USA/Europe - While the live music scene has been on pause for the past year, two live sound innovators, Dr. Christian Heil, president and founder of L-Acoustics, and Jerry Harvey, president and founder of JH Audio, came up with the idea to combine their technologies into Contour XO in-ear headphones.

Co-owner Steve Kovach turned to Backstage Backyards, an exterior design and installation company, to design, integrate and install the venue’s stage and sound system. Backstage Backyards was created by music industry veteran Joe Denim to employ music industry touring professionals who are out of work due to the pandemic.

Sweden - Malmö Opera has recently invested in Out Board’s TiMax TrackerD4 (TTd4) precision stagetracking system via Out Board’s Swedish distributor, Electrosound AB. The decision to buy was a simple one as the TiMax automation system was needed to ensure the precise audio localisation of both moving performers and static mic positions within the theatre’s immersive sound system, upgraded earlier in the year.

UK - Artists including Sir Elton John and Radiohead are putting pressure on the government to resolve the problems around post-Brexit EU touring. UK artists will face red tape and fees for visas to play in some EU countries.
Sir Elton John told The Guardian: "Either the Brexit negotiators didn't care about musicians, or didn't think about them, or weren't prepared."
But Culture Minister Caroline Dinenage said the government had "pushed" for a solution and the door was still "open". She told MPs on Monday that the government had put forward a "very straightforward" plan to allow musicians to travel without work permits, drafted "in consultation with experts from the UK to creative sectors". She added: "Quite simply the EU rejected this proposal."
Brussels has previously argued the opposite, saying it was in fact the UK that turned down its offer.

The school has transferred its most popular short courses online and created a range of new ones, working with tutors to ensure that they are “just as enriching and memorable as they would be within the building”.
