Cowan comes to City Theatrical from Pixelrange where he was the international sales manager, covering Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East, and South Africa. Prior to that, he was with HSL in Blackburn in the role of new business executive.

Alex's role at City Theatrical will be building the City Theatrical distribution network in Europe, and helping customers to get the lighting accessories they need from City Theatrical's broad range of award winning products.

Germany - Console designer and manufacturer Audient launches the ASP2802 eight-channel console at this week's Prolight&Sound in Frankfurt.

Heralding the arrival of Audient's Dual Layer Technology, the ASP2802 fully integrates with the computer system, enabling the user to switch effortlessly between the analogue layer - the traditional mixer path travelling through the console - and the DAW layer within the computer session, says the company.

USA - The Village Church's Flower Mound Campus Worship Centre is located just North of Dallas, Texas. One of three Village Church locations, the flower mound campus is the newest, and was opened barely a month ago, at a vacated Albertson's grocery store. The large space needed a complete re-design, and Shanks Architects were contacted to re-model the building's interior, whereas the exterior facade remained practically untouched.

UAE - Al Laith Events Services - the new division of Dubai based Al Laith Scaffolding - supplied a stage and bespoke roof system for Sting's show at the newly re-launched Meydan Racecourse in Dubai.

This was the new division's first major event and involved several technical challenges, the first of which was that the roof had to be built over the top of a 100m wide by 11m high permanently installed Mitsubishi LED screen.

The roof was made primarily out of Serious Stages' Space truss to Atlantic Enterprises' and structural engineer Dragan Kuzamanov's method statement.

The cantilevered roof elevation measured 25m wide and overhung the stage just in front of the screen by 19m, with 16m protruding at the back supported by a scaffolding 'bird-cage', cable stays to a seven king poles at the top and 84 tonnes of concrete ballast down below stored in seven stillages at the bottom o

The Ersa Major is an all new integrated line array system intended for large scale concerts, festivals and sports events. The system is run in four-way active mode with the amplifiers flown in the array. The matching dual 18" PUKK sub-bass units can be flown or ground stacked.

The mid/high cabinet has dual OHM 10" midrange woofers with a coaxial compression driver mounted on a proprietary waveguide. The midrange drivers are loaded a fully horn loaded cabinet having a compact size of 750mm wide, 600mm deep and 300mm high.

The cabinet is three-way active with an impedance of 16 ohms allowing the use of four boxes to one tree-way amplifier.

UK - Hawthorn has supplied over 70 linear metres of its new LED video cloth, Media Surge, to the BBC for its Eurovision: Your Country Needs You 2010 heats; working with set designer Alex Craig and LD Mark Kenyon on yet another TV production.

Six acts competed for the honour of representing the UK at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo in May, singing a song written by Pete Waterman.

Your Country Needs You featured a stunning set with a backdrop of 72 linear metres of Hawthorn's LED video cloth, 4m high. The programming was supplied by the show's production team and Hawthorn's engineers operated the Media Surge.

Alex Craig, commented, "I was delighted to find an LED cloth product that gave me the large scale coverage that I needed at a price I could afford, and with a soft pixillation that looked fabulous on close up shots."

UK - Turbosound has announced that it has partnered with Fuzion PLC to further expand the distribution of its professional loudspeaker lines in the UK.

As a result of a series of discussions between the two companies over the last few months, Turbosound and Fuzion have reached agreement to work together to further expand Turbosound's sales channels, alongside the West Sussex-based company's existing sales network in the UK market.

Effective from 2 April 2010, Fuzion will complement the current distribution of Turbosound's fixed installation and concert touring loudspeaker products.

On The Left - Musician Billy Bragg is to curate his own stage at this summer's Glastonbury Festival, organisers have announced. Bragg will book the bill for the Leftfield tent, which returns this year after being axed in 2009. Bragg said his role would be "a bit of everything - curator, MC, performer, guitar roadie [and] juggler." The stage will aim to bring a political dimension to the event, described as "the original activist festival" by the Barking-born veteran.
