the mid high wave guides. The company says: "This new tooling created the opportunity to refine the technology, taking the product to a new level".

This has also given rise to the new stand-alone R3SH which has been used to great acclaim in venues as diverse as the National Theatre, for Danny Boyle's production of Frankenstein, and to the main room at Space Ibiza. The development further underlines Funktion One's stance that good loudspeakers are in no way genre specific and are suitable for all audio applications.

Demonstrations of Funktion-One's full range of products will be taking place throughout the show in the company's demonstration room, in the Permanent Press Office, near the Terrac

CableJoG will be launching its latest cable tester, the Avjog, at PLASA 2011. The Avjog is designed to assist in the installation and maintenance of AV cabling in schools, universities, theatres and stadiums. It is the latest cable tester produced by CableJoG Limited, designed by Eddie Zych and manufactured in the North West of England.

The Avjog provides a two-box solution to testing installed cables where both ends of the cable cannot be plugged into a single tester. Each box carries a wide range of connectors as used in AV industry applications, i.e. DVI, HDMI, SCART, VGA, RJ-45, DIN, USB, XLR, Jack, Phono, BNC and Coaxial.

Testing has been made exceptionally easy; the user can simply connect the cable under test to the Local and Remote Avjog units and press the 'test' button. The Local unit checks all the connections found against an internal database of known cables and displays

With a worldwide reputation for Ethernet and DMX data networking products for lighting and LED wall systems, Netherlands-based ELC Lighting has extended its range of add-ons to include digital communications and cue lights over Ethernet. Stand 2-S15 at PLASA 2011 will be the launchpad for GreenGo - what company describes as "an innovative digital communications system with outstations that are simple to use and connect into any Ethernet network".

GreenGo provides high quality digital voice communications, and optional text messages and cue lights, simply by connecting beltpacks and wall-mounted outstations anywhere on the Ethernet network. For basic voice comms, just a set of beltpacks is needed - an expensive central matrix unit and separate power supplies are not required - as all the data settings are stored in each beltpack, which is powered via the network delivering sta

Acclaim Lighting will show its new Rebel Band 600 which, the company says, can scale 100' buildings with ease. This powerful IP-rated LED wall wash provides lighting professionals with a solution for long throw dynamic illumination of large structures, façades and landscapes.

The biggest and brightest LED fixture introduced by Acclaim to date, the Rebel Band 600 is equipped with 104 high-power Rebel LEDs. It provides enough output and covers enough area to handle large-scale applications where LED fixtures typically haven't been used, such as washing 100' building façades.

With an IP-65 rating, the Rebel Band 600 is able to withstand rain and dust, so it can be used either indoors or outdoors. In addition to architectural applications, its precise light distribution and extremely even field make it perfect for high-impact stage scene settings, adds the company.

LD Systems, exhibiting with distributor Adam Hall, is set to unveil its newly developed MAUI 28, a compact, active and modular "all-in-one" system. The company describes it as the perfect solution for musicians and DJs, as well as for presentations and events with sophisticated music playback. Because no cables or stands are required, this "plug-and-play" system can be quickly and easily set up and dismantled.

According to Andrew Richardson, Managing Director of Adam Hall UK, "With its outstanding features, the exciting new Maui 28 is sure to be a winning solution for all performers. It is extremely portable and given its amazing price, represents one of the most exciting products we have released to date."

Frequency-response-based 4.1 five-way amping results in a clear, dynamic and balanced sound throughout the frequency range of this system. The array

UK - Independent AV consultant Richard Northwood of COMS has given a resounding thumbs-up to the final and definitive test of the Nexo sound system he specified at Glasgow's Ibrox Stadium, the home of Rangers Football Club. After a recent home match, attended by more than 50,000 fans, he described the newly-installed PA/VA as being "as near as one can get to hi-fi in a performance space as large as this".

Ibrox is listed as a heritage site, which means that parts of the 130-year old building's architecture are protected by law. It is also of huge cultural importance to its community of supporters; many fans have been attending matches, sitting in the same seat, for decades, and so the design and installation of a new sound system had to consider sensibilities far and above the provision of audible evacuation instruction.

USA - When Premios Juventud 2011 aired live on Univision, millions of votes had been cast to honour Spanish-speaking celebrities in the areas of film, television, music, sports and fashion. While the awards ceremony is a vibrant and enthusiastic evening filled with musical performances by some if the top artists today, behind the scenes lighting designer Carlos Colina was tasked with bringing the annual celebration to life for both the live and at-home audience.

Faced with various lighting obstacles, Colina would need a suitable lighting package to help him succeed, so he called upon Atomic Lighting who provided him with a rig full of Vari*Lite automated luminaires from Philips Vari-Lite.

"When I received the initial set design in April 2011, I looked it over and immediately knew that we would have a few challenges with how the set was laid out," says Colina. "I

Supplied by Apex Audio's Japanese distributor Audio-Brains, two Intelli-X² processors were used on the Lake Stage, the festival's second-largest.

The Apex units were used for system EQ and crossovers for the Martin Audio W8LM line array elements of the PA system and made a very positive impression.

"MSI Japan has been using the Intelli-X² processors on various productions for the past two months and were so pleased with t

UK - Red for warn, green for go. Most live event cueing systems currently used in theatres, opera houses and for concerts rely on separate networks of discrete wiring or dedicated data networks and proprietary protocols, sometimes with complex and expensive central management equipment. ELC has been at the forefront of lighting data networking for over 15 years, supplying theatres, TV studios, opera houses and touring events with Ethernet and DMX data networks.

Monitor engineer Ian Beveridge, who has worked with Foo Fighters for some 17 years, says of the PRO6, "It's the best sounding console I have ever used, bar none. The band themselves commented on the sonic improvement the moment the PRO6 arrived. Their latest record was made without any computers at all; it's five guys with five instruments on the record and live, and the sound of the PRO6 complements this approach perfectly."
