Italy - Bringing a taste of Cuba to metropolitan Italy, Todos a Cuba is a new bar and restaurant located in the centre of Milan. A Yamaha Commercial Installation Solutions (CIS) delivers high quality, seamless sound to its customers.

Located close to the Colonne di San Lorenzo, Milan's noted Roman ruin, Todos a Cuba was designed by Novara-based architects Archizero. Comprising a single level, L-shaped space, the brief was to create a venue with a strong individual identity. One side of the L accommodates the bar area and the other customer tables and seating, the contrasting elements of each linked by visual devices, like the suspended ceiling of the seating area being imitated in the fascia of the bar.

A two-zone audio system was specified for background music and a feed from a Sky TV decoder for live sport. This was the ideal type of installation for Yamaha's CIS products -

USA - Arcade Fire, the Grammy Award-winning indie band from Montreal, has been praised by critics since the launch of its debut album, Funeral, in 2004. Ten years on, the group continues to press the envelope with its sonically adventurous arrangements and tours, which can feature a dozen or more multi-instrumentalists switching between an ever-changing blend of guitar, drums, bass, piano, string quartet, xylophone, glockenspiel, keyboard, synthesizer, French horn, accordion, harp, mandolin and hurdy-gurdy.

When the band was poised to head out on the road earlier this year in support of its fourth and most recent album, Reflektor, FOH engineer Jim Warren and tour sound reinforcement provider Solotech Inc. knew what systems would be up for the challenge: L-Acoustics' K1 and K2.

In particular, this trek represented Solotech's first official outing with the manufact

UK - Back in 2013 The Potters House Christian Fellowship decided to begin the process of upgrading its audio system in their flagship UK Church in Leyton, East London.

Housed in a large former cinema and bingo hall the existing system was struggling to accurately transfer the message from the Worship leaders to the congregation. The dynamics of the lively, high energy, resident praise band were also being held back by the existing system.

This process took Jason Campbell - sound technician at The Potters House - to the PLASA 2013 trade show where he took in information on a number of manufacturers and possible ways to enhance his Church's audio offering.

The show gave Jason his first opportunity to listen to KV2 Audio's products - most notably a full VHD System in the AudioLab. Being suitably impressed with a brand previously unknown to him, Jason visited KV2 Audio's stand a

Hungary - When the Palace of Arts, Budapest and Hungary's new cultural hub, opened in 2005, it was built to represent more than a hundred years of Hungarian cultural history. As a conglomeration of cultural venues, the building has no precedent in 20th century Hungarian architecture and claims no peers in the whole of Central Europe. The recent addition of a DiGiCo SD10 mixing console to its audio inventory is helping to ensure this exceptional status is maintained into the future.

Known to Hungarians simply as Müpa, the venue brings together the many and varied disciplines of the arts in a unique fashion by providing a home for classical, contemporary, popular and world music, not to mention jazz and opera, as well as contemporary circus, dance, literature and film.

The institution states that its "fundamental task is to introduce new artistic trends and directions - wh

USA - Ohio horse racing fans are celebrating the opening of a five-eighths-mile harness racing track in Dayton and a one-mile thoroughbred track in Austintown (Mahoning Valley). Fans at both locations enjoy the excitement of horse racing and casino gambling supported by the venues' new AV systems.

Owned by Penn National Gaming, both venues are "racetrack casinos" that include casino gambling, para-mutual wagering, live entertainment and several dining options. Penn National Gaming hired integrator Control-Point Technology of Lebanon, Pennsylvania to design and install A/V systems for both venues. Control-Point designed systems featuring Community R.5HPT loudspeakers.

Control-Point's Aaron Replogle says: "Community's outdoor product range has a great reputation for wide response and great sound. We knew the R.5s would give us plenty of level and even coverage wit

Germany - The AES, in cooperation with the European Broadcast Union (EBU), recently held a 'Plugfest' with equipment from 10 manufacturers, to demonstrate functional compatibility - or interoperability - between a number of different implementations of the AES67-2013 standard.

AES67 is a standard to enable high-performance audio-over-IP streaming interoperability between the various IP-based audio networking products currently available, such as Dante, Livewire, Q-LAN and RAVENNA. It is not a new technology but a bridging compliance mode common to all IP-Networks; a mode you can put a device into, on any participating network. AES67 operates over standard layer 3 Ethernet networks and, as such, is routable and fully scalable, like any common modern IT network. As a rule of thumb, any network infrastructure capable of handling VoIP should be able to handle AES67. The Media Networ

USA - Symetrix has launched SymNet Composer 3.0, an update to the manufacturer's award-winning open architecture design software. Version 3.0 has built upon the native support of Audinate's Dante media networking technology for select third-party devices in earlier releases, and extends support of market-leading products thanks to new partnerships with Shure Inc and Audio-Technica.

Now, integrators can streamline their set-up procedures and achieve network discovery, Dante signal routing, and audio set-up of supported third-party devices from the two new manufacturers alongside Attero Tech and Stewart Audio with a single piece of software.

"The previous version of Composer was genuinely groundbreaking because it meant less software to keep up-to-date and less jumping between different items of software," says Trent Wagner, Senior Product Manager at Symetrix. "Si

UK - A Grade II listed building in the centre of Nottingham, 50 Shakespeare Street was purchased in 2012 by Nottingham Trent University, since when it has undergone works to restore many key listed features as well as enjoying a complete internal refurbishment.

In recent times POLARaudio has established a strong connection with NTU. A recent installation at its Brackenhurst Library site prompted the university to contact the company with a view to tackling issues of sound-reinforcement and supplying conferencing solutions at its recently acquired site. The restoration of a listed building under the watchful gaze of English Heritage is a process that demands great care and sensitivity and a proven track record in designing systems for such sites further enhanced POLARaudio's credentials.

USA - Severn School is among the largest and most august private schools in the nation. Situated midway between Baltimore and Annapolis in Maryland, Severn School was founded in 1914 as a preparatory school for the U.S. Navy. Today, it serves 800 students from kindergarten to twelfth grade. In recent years, Severn School has been updating its buildings and grounds, including new turf fields for football, field hockey, soccer, and lacrosse adjacent to the new Edward St. John Athletic Center.

For a few years after their installation, the school used a portable system for every football game, a solution that proved to be of low quality and, moreover, quite a hassle. Severn School called on Baltimore-based A/V contractor HP Electronics to design and install a permanent system. Citing their value and sound quality, HP Electronics installed an Ashly MX-206 six-channel microphone mixer

USA/Canada - The CP Holiday Trains are spreading the joy of the season - and filling local food banks with donations - across Canada and the northern US. Supported by Meyer Sound systems, the brightly decorated trains draw thousands of people who brave the winter cold to partake in the festivities.

With two separate 14-car trains travelling west across Canada and the US, the Holiday Train programme delivers free live music shows in more than 150 US and Canadian communities, encouraging attendees to bring donations for local food banks. As the crowds grew year after year, the organizers decided to look for more powerful and higher-quality audio reinforcement for the 2014 edition.

"The difference the Meyer Sound systems provide is stunning, despite their smaller footprint," says Randall Prescott, president of Rip Roar Productions in Eastern Ontario, and producer of the

In what is a bold move, says the company, Audiologic is investing in and significantly extending the scope of its products and services with an eye on delivering an even more comprehensive AV solutions package for its customers.

Aurora Multimedia is a US-based manufacturer of the industry's first non-proprietary web-standards based IP control systems, as well as advanced HD video distribution and processing. Not only does ready access to these products widen the field of choice for Audiologic's customers in finding control solutions for a host of installations, it also acts as a catalyst for Audiologic's further capacity to engage more deeply with customers on the Visual side of the AV brief.

Andy Lewis, sales and marketing manager at Audiologic has no doubts that this is an important coup:

UK - Liverpool technical production specialist Adlib is supplying the sound system and technicians for pop mega-star Enrique Iglesias' latest UK and European tour.

The multi-talented, multi-lingual and multi-award winning Enrique - who also enjoys a highly successful writing, record producing and acting career - as well as performing to an enormous fanbase worldwide - has sold over 100m albums and is dubbed 'King of Latin Pop' by Billboard. His meteoric international career kicked off in the mid-1990s after recording a demo tape as a supposedly unknown Guatemalan singer, not wanting to trade on the family name to get any breaks or opportunities

Adlib's history with Enrique is slightly more recent, dating back to the 2014 Capital FM Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium in June. Adlib supplied audio for the event, and the singer was amongst the star-studded line up. Enrique

ISE 2015 will also be an opportunity for visitors to experience immersive sound in 3D format powered by Genelec. The company has a special 3D dedicated listening room on its stand and will once again be a key participant in the Immersive Sound Experience feature area at the show.

"It has been said that the 8351 is a paradigm shifting product," says Lars Olof-Janflod, marketing director at Genelec. "This is high praise and while it may be immodest of me, I would have to agree. I'd urge anyone interested in the future of audio to visit our stand, not only to hear the 8351 in action, but to also experience 3D audio as t

USA - Peter Pan Live!, NBC's live primetime television production of the classic Broadway musical, aired last week with audio support from Firehouse Productions and DPA Microphones. The live TV 'film,' which followed the success of the network's 2013 depiction of the Sound of Music, raked in over nine million viewers.

With a live show of this magnitude, Firehouse needed an audio solution that would provide pristine audio quality expected with HD television while still giving audiences the feel of a grand theater production. To accomplish this, the sound reinforcement company called on 48d:screet 4061 Miniature Microphones to support the entire cast, which included Christopher Walken as Captain Hook and Allison Williams as Peter Pan.

With each lead and principal actor double-miked, and a single mic on each member of the ensemble, DPA's d:screet 4061 was the exclus

USA - Home of the Carolina Panthers NFL football team, Bank of America Stadium has installed 30 steerable CAL column array loudspeakers from Meyer Sound to provide exceptional intelligibility for 37,000 fans in its upper deck area. The slender profile of CAL harmoniously blends in with flagpoles, solving an aesthetic challenge in distributed sound systems for sports venues. CAL will demonstrated live at the ISE trade show in Amsterdam in February 2015.

"The Panthers' stadium doesn't have a continuous lighting catwalk like other NFL stadiums, so there was no place to put the sizeable conventional speakers we would need to cover the upper level without having large clusters up on poles," says Mark Graham, the system designer and an associate of consultants Wrightson, Johnson, Haddon & Williams (WJHW). "Aesthetically, the clusters would have been a hard sell to the a
