Sweden / Germany - The latest addition to the Milab product family is the DC-96C, a side-addressed large membrane microphone designed mainly for studio work, but also for many live applications.

The DC-96C is the latest version of the classic DC-96 series - originally released in 1967 - and has been updated with the latest technology. It shares most of its components, including the capsule, with the DC-196, but like previous DC-96 versions, it is cardioid only and has a single layer mesh grid.

The DC-96C is suitable for a wide range of applications, including studio vocals, acoustic guitar and piano, hi-hats and overheads, guitar amps and more. The DC-96C will be presented at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt this month.

UK - Nearly 7000 'dodgy' ladders have been surrendered in the three years the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been running the ladder exchange initiative.

HSE is now thanking all the retailers, manufacturers, trade associations and local authorities who have played their part in the campaign which gives workers the opportunity to get rid of old, damaged and broken ladders and trade them in for new ones at a discounted price.

In the most recent campaign, HSE's partners were inundated with a variety of precarious ladders with missing rungs, bent sides and ladders that are clearly not up to the job anymore.

In 2008/09 a total of 35 workers died and over 4000 employees suffered major injury as a result of a fall from height in the workplace. Many of these incidents could be avoided by using the right equipment and taking simple precautions.

UK - This week the Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT) and the Broadcasting Entertainment Cinematograph and Theatre Union (BECTU) launch their much-anticipated training partnership initiative, creating a new force in UK vocational theatre training.

At a time when the importance of training in the industry is much in the spotlight - with an emphasis not only on those joining the profession but also those with more established careers - this alliance heralds a new phase in each organisation's plans to raise industry standards.

BECTU, with project workers throughout the UK, identified in the ABTT a partner who - as one of the leading training providers - would deliver high quality, industry-recognised training, across the UK, to the benefit of its own and ABTT's members, as well as theatre in general.

USA - At The Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show, The Who performed on a custom video deck incorporating over 3,000 Barco MiSTRIPs. In spite of the complex non-linear arrangement of the MiSTRIPs, the Who's trademark arrows were perfectly straight and the lettering and images displayed on the circular deck were all perfectly proportioned.

The special video layout was made possible by a new component of the Green Hippo Hippotizer HD media server, called VideoMapper. Similar to Hippotizer's PixelMapper for DMX fixtures, VideoMapper provides a simple solution for the mapping of multiple LED video displays, tiles or strips, taking into account their physical arrangement and the physical spaces between them. VideoMapper supports resolutions up to 8192 x 8192 and frees the designer from the constraints of modern video processor hardware, allowing complete artistic freedom with ev

Hong Kong - Following a year of strong growth, LED display developer, manufacturer and supplier Lighthouse Technologies reports that it continues to forge new ground with several major global wins in the first quarter of 2010.

A month later Lighthouse screens were in the spotlight again at the American Airlines Centre, where Lighthouse installed the first ever true 1080p LED display to appear in an NBA or NHL facility. Along wit
