Europe - Portuguese manufacturer NEXT-proaudio has unveiled the LA210x, a medium format three-way, coaxial, active line array element designed to support a wide range of mid to large-sized touring applications and installations where easy to use, from transportation to installation and rigging, are critical. Built-in powerful DSP and amplification eliminates amplifier racks, long loudspeaker cables, and basic system calibration.
Custom made European transducers and a maximally optimised acoustic design provide sound fidelity at high SPL levels. The LA210x features dual 10-inch (3-inch voice coil) neodymium woofers and a coaxial ring radiator loaded by an exclusively developed OSWG waveguide. This acoustic design delivers ‘exceptional phase coherence and consistent coverage down to 300Hz and the most accurate transient reproduction’.

Belgium - Since singer songwriter, Selah Sue, released her first EP in 2009 her popularity has continued to rise. This year, she embarked on a European tour with Fred Pignatelli, her monitor engineer of almost a decade, deploying a KLANG immersive in-ear monitor system, along with his long-time of console of choice, a DiGiCo SD12, both supplied by Belgian rental company, 4EARS.
“I have worked with Selah Sue since 2014,” says Pignatelli. “I accidentally ended up there and apparently they liked my way of mixing. I had an SD8-24 on a MaDiRack at the time. I’m lucky to be able to work for such an artist. It’s a close-knit team with top musicians and a professional crew. We moved to the SD12 is 2017. I had wanted to upgrade, but with a similar size desk since we travel with a nightliner and trailer, so space is limited. Initially, I chose the SD12 for its dual screens,

Thailand - Last September, 10,000 of Thailand's electronic dance music fans got reacquainted with the energy of a live show as Bangkok’s Together Festival returned after a two-edition hiatus to deliver a programme filled with the genre’s A-listers. Headliners like Blasterjaxx, W&W, Will Sparks and AXMO were featured alongside local talents Roxy June, Riviere and Ayrton.
Staged over two days in a massive 3,267sq.m exhibition hall at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), the festival showcased various EDM styles. With a dynamic range of sub-genres from big room house, and hardstyle, to euphoric, vocal-led tracks, an equally dynamic PA was needed to support the various musical content.
Festival organisers looked to Bangkok-based L-Acoustics rental partner, One Systems Global Production to supply a full-range, powerful PA that would fit t

Spain - This year’s ISE once again saw the company appear in two halls - L-Acoustics in Hall 7 and L-Acoustics Creations in Hall 2 - and perform off-site demos for the new Ambiance Acoustic System. With L-Acoustics recording visitor numbers up 25% from last year, the show proved ‘a resounding success’ for the loudspeaker manufacturer.
The Hilton Barcelona proved a popular destination for demonstrations of L-Acoustics Ambiance, the active acoustics system, combining premium acoustics and the realism of immersive audio. Visitors were treated to live performances of a string quartet and Spanish guitarist to illustrate the benefits of this award-winning acoustic enhancement system.
On the L-Acoustics booth, visitors were given the chance to familiarise themselves with immersive sound mixing software L-ISA Studio, now available for MacOS and Windows, at interactive wo

USA - Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles recently premiered its latest award-winning show, Signs of Life, in the Samuel Oschin Planetarium. The new immersive programme thrusts viewers into the driver’s seat of discovery: illuminating the nature of existence on Earth and exploring where one might look for life elsewhere in the universe. To put forth an authentic, amusing and engaging immersive experience, Re-recording Mixer Michael Phillips Keeley turned to Nugen Audio’s Halo Upmix plug-in.
Since he worked on Signs of Life in the midst of the pandemic, Keeley had to figure out the most beneficial way to translate the sound from his Dolby Atmos 9.1.4 speaker setup at his Sound Striker studio to the 28.1 system at the observatory. Having previously used Nugen, he knew the brand would help him deliver exactly what he planned.

Japan - Since opening in 1985, Antiknock has become a hall of fame for punk and hardcore bands, and many of today’s major artists originally set down their roots there. Now the venue, situated in the burgeoning Shinjuku district of Tokyo, has become the first in Japan to install Martin Audio’s new Torus constant curvature array.
Speaking of the installation, Mr. Sekikawa, CEO of Hardaway Corporation, which manages the venue, said the renewal of the sound system was a gift to the many artists and patrons who volunteered to sell T-shirts and make donations to keep the venue alive during the COVID pandemic. “This was my first thought when trying to thank them all for their cooperation during those difficult times,” he said.
The system previously installed had been huge and featured old long-throw cabinets. Their disproportionate size not only made the stage looked

Denmark - When it opened in September of last year, the new campus of Sonic College - a unit of the University of South Denmark in Kolding - immediately vaulted to the top ranks of European educational institutions for all disciplines related to sound design for music, film, video, and gaming. The new facility boasts 10 studios for sound creation, recording, and mixing, but what sets Sonic College apart is what the school calls their “sound-embracing atrium”.
More than 180 Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeakers are installed throughout the five-story space, with about half facing into the open atrium and the remainder placed in the ceilings of connected corridors. Each loudspeaker is connected to a discrete output of a Galileo Galaxy Network Platform, which allows dynamic panning of multiple sound sources throughout the entire space using Meyer Sound’s Spacemap Go spat

Spain - Via an online special event and at ISE 2023 in Barcelona, Martin Audio unveiled a smaller addition to the Torus series, the Torus 8 (or T820 as the individual model is known).
T820 is a passive, two-way loudspeaker engineered for small to medium-scale applications which do not call for the longer throw capabilities of a line array. With exceptional ease-of-use, scalability and deployment flexibility, it is primarily used as an array element in vertical constant curvature arrays as well as being used singly as a point-source loudspeaker. In venues with short throws, yet high ceilings - as is the case in some theatres - a horizontal centre cluster may also be a practical solution.
T820 combines impressive output capability, sonic performance and a defined 100° by 20° coverage pattern, all from a compact enclosure that weighs just 14kg. Its small size and portab

Spain - Electronic musician and composer, Jean-Michel Jarre, and contemporary French artist Eric Decastro teamed up with Coda Audio to unveil Space by Coda at ISE 2023.
Space by Coda combines advanced AV technology with art ‘to create a seamless audio-visual experience that is scalable and adaptable to any environment – and where the mechanics of what is a concert-grade audio experience are rendered completely invisible’.
“Conventional AV solutions are often a compromise between technical requirements and visual aesthetics,” explains Coda founder and MD, Svetly Alexandrov. “High quality AV solutions usually include projector and/or LED screens, multiple loudspeakers, mounting accessories, and a lot of cables as well as acoustic absorbers and diffusors. This is usually at odds with the vision of the architect and/or interior designer who don’t want loudsp
